For me, gambling is more of an exploratory hobby. A workshop on probability theory, so to speak. And the more I do it, the more interesting things I discover. I would never have made these small but amazing discoveries if I had never gambled. It's more than just profit. I'd call it intellectual profit. I believe experience is more important than money. Moreover, experience can often be monetized in one way or another, while random profits are easy to lose.
I attended the most interesting lecture on mathematical probability theory at university. The lecturer was a professor with an excellent knowledge of probability theory and had been lecturing for over 30 years.🙋
He explained the probabilities of various events using the example of a coin toss. "If you toss a coin, it will land either heads or tails," he said.
"The probability of the coin landing heads is 50 percent, and the probability of it landing tails is also 50 percent," the professor told us. "But the probability of the coin landing on its edge or hanging in the air is 0 percent." With these words, the professor tossed the coin. The coin flew into the air, landed on its edge, and rolled under the benches. No one saw it again...🧖
That's how I realized that mathematical probability theory is a very fascinating and interesting science! I also realized that practice doesn't always correspond to theory. You can always encounter an unexpected event (and even a miracle).🧚
Gambling is, in my opinion, a great way to study mathematical probability theory through concrete examples.💫
