I brought this story for most of us carrying our self for people to know that we are an investors of Bitcoin, we should stop it because that is very risky and can attract bad eyes to us , life is just once let not allow a blessing to turn something else.
And some people wonder why wealthy people in Nigeria move around with excorts and security personnel. Whether you're a Bitcoin investor, business man, employee, etc; make sure you're security conscious in as much as you're in Nigeria.

I 100% agree with you on working in silence, and also live low-key cause you no know who dey watch you especially when you be big man.
Especially now wey hunger dey land wey many street boys they look for any way to use survive.  My bro, street no just clear at the moment, men need to dey very careful because you wey they ball, for your own end weather clear things soft but for the next man side to even see one time eat self na wahala.

So on how e clear for your side, still remember say the next man no get joy and anything fit sub. So the only matter there be say even if your power never reach to arrange security personnel for your self, try dey on a very low key. Make people hardly know what they sub for your end, or even if you wan ball still use your head otherwise negas go run you street and you go feel am Wella.

Working in silence and not making mouth about your assets is good especially for those of us that lives in a country that is experiencing insecurity challenges and criminality. In other way round, it is very bad that we find ourselves in an environment that you can't even be proud of what you are doing to earn a living because anyone who is doing that automatically identifies himself to criminals but things like this do not happen often in western countries because they have several means of capturing criminals. But i don't really know the reason why some persons like bragging about their wealth or their source of income. Why not just go silent and make your money peacefully. Sometimes you can't blame them because some of them does that in order to also encourage others to do what they are doing and make a living from it.

I have always say that telling people about ones asset or investment is a dangerous thing to do because you may not know who you are telling about yourself and there was a thread I saw where someone used his Bitcoin to make payment and trust me that was another way of telling people they have something really big or great on that asset. I know sometimes people will always want to show off but that will be at someone's detriment because there are evil people everywhere who don't want our success.

It is some people's nature to show off what they got. It can never be hidden in them except they consciously discipline themselves to control that nature otherwise it would be there and they could do nothing about it.
Sometimes keeping things to yourself help keep you safe from bad actors. It prevents crimes and attack against you if no one knows your in and out and better to keep them confused than to get you easily predicted which is very dangerous. He has been on their trail for long hence they were able to attack him because he possibly is a loud mouth that could not keep things to himself.

People fail to understand that when they are physically under attack with arms or dangerous weapon, if all means to escape proves abortive, you surrender except for situation when there is a rescue from external force taking the attackers unawares that is when their attention is divided and they would be under panic to escape and even at then, you have to be very careful and cautious because you might sustain injury. When under attack do not defend yourself but rather surrender even the officers know this principle or rules.

If not because of how wicked the world has become I don't see any bad thing in telling someone what you have or what you invested in because there's no big deal about it but coming to this side of the world where people are so mean to their fellow humans it is dangerous to disclose who you are or what you have so that you won't get into trouble. Since we don't know who to trust again it is better to stay low key, do your investments, run your business, enjoy yourself, travel round the world but do not let people that knows you know anything abjut what you have so they won't plan evil for you.

You are absolutely correct, the world is a wicked place where i can't no longer disclose my intention to anybody telling someone what i have in mind, they can turn it against you even the bitcoin investment even if try to happen people by telling they about bitcoin they will mock you these set of people will still plan when have make it in life so since we don't know who to depend it is better to remain calm to your bitcoin investment and also do your business without involving your self with a traitor.

Another tragedy in my hood has just sparked mixed reactions accross my neighborhood this morning. Their is this guy in my neighborhood though he's not a close friend of mine but he has always being showing his self to be a Bitcoin boss in my area and people have been according him that respect to be someone that's doing well (financially) and it is very obvious so to speak.

This morning the news we are hearing is that he was robbed last night when going out to have fun being valentine's day, at the process maybe he was trying to resist or acting stubborn one of the guy (robbers) stabbed him at his back for them to be able to collect all his valuables that was on him but I guess he was later rush to the hospital.

However, we haven't hear further to know is present state on his health but I just hope he will be fine. I brought this story for most of us carrying our self for people to know that we are an investors of Bitcoin, we should stop it because that is very risky and can attract bad eyes to us , life is just once let not allow a blessing to turn something else.
sometimes the smartest thing to do is work in silence, you don’t need to let anybody know that you are about to buy bitcoin or how much you want to invest or even what your next steps are and how much you have been able to make so far. The more you tell them the more pressure and irrelevant attention you invite.work quietly, learn and invest responsibly.learn to safeguard your bitcoin assets and details too and do not also allow people’s success stories pressure you into making reckless decisions.
Lastly bitcoin is a long term game for many investors which means you can be quietly focus on learning, managing your risk, securing your assets and your position according to your own strategy why other continue to pursue fast profits ,showing off their trades and making noise about every of the markets movement.

The problem with some people is that when they own a little money, they want to take themselves to a different level of society. They bring more changes than necessary to their daily lives, basically they bring their own dangers. When we keep telling people about our financial situation, our enemies increase instead of our friends.

OP, the incident you mentioned may not have happened because a person had Bitcoin or crypto, but rather he used to regularly show off valuable things in front of people. For example: expensive phones, expensive watches, gold jewelry, etc.

I agree with you, no be the fact say him tell dem say him de do crypto ni cause this things, it was the fact that he portrayed himself as someone that is the reason he was mugged and I don't think it had to even do with the noise, it's everywhere especially in this country, alot of this thugs knows the value of the accessories and clothing you wear and you can still get mugged for that, it's an unfortunate one for him and UT can happen to any one.

But facts remain say make we no de show our detty laundries outside, aside being mugged, it can make people want to beg from and those attention is not worth it.

Being involved in Bitcoin and having knowledge of it has taught me how to be private especially when it comes to the things I say outside and I never make the mistake of speaking about Bitcoin or even claiming to be a boss because everyone knows that Bitcoin is very valuable as everyone is talking about it on the media, I have seen or heard cases like this related to Bitcoin and with the level of insecurity everywhere now being private about your source of income and investments is the best way to get the eyes of greedy people away from you. Bitcoin is not something you show off to everyone because it's very valuable and everyone wants it and he obviously made himself available to criminals

Silence doesn't just speak louder than noise, it gives you security. There is a saying that goes; people can attack what they cannot see. I like that phrase so much because it helps me stay secured with my decision of staying silent rather than ranting about my achievements, especially online. I know of few person who would give out a lot of information about them just so they receive praises from their audience, is that really worth it? Personally my answer to that question is no because you might be endangering yourself and your loved ones around you if you keep giving out so many information that's not needed to be given out. When it comes down to Bitcoin, we know how decentralized Bitcoin is and the main reason why it was created in the first place if you give out that information then you're no different from NTA morning news.

That’s a really sad situation and unfortunately it’s not something that's unique to Nigeria, it's a global security threat. Publicly displaying wealth whether crypto, cash or lifestyle can make someone a target anywhere.

A lot of us in the crypto space think security is just about hardware wallets and passwords but personal privacy matters just as much. As a crypto guy, it's very important to avoid oversharing online, don’t broadcast your holdings and keep your real-life identity separate from your crypto activity as much as possible. From the lessons I've learnt from similar incidents, I've come to the conclusion that staying low-key is often the simplest and strongest layer of security.
Anyone staying in Nigeria should be security cautious, the rich and the poor no body is safe again. People should learn to stay on a low key no matter how much they have in there bank account though i have seen Young people now who has made money in one or two ways and still refuse to be calm, the world now is a wicked place will have more enemies the moment you become successful in life they will always want you down, it's even good to tell people that you are investing in bitcoin because ones they hear bitcoin they already believe you are rich so is either you get kill or they kidnapped you so you can pay some of the money you brag about.

There's nothing wrong if you make payment with bitcoin, because the purpose for which bitcoin was created was for daily transactions due to the issues we were having with banks. Although I understand your point why it's not safe to make make bitcoin payments or discuss it openly to everyone, it's because people see it more as an investment than for day to day transactions. They might assume that you have a lot of it and they could plan evil against you. But does this mean we shouldn't make payments with bitcoin?

This is unfortunate to hear, i just pray that the said vuy is good an fine snd recovers quickly. You made a very import point with the current stste of the nigerian state, this should sound as a very big lesson to us as nigerians not nust in the area of crypto currency but in everything in life. Most people in the country see those into crypto currency as those who are rich and view them with that kind of mindedt, this can attract unneccesary attention to you an someone into crypto. Nigeria is a very sensible society so we should be carefull with the way that we do our things as people into crypto currency.

Its important that we should not make ourselfs that known to outsiders as been into crypto and rich, living a lifestyle that is flashsy and making prople to put attention to us. We should be carefull the kind of people that we disclose our self into because there is so much misconception about crypto. Most people view crypto as a lucreative busines and so anyone who is into crypto is rich, this is a very big misconceotion that we have in the nigeria society.

Criminal minded people can actully take advantage of things like this and use it against prople who are not sensitive, in taking cognigence of their enviroment.

See my brother the truth is that people fail to realize that having to tell people you have bitcoin is not something’s special well I feel sorry for those guys out there putting there self as a target tell people they have bitcoin and the real life experience had through me a lesson and every investor should learn….sometime you own nobody any expectations and explanation….on a second through just that some people are just opened mouthed so it just to impossible.
There are people out there that may not no the risk involved with with giving out information that has to do with their Bitcoin investment, you know some persons can be stupid, by talking about their Bitcoin, they feel that people will see them as rich boys or something, as for learning, I do not need anybody to tell me that I need to keep my mouth shut as it concerns my Bitcoin, it is my personal stuff, no one is supposed to hear about it.
Maybe this forum has help many of us to learn to keep our Bitcoin hodlings secrets to avoid putting ourselves into big shit, there are things I do not discuss with people, especially my hodlings that's a no no no for me.

It's not really about someone not wanting your success or not... It's just a regular security protocol that needs to be taken in order to become less vulnerable to anyone at all, including those who you don't know in person. And as for making payments, well, we barely have shops or physical services that accepts Bitcoin payments, but in a case of online payments, there's a little or zero risks attached to that. But again, the world does not care/know when an individual keeps his/her financial life private. They only attract attention to themselves when they feel there's something to prove. Like I keep saying, we as humans are sometimes our own vulnerability

Even if you pay with Bitcoin, criminals can track or understand it, so whatever we do with Bitcoin, we have to do it very secretly so that criminals don't realize that we have a lot of Bitcoin. Also, talking about investing in Bitcoin as a wealth is a dangerous thing, even if the information that someone has Bitcoin or crypto currency is leaked in a small amount, criminals can attack.

As evidenced by a thread I saw, after information was leaked on the dark web, a crypto gang accidentally attacked a French couple three times and they suspected that the couple had 1 million euros worth of crypto currency or Bitcoin, so it can be said that even if someone has $ 1000 worth of Bitcoin, it should not be shown to people, and everyone should buy Bitcoin through this local currency and save it with great secrecy.

Privacy is very important, see what is happening in French. The highest wrench attack occured in France last year, but we have heard about 3 well know cases this year now. But well know people like Binance worker that is well know are the people that the bad people are attacking.
Talking about Wrench attacks,  France is turning to something else, over 30 wrench attacks just towards might of this year. Privacy is non-negotiable of we must survive in this crypto space. There's actually no need for show off. Bitcoin was invented for privacy and those who show off defeats that purpose. I believe people should learn from the ordeal of others on the importance of staying private with crypto holdings. I don't think the government, especially of France is doing enough to eradicate these wrench attacks affecting it's citizens.

In this part of the world, whenever people hear about someone who is into bitcoin they assume that the person is wealthy that is why it is very risky to even tell people that you are into cryptocurrency, except those who you trust or those who are also into cryptocurrency with you.

Someone like me, I don't discuss anything cryptocurrency or bitcoin with anyone who is not a bitcoiner because the enviness in people now is just too much. People don't even want to see a young man that is doing well for himself they will be so pained so it is better to live a private life.

Whatever investment that we make especially in Bitcoin it is important to always know that they are for ourself and not for anyone's validation or recognition, people cannot destroy what they don't know, that's the power of privacy. With the current economic state of the country a lot of people are trying to do whatever they can to survive and that includes stealing, disclosing your Bitcoin assets or portfolio for others to know that you are investing in Bitcoin is just a senseless thing to do. Working in silence and achieving your goals isnfar better because the results you get will speak for theirself.

Bitcoin is not something you show off to everyone because it's very valuable and everyone wants it and he obviously made himself available to criminals
It's better we keep a low profile when dealing with stuff like Bitcoin mostly in this recent time that crime has become the order of the day. However, making our move to be more confidential will do us alot when it comes to safety. Criminals hate it when someone start showing off especially when it's about Bitcoin investment , they believe it involves a whole lot of money therefore will be bend at all means just to hurt you down. Hence, i believe this serves as a lesson to some other person's that has plans of making same moves in their investment life.
