Hi,

I have a piece of paper I saved from before the BCH fork.

I was keeping my BTC in an Electrum wallet on the PC at the time.

I have a 25 word seed straight from the Electrum wallet.

I also have a "Password to encrypt wallet keys" written down.

After the fork, in March of 2018, I sent my BTC to a new Trezor wallet.

And I saved this old Electrum seed and marked it "Use this seed to claim forks"

I have installed Electrum and recovered the wallet successfully, and it shows zero BTC.

For extra safety, I also sent my BTC from the Trezor wallet to a new Trezor wallet because I wanted to upgrade to the new type of Trezor anyway.

Now I want to use the old 25 word seed from Electrum to recover BCH.

I'm having trouble because it doesn't seem to like the 25 word seed.

Thanks for the help!

You'll need to extract the private key of the previously funded BTC address (before the fork), then use a BCH wallet that supports private key import. Check out the recommended BCH wallets on the official website https://bitcoincash.org. Electroncash seems to be the closest option.

A useful resource related to forked coins is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2836875.0

Electrum should not generate 24 words seeds. AFAIK, it always generated 12 word seedphrases. If you have 25 words, it's probably 24 words from a BIP39 wallet (standard used by pretty much every wallet out there) + a passphrase you added yourself. Possibly Trezor?
