do you own a house? in a time where it seems like it is almost impossible to own a house unless you are earning huge amounts i notice that young people often go for apartments instead of actually owning land and a house

can a middle class citizen still afford to buy a house or do they really have to earn ridiculous amount of money in order to buy one?

Having an own house is always dream of every one at least in my culture, but now it's getting near impossible due to high inflation and cost of life, even in many countries peoples are getting worst level of life style because there is nothing easy for them to stay on and improving life style.

In my country, in last one decade things has been going from bad to worse because utility bills and hike in daily use things making life tougher even people are now committing suicide which are really terrible, but they have no way of survive, people in control taking advantage and not giving any solid policy which support their life and bring them up economically.

Recent conflicts and may other problems making life tougher I am not sure with limited sources and have just hand to mouth things can allow people to have their own house easily, too many countries are facing the worst situation despite social media outburst about many developments.

It depends. I assume you're writing from a city where house prices have risen significantly, especially since 2020.

It's possible, but you may have to move to a town several kilometers away from the city.

A person or couple with an average salary, no other income, and no prospects for significant improvement is finding it increasingly difficult.

I was thinking the headline would clearly list out ways that one can actually buy a house at least the information would be helpful to who's in need of it, but nevertheless owning a house simply depends on ones devoted plans and looking at it from this perspective houses this seasons are way expensive though mapping out your plans to achieving that is possible because, you can buy a land in some regions in my country at very attractive price but it'll take a long while before such place would be developed so you don't have to earn a huge amount to purchasing a land but for a house already built you'll have to .

This works for me as well because being living in city is now challenging if we want to have something good then need to change our priorities otherwise suffering and living in dilemma is always on cards.

I try few years, but things have never been easy but now having personal home with good saving and life is also had positive change because living in town with many advantages works after 2020 life getting worst because peoples buying power is limited, and they are facing worst challenges specially in developing countries where no check and balance policy exist.

Two years ago, I successfully purchased a modest house in an urban area, and at the end of last year, I also recently purchased a 700-square-meter plot of land at a relatively affordable price, as it's located in a village, though not too far from the city. This means that anyone willing to strive for it for themselves will certainly find it within their own lives, even if they need a steady income each month, without needing to have a substantial amount. So, everything is still within reach as long as we continue to strive to earn income, and one day, we will have the house or land we've always desired.

Owning a home is a luxury (unless it's in a remote, undesirable area). Young people prefer apartments not because they enjoy them, but because they're cheaper and more accessible. Apartments also allow them to avoid the burden of homeownership, which involves maintaining the building's infrastructure (repairs).

If you can earn money online, you can buy a house in another (cheaper) country, where the price will be correspondingly lower. This isn't the easiest option, given the need to integrate into a different society and overcome all the bureaucratic hurdles associated with legalization your stay.

can a middle class citizen still afford to buy a house or do they really have to earn ridiculous amount of money in order to buy one?
It depends on the country the middle class citizen is in and their income. I think there will be significant variability in house prices (as well as house sizes) across the globe.

You should have included your country as an example in your post so that others could be compared to it.

The topic doesn't have a question mark so I thought you wanted to talk about how to buy a house but from the context you are asking a question. Well, there are no ways around it, to buy a house you need to be financially stable because owning a home is expensive. whether you think of buying or building they are actually expensive, the best option to go with if you are incapable of building or buying is to pay for a rented apartment.

Fortunately, I own a house and when I've bought it it was quite cheap. It's okay to buy a house when you've got a source of income and have it mortgaged. But I see a lot of people that have no longer appetite in doing that when they're going to work forever and pay for the house when they think it's okay to rent it so that there won't be costs of taxes and labor for renovations and repairs. It's also a good idea for them because they can move if they want to anytime.

can a middle class citizen still afford to buy a house or do they really have to earn ridiculous amount of money in order to buy one?
I think so that it's still doable in our country but, the only problem is that the cheaper housing projects are located in far countryside.

People are buying houses that is why new projects are announced all the time, you can see the advertisements to buy the house, but it becomes tougher than before. So you might need a clear plan, if you are from a working class and living from paycheck to paychek. But owning a house is not a smart idea, it is better to invest the money that goes for downpayment and use DCA for any assets with the mortage value so over the period of 20 years you will have money money in hand rather than just one property.

I think the answer depends on where you live. If you are in a developing country like Indonesia, even someone with a low income can still afford to own a house, as long as they buy in a rural area far from the city. However, in urban areas, house prices are still very expensive. It is even difficult to buy a plot of land because the price can be 10 or even 100 times higher than in rural areas.

If we feel that our money is not enough to build or buy a house in the city, we can choose the alternative of building or buying a house in a rural area, which is always cheaper.

It's not that simple. We have to consider a lot of factors while buying a house. First thing you mentioned is lot of youth consider buying apartment flats.
That is because buying a land and then constructing a house on that land involves many challenges and obviously needs more money.
Apartment flats comes with its own convenience of living and lower pricing when compared to buying land and building on it.

To keep make it easier to understand, I would say that we need to consider the price to income ratio while buying a house.
Price to income ratio says that we our income needs to be x to own a house of price y.
For example: If our income is $100k a year and if the price to income ratio is 5x then it will take us 5 years of our income to buy the house.
If we take a loan of 10 to 12 years and save significantly then we can complete our loan within the tenure.

In some places the price to income ratio is less than 5x, some have 10x and some places even have 20x or so.
The best thing would be to look for a house whose price to income ratio is not more than 5x and then we will be able to purchase the house practically.

TLDR: Buy a house whose price is not more than 5x times your annual income.

I was expecting you to outline the ways to buy a house juat like the topic says maybe you should edit so it can suite the context perfectly.  middle class citizen cannot afford to own a house now not, not in this economy unless they inconvenience themselves to save and start gradually and this is going to take years to achieve. only those that are rich can comfortably own a building in our current economy.

There are many middle-class citizens who own houses already, and some of them did not need to have a ridiculous amount of money before they were able to own the houses they have now. Some middle-class citizens had average salaries, but because of proper money management skills and a lot of sacrifices they had to make along the line, they were able to put together an amount of money and be able to afford a home for themselves. The amount spent on a home will depend on the location you're in, that is, the country you are in, and also where in the country you want the home.

To be honest, owning a house now sounds like a dream especially if you look at the prices of lands. Earlier people may have thought of buying land and building a house gradually if they saved up a little but now the reality has changed a bit. So I am not surprised if I see most young people leaning towards flats, because it is relatively more affordable and less hassle, I think it is still possible for middle class people to buy a house but not in one go. Maybe you have to start with something small, take your time. In fact, it is more important to be stable than to get something big. I think it's better to be slow than to force yourself into buying a home that you cannot afford.

I know it is difficult to own a house, but try to aim for one when you have already started getting a stable income and make sure it stays for a few decades for the next generation to start their toes on. Because this is one of those investments that are readily going to pass on to the next generation and they will thrive on it. Once they become stable financially they will buy a new house or maybe they will renovate the old one.

Keep that dream on inside and work hard to generate that income. It will come eventually, the housing bubble is difficult to overcome. Dont be afraid of looking at nearby less known areas, that choice can change the price by some big numbers.

do you own a house? in a time where it seems like it is almost impossible to own a house unless you are earning huge amounts i notice that young people often go for apartments instead of actually owning land and a house

can a middle class citizen still afford to buy a house or do they really have to earn ridiculous amount of money in order to buy one?
Buying a house is not impossible if you have a job that provides you with a minimum monthly income, because the method of owning a house is no longer as complicated as it was in our parents' era. We are now living in 2026, which offers many conveniences for those who want to own a house. All you need to do is pay a down payment and make monthly installments according to the agreement. It’s an easy process, even though it may seem difficult at first, but everything becomes possible if you have the determination and effort to see it through.

In my case, based on my personal experience, I didn’t buy a house but built one gradually. For housing, I chose to live in a rental property that I lease annually at an affordable price.

When it's comes to owning a house we know that this house issue has changed compared to as before and this is not also about if a middle class person can afford a house or not but it's hard to own a house because only the cost of building materials, cost of land and the way the interest rate is has made alot of young people for renting or an apartment because they can afford it for now and not because they are okay with the setting.

Because to buy a land or build a house of your own will require you to be earn a long term salary, you having the patience for it to work and also need help from family. Don't also forget that you will need to make plans and not only that it will require your sacrifice too. It's not that hard to own a house of your own it's just that it will take much longer and tougher to achieve that because it's not that easier now unlike before

Buying a house is very expensive and it depends on the location of the house. For a middle class citizen to be able to buy a house, he must save almost all throughout his days at active service and he needs to go to an area that the cost of living isn't expensive. It's only when you have a good income or other means of income that you will not find it difficult to own a house.

Your point highlights the facts about homeownership and investing. A lot of people thinks that a house give them emotional security and prevent them from rising rent's. But along with this property ownership have taxes and interest costs. If we going towards investing with discipline then we built greater liquidity and also get long term wealth after twenty years. So the selection of choices depends on individuals mentality and patience. Some individuals select the both options having house and investing so with understanding long term consequences and with proper planning people understand that owning a home is best investment ever and its the best decision for every individual belongings to every level of income.
