And it talked about that the Generational Advantage that the newest Generation have is AI Technology. We know that AI itself has many flaws and is not infallible. Especially in its parts where it can be possibly be exploited. Threat actors also advance alongside the newest technology. Now this got me thinking on which field is more in-demand and most importantly, lucrative, to start a business on?

Whether companies should focus more on AI creation, or more Security to safeguard these new AI technologies? Which of these are more important?

Both are very important, the ability to use AI will be a general ability that anyone can do so we should also be able to use it because it will be considered a generalist ability, meaning that many people can do it, while cyber security is rare because it requires serious focus in learning it, so this will put specialist skills, in terms of this category it cannot be compared which is more important, whether a generalist or a specialist, and we definitely know the answer, if you want to have a decent salary then you can take the field of cyber security.

You don't have a choice between learning AI and Cybersecurity if your aim is to become a specialist of cybersecurity. There is no profession as an AI specialist because AI can do many things and its role is to help you improve productivity in your speciality. I've had a discussion about AI and programming with friends and many of them said that Cybersecurity is the best profession to get these days because the demand is high, it's less saturated than web development or other professions and even with AI, companies will need cybersecurity specialists for safety.
Just learn Cyber Security and use AI as your helper, which will save you lots of time and make your work easier.

The demand for both will be high by the year 2038, so yes it is a good one for anybody to learn. The both will not be easily displaced by Artificial intelligence.

Lastly, if I'm to add to this, it will be to maximise your mathematics skills. I'm beginning to gravitate towards that way.

Both skills are important in this current technological-driven world. AI is used in almost all fields, and the threat of bad actors is also increasing every day. So both professions are highly in demand.

My advice is not to choose the one that you think will be more profitable. But learn the one you find interesting. It is your interest that will determine your drive or willingness to give your best in the learning process. How lucrative or successful or lucrative it will be will depend on how skillful you are and your ability to package and market yourself.

Business? I don't get it if you refer to it as business. But as far as AI goes, it's just scary how this technology is really progressing. Last year I was into it learning things for 3 months then I suddenly stop learning it for personal reasons.

Now when I look at it, it's advances very fast as I expected and I could be right that's why I don't want or stop learning it or taking advantage. So for me, the most important things is security. I mean it could really go far advance in the next six month that it could really compromised our privacy. So we need to understand on how to protect ourselves from AI through hardened security.

Which of these are more important?

They are two very important skills that will be relevant. Artificial intelligence is the future, and security will always be relevant.

As someone looking to gain expertise in one, you can consider your interest as a way to choose. If you know you are someone who will do better with security, then cybersecurity is for you, but if you are more into creation, then artificial intelligence will be great for you to learn.

The two skills are in demand and will remain so for a long time to come.

What to learn depends on the passion of the person and also the career you would want to pursue. Cybersecurity is good because the skill is of high demand considering how important such role is in every organization. A sound knowledge of it will land an individual a very decent job. Similarly, AI is changing businesses and how things are done and I would say that AI is the future which is why I consider AI a better choice for anyone looking for a way to fit into the demands of the future. Therefore, I will go with AI if given both options; AI resonate more with me since I'm not in the cybersecurity area.

What does AI mean in this case? Learning how to make better prompts? Learning how to train AI or run your own LLM? Make an extension that interacts with local LLM or something else? Feels like the topic is too broad, and some of them are easy enough that you don't have to dedicate a university degree to know about them.

Personally, I've been using LLM to help me learn a new language for the last 6 months or so. At this moment, I know how to set up my LLM, interact with the API at the basic level, and so on, just from reading the docs and guides.

I think AI and security must go hand in hand if you wish to succeed. Building powerful AI or anything without strong security is probably very risky, especially today. And having security without anything to protect is pointless... Simply said, you need to have brains and protection. So you can't have one without the other. If you wish to be successful, you need to work on both.

I don't know if it is relevant to this board, but I will suggest using different platforms for different strategies, because people are usually not searching about products on Google. If you sell products, try to promote them on Social media like Instagram, because that's where they are searching for it, the search volumne exceed billions.

On tiktok, they are either buying it from tiktok shop, or watching tutorials, and from chatgpt they are asking for help, like what they should buy and they try to convince themselves by chatting with chatgpt and eventually they buy it.

As business owners, depending on the nature of what we are doing, like serivce proider, or product sellers etc. We need to create strategies for each platform accordingly. AI is just streamling and fastening the whole procedure.

I did not mean to say Google is losing its traffic or that people are not searching anymore on Google, but due to the high usage of social media, people are using them too, for example, if you will read this article https://ampifire.com/blog/why-google-isnt-enough-the-51-billion-daily-searches-your-business-is-missing/, you will find that people make 6.5 billion daily searches on instagram alone, and for business owners, it is an opportunity.

Now, how can we find what they are searching for? We need to use third-party tools. There are many for searching purposes, you can ask Gemini or ChatGPT for a few.

Google is still trending, but social media is eating, or we can say taking some traffic away from them.

The AI industry is evolving, and cybersecurity is a priority measure to safeguard platforms, so they both have their roles to play and purpose, and both of these need to continue.
So whatever the companies choose to develop, they have a market to serve, and it's in demand and profitable; the most important thing here is that they create something to advance the cause of AI and cybersecurity.

You don't need to study AI and cyber security just because it's trendy and so popular right now. You should study something because you are really interested in that field. There are so many people today who see that AI is a trend, and are interested in getting involved in the field, but once they get into it, they see firsthand how the field does not match their expectations and that makes them stressed and lose interest in it. So it's better to understand your own abilities, then if you are confident about pursuing that field you can jump straight in.

Why not both? If you study cybersecurity you can also study how AI plays a role in it. And if you study AI you can also study how cybersecurity is conducted in AI.
If you study both you can also be an niche expert in two fields. And that is always highler employable/profitable. Especially if you consider running your own business later. Or is this under the context of studying for ones own sake?

Well now AI development is getting most of the attention and funding right now as see it which makes it highly lucrative but for sure as adoption grows so do vulnerabilities and regulatory pressure and the need for protection against exploitation, meaning security will become just as critical, well if not more valuable, over the long term. I honestly dont think it is a matter of choosing one over the other because they both feed into each other and grow together, if anything the smarter opportunity might be positioning at the intersection, building AI systems with security in mind or offering services that protect and audit them well because innovation may attract the spotlight but security is what builds lasting trust and sustainable revenue so you just have to also factor that in.

I don't think you can tell which one is important more than the other because both are important each to other. You can't keep developping AI without taking in consideration the importance of developping cybersecirity in parallel..

If anyone is planing to learn a skill, it does not have to be a choice between AI or cybersecurity, because there are many other things that you can learn that will remain important. Some of these skills are Robotics, software engineering and Development, cloud computing etc. If you can learn this other important skills, you will be sort after too by companies who will pay you as well as what those with knowledge in AI or cybersecurity earn, sometimes even more.
