No addiction is more than the other. Gambling addiction and illegal drugs addiction works differently. In drug addiction can either make one mad or loss everything they have and it is more faster, like a drug addict can use all the money in the account to take drugs and has no gain compare to that of gambling addiction, which can make them borrow or even sell all they have to gamble but might be lucky to win along side. Both are dangerous and could affect your mental health. But based here in our place/community, I still think drug addiction is more dangerous. It makes your emotional health very unstable and makes your rationality worse. There are a lot of addicted gamblers here in my place, but they are still doing fine, while those using drugs aren’t. I think the sensitization programs that do play almost daily about gambling is really working out for those that are addicted to it, I have not heard or witnessed about gamblers taking their lives more often but even in our environs and for the most that don’t get to the news channels, drug addicts suffer a lot, and they mostly become mentally unstable or even end up losing their lives because of how drugs have damaged their internal system.

I have read the article but I’m not still convinced much about what the article says about gambling addicts and drug addicts. In reality, I have witnessed more drug addicts dying and going mentally deranged because of their addiction to drugs than gamblers taking their own lives. Gamblers taking their own lives do happen once in a while in my region, so I still find it hard to believe what this article is saying. It may be true globally, but that’s not the same that applies here as drug addicts suffer most and end up falling victims of this cruel circumstance.

I have seen the worst of both, and I agree that gambling addiction is worse. Well, it makes sense that people with gambling addiction are more prone to suicide than drug addiction.  Drug addicts died of overdose and it is not a form of suicide but rather poisoning without the intention of the person to take their life.

I believe it is not the question of which of them kills more people drugs or gambling but the depth on which the addiction to it is built and the age at which it is treated. The addiction to drugs ruins the body more quickly, whereas gambling addiction is able to ruin money, other relationships and a healthy mind and it can lead to depressing and even suicidal feelings. The threat with gambling is that it always seems innocent at the beginning, thus, people do not take it seriously. Yes, it is better to be more attentive to the gambling addicts and treat them not as the judged but as the supported as the help at the very beginning can help avoid severe consequences.

The two types of addiction is pretty much capable of causing severe harm on the victim, both physically and psychologically. And one thing about these types of addiction is that the victims alone are not the ones who actually suffer for it, their families, loved ones and the people around them actually suffer for it too. I’ve seen cases where someone I know got so addicted to drug that it started affecting him mentally, sometimes he’d go out and destroy the properties of others, get arrested, sometimes even severely beaten and the families would still come to his rescue, at a point they even got tired and decided to take him to the psychiatric hospital and that was the last time I saw him.

I’ve also seen and read about how gambling addiction has also caused severe harm to people, even to the extent of taking their own lives due to frustration and depression. No one is worse, and no one is better, they’re just literally the same.

Actually those who have a serious gambling addiction are significantly more likely to attempt suicide than the general people. In fact even if they do not have depression or drug addiction people who lose everything to gambling are more likely to think about harming themself than those with other addiction. Whatever this is not to say that gambling is worse than any other drug but it is true that its psychological and social effect can be very dangerous in many case. Especially when someone is drowning in debt and the people around them turn their back on them then that person is in danger

Sure all addiction has the ability to ruin peoples lives, there's no argument about that, but what OP is saying here is that gambling has a higher percentage of ruining lives than other forms of abuses that comes from either drugs, alcohol and possibly the food you are making reference to. And the OP is right, because lately I have read and seen more videos of people that are committing suicide because of gambling recklessness, than drug abuse and others.

The problem with drug addiction is that it affects the health while gambling addiction affects finance. I see both to be related and one can lead to the other. Although gambling addiction can easily lead to doing drugs but I think for me, gambling addiction can easily be controlled by the individual involved because he still has his mental ability to think and reason just that the emotional capacity to refrain is what he lacks probably because he is chasing loses. I believe drug is more dangerous in my view because of it direct effect on the body and general wellbeing.

While financially bankrupting is a terrible thing, you still have your life and you can recover if you want, and even if you can't recover, that is not the worst thing a person can live. People do not realize but there are people out there who are dying from warzone bombing, or they are alive and all their loved ones are dead, and they are being in camps.

So, just because you lost money in gambling, that is not the end of the world and you are not going to really be impacted as much as your brain tells you to. Yeah, I get what you mean thwre. Both should be taken seriously,  just in different manner. I do agree that showing support instead of judgment will really make a huge difference. People who are addicted to gambling often hide it out of shame probably not to be labeled mentally ill as others see it, but I think it just makes things worse even more. If more people will be more open and understand the whole situation, maybe a few will never get to that suicidal stuff or worst is killing themselves.

Whether gambling or drugs the both has a higher percentage of ruin lives if they are not well treated, and I must say that drugs addiction is even more dangerous than gambling because when you take it enough it would damage the body organs and one might just die in the process but as for gambling addiction it can only cause you pains and distressed unless you get frustrated and just decide to make impulsive decisions if not that nothing bad can happen to you rather it will just make you go broke, of course there are some people who are still addicted to gamble even till this time yet they are still alive rather they are just living a miserable life, while majority of the people who are addicted to drugs are dying silently due to one health challenge and the other.
