I would always support the idea that it's a matter of wisdom with or without luck. Most of the wealthy people, especially in the most modern generation have gotten all their wealth primarily due to luck. Most of them are complete idiots, and here you talk about "wisdom". Not even the top billionaires display any sign of any kind of life or business wisdom whatsoever. They are often making the most basic errors imaginable, they can't even hold a marriage together and here you are talking about some "wisdom".   If you started analyzing the list of rich people, you would see that almost all of them were the result of circumstance, connections or family wealth.

The easiest way, IMO, is upskilling. Adding value to yourself by increasing your expertise, through training and certification, could help you earn more. It's definitely something that could be useful in the long run, and skills would always be with you. This would be about long-term investing for yourself.

Yes hard work is the fastest source of success before talking of investment, a successful investor that excludes hard work from his stratagic plans finds it difficult getting to the top as success is the product of time and hard, that means hard work is a special tool in success. Talking about hard work, I love so much a quote from Abraham Lincoln "If I have 6 hours to cut down a tree, I'll spend the first four hours sharpening the axe" It is not entirely about hard work in recent times but about smart work. Most successes we see are a product of years of learning and unlearning on the subject of interest. After the learning phase, execution becomes so precise that it looks like magic. You must train yourself properly to be able to efficiently take on tasks which would in turn bring success to you.
Success is never immediate, there are necessary processes and if you maneuver and skip the processes, you may never get the result and even if you do, such results cannot be sustained for long.
