What wallet software are you using and why?

I use electrum wallet because is more trustworthy, a lot of people in this forum has also reviewed and recommended it to people to use and again it is an open source wallet, it has been a great experience using it because I have not complained for anything, when I decided to try out some other wallet I used unstoppable wallet and it it was great too.
Before I joined this forum I was using trust wallet but when I joined this forum I saw the need to quickly change to electrum wallet.

Initially I was introduced into crypto by using Trust wallet, I hold bitcoin alongside other cryptocurrencies so I make use of trustwallet.

Of recent I’ve moved my bitcoins to electrum wallet as I’ve heard and confirmed it’s one of the best and has low transaction fees too. I use it alongside my Bitget exchange wallet.

Trust Wallet has been my top choice, it's the best and most trusted that I have ever used, after being recommended to me by my friends and crypto colleague.

Trust wallet give you the full control to over your funds as it lets you manually store you seedphrase.

The wallet is even a multi coin wallet as I have even used it over the past month to send and receive different coins from P2P vendors.

I go suggest say make you read Wetin other people for this thread - both new members and high ranks don talk about Trust wallet make you from there make your decision whether you go continue to use am or you move to wallet way dey open source an more secure.

Good one man. I as well use Electrum. Amidst its other features, it has a long track record and as well very transparent. It's very important to be an open source. Howbeit, a noticeable feature is the fact that it's non-custodial, and renders total control of private keys.

I have made attempts on unstoppable wallet also, it's not bad when it comes to multi-asset use, however there's a special security prioritization and a level of maturity when it comes to Electrum for bitcoin. I have made use of Trust Wallet prior but due to my time here, this forum made me get the relevance of self custody, as well as open development. For that I found it smooth and easy to make a switch to Electrum and sincerely, it has been a sweet decision.

Me to be honest na trust wallet I Dey use since I no something concern cryptocurrency, and since I start to they use trust wallet e never give me any issue, I just Dey enjoy am Dey go, I done see other wallet but I never use them because I see no need to use them, when I fit talk say I won try another wallet na when trust wallet done they give me issues but since e never give me issues I go just continue to Dey use am they go, trust wallet na very nice wallet I swear.

Electrum remains the best for me and it is an open source , I can control my assets on my own whenever or wherever I am, it has a high level of security which is paramount to every investor to protect their funds and am okay with it, I found  Electrum wallet very easy to use and as long as my seedpharse are well protected without the knowledge of anyone, I feel good because my wealth is in my hands

Na Electrum and Blue wallet I dey use. I like am because the two of them dey open source and dey support multi-signature and watch-wallet feature. For altcoins, I use Unstoppable wallet, na still open source non-custodial wallet and e dey secure.

Na to test out this your recommendation abi no be recommendation self, I no really know but I will definitely be checking them out, and open source for altcoins will be serving some good purposes rather than continuing to use closed source or thoss ones that claim to be semi open source

Electrum wallet or any wallet doesn’t give the fees you pay for bitcoin you still need to actually check for the right fee to pay for the transaction to get it confirmed. What they do is actually to help you to simply customize your fee to any rate you want or suggest lower fees to you than what is on wallet like trustwallet. Trustwallet might also have fee customization feature but they are actually not able to allow you to use fees as low as what electrum wallet will allow.

Beyond fee customization there is other great features that actually separates the wallets like electrum or blue wallet with wallets like Trustwallet

I have Metamask wallet because I have some bitcoin and some altcoins that I like so I use the same wallet to hold my temporary bitcoin and this altcoins but for my long term investment I have electrum because I am using as a threefold wallet (multi signature), if havw anything temporary I use the metamask because I don’t want to infect my long term investments with some random shit that will end up being a cause why I lost all my coins.

I still use Trust Wallet and metamask , reason is that it's interface is very simple and  that is the one am conversant with since the time I started buying crypto. It was Shiba Inu that was the first coin I bought on my Trust Wallet when I started my crypto journey, so with time I couldn't find my self using another wallet. Currently I only do Bitcoin where I split my savings into two one in Trust Wallet while the other in Metamask.

I use blue wallet for weekly transactions, I use electrum cold storage wallet for my future savings because the private keys are always offline and it is more safer. However, for altcoins cake wallet is what I use since it has the swap features and easy for me to swap from one coin to the other.

OP, it's good that you came up with this thread because some newbies think that Trust wallet is a good wallet. Back to the OP, I use electrum wallet to store all my bitcoin. Electrum hot wallet and electrum cold storage because it has a lot of features and beginners friendly. I seperate my long-term savings from my daily spending. I don't have any altcoins currently, because USD is depreciating over naira but if I have altcoin, I use unstoppable wallet.

Newbies should take note that Trust wallet isn't a safe wallet to use because it's not an open source wallet. Because you haven't encountered any issue does not mean it's safe. If you have funds there, you should transfer it to electrum wallet or blue wallet. If it's usdt, you can use unstoppable wallet. All these wallets are open source.

I use trust wallet, and trust wallet is what I have been using for years now, I’m seeing a lot of people mentioning other wallet, just few persons mentioned trust wallet and in Nigeria the most popular wallet is trust wallet so how come almost everyone is mentioning other wallet, I’m sure everyone has used trust wallet before and if anyone is here and he or she has not used trust wallet that means the person is just new to cryptocurrency, those that has been into cryptocurrency for years must have used trust wallet, and trust wallet is very good, reliable and secured. I do make use of Trezor, Electrum, Unstoppable, and Cake Wallet, and the reason I use them is because they are open source.

Cake wallet synchronizes faster than Unstoppable wallet, but I prefer Unstoppable wallet because it supports more multi-coins than Cake wallet, and you do not need to generate a separate seed phrase whenever you want to add a new coin to your wallet.

Electrum wallet is a popular demand for newbies who knows and understand what open source and a noncustodial wallet is. I started my crypto journey with electrum wallet because I'm only into bitcoin. However, since it's not safe to put all your bitcoin in one wallet, I do use block stream wallet too.

I am thinking of setting up a cold storage electrum wallet since buying a hardware wallet is difficult to get in Nigeria.

You can buy the hardware wallet on their official website, they will ship it to Nigeria. Many hardware wallets can be purchased directly on their site and be shipped to Nigeria.

Alternatively, you can buy the hardware wallet from official reseller on site like Amazon.

But if you have an old laptop and you only want to hold bitcoin, wallet on an airgapped device is better.

When I was new, I started using Trust wallet, even some addresses which I have now imported to the current wallet I'm using were created on trust wallet but after I joined the forum, I discovered unstable wallet and also bluewallet, I like unstable wallet because it is an open source wallet compared to trust wallet that I was using before, as for the blue wallet, I like it because it is specific for Bitcoin and it has different features like signing a signature with the address and you can also top up to the withdrawal fee when sending Bitcoin.

It's not difficult to get an hardware device from Nigeria. You can order online from their official websites. I bought Trezor 3 recently and I received it in 3 days.

Running Electrum on a air-gapped device is very good. To create one, you would need to remove some components of laptop so that the PC will not communicate with the outside world. I don't want to screw it up and that's why I settled for hardware device.

Did you know that Trust Wallet is now regulated by Binance because a few days ago I came across news that users' funds were stolen from Trust Wallet, but they were later returned, so although using this wallet for regular, daily and small transactions is easy for many, there are risks involved it's even risky for Nigerians. However, if you want to store large amounts of Bitcoin or crypto assets, then learn to use a hardware wallet.

Anyway After buying Bitcoin with my hard-earned Naira, I am storing them in my Electrum wallet and some of the features of this wallet are that it is non-custodial and secure. It has lightweight client and cold storage support, and as far as I know, it supports RBF facilities and Lightning Network technology.
