After 10 years, he still doesn't realize that gambling is not for him, or maybe now he has realized it & admitted that all those losses will never come back, except by working like he should. The first aid for him was that he had to stay away from his friends, that's what made him try again & again.

It totally depends on his mentality because if he fails to take the right decision. Then he can never come back from it. According to his words, he is still loyal to gambling. And I think to get out of gambling, he has to stay away from his friend. Moreover, he must always remember that he can come back from it and move on with this self-world. To be honest, his desire plays the biggest role behind the repeated attempts. He would never have tried it if he hadn't wanted to gamble.

Addiction works like a loop the mind keeps justifying the same destructive behavior over and over until the person finally breaks the cycle themselves no amount of advice or warnings can truly help if the individual isn’t mentally ready to change what makes it worse is the environment if he keeps surrounding himself with gambling friends then relapse becomes inevitable because those friends will trigger the same urges that keep him trapped. Stepping away from that circle is the first real act of recovery distance gives perspective it allows space for reflection and awareness only then can someone start rebuilding discipline and finding value in something else beyond gambling.

The truth is that addiction rewires priorities it replaces logic with craving and the longer it lasts the harder it becomes to separate the self from the habit but with consistency the brain can be retrained once he focuses on work personal goals and healthier outlets the same energy that once fueled addiction can drive growth again.

Advice will never take effect on gamblers who never change their mindset as well. In fact, we heard much advice in the forum, yet many are still addicted. Are these people learning, or do they just follow their emotions? They are following what they believe would credit them, despite their actions being wrong. Trying to beat the casino when it was impossible. So no wonder they are in regret and blaming themselves, because they are at fault.

This is the truth: gamblers will only change when they are already facing a financial crisis.
We will not stop giving out advice even if people ignore it. Experience is not always the best teacher because some experiences can be costly. Some might have gotten this advice and amended their ways.

I have seen a few threads where some members said they were able to fight and overcome addiction. If facing financial problems will make them change, that's okay. The problem is that some keep gambling even when they are in deep debt until it affects their health, job and relationship.

I have been gambling for the past ten years now and seriously I must say I have lost more than I have profited thou it feels as if I should keep on trying so I can recover back my losses but that's the more money I keep on losing sometimes I will delete the app to free myself from it then during the week ends my friends will show me some nice games asking if I have interest in it then the spirit comes and I will download back the app and I will go back to what has been eating me up is so addicting that I called the app my daily food.
Some persons out there might be facing the same situation and it is affecting there state of mind and how they live there life's the fact is to just let go you can't recover those losses is gone just accept defeat and move on though is hard but you have to that's what I did

I believe that in this case, the best way out would be to write down in the excel spreadsheet on a piece of paper the plan according to which you are going to get your money back, not by gambling, but by using some monetized hobby or deferring periodically from your salary. And I advise you to write down that you will save $ 10 every month in order to eventually recover your losses slowly but surely. I think it's much better to know the date when your losses will be fully reimbursed than to constantly think about the app and the fact that you want to gamble.

You're right, just like you said that experience is not always the best teacher and surely some experience is costly those who have gotten the advice and also see how gambling dealt with most people would definitely find a way to make amend because they wouldn't want to experience the same thing  while some folks especially those that doesn't believe in theory is likely to overlook or pay less attention to the advice gotten from those experienced gamblers until it hit them on the four Head that's when they will learn if at all they will learn from their own personal experience. So advice is meant for those that has ears not the ones that have ears but don't know how to make use of them.

1.Stop chasing any losses. Just tell yourself that you can't recover your losses and move on with your life. Gambling isn't meant to be profitable for the gamblers. It's meant to be profitable for the casino. Chasing losses would only lead you to losing more and having to chase bigger losses.
2.It seems that your friends are gamblers just like you. Having a social circle full of gamblers can feed your gambling addiction, so you must try to stay away from the gamblers inside your social circle.
3.Try to gamble moderately and to maintain the perception of gambling as a fun activity rather than a money making opportunity. If your addiction becomes too strong, just avoid gambling completely and get rid of all gamblers, who are your friends.

Honestly, I would have tried to get any meaningful support from a psychologist if I found myself in a situation like this one. It is very dire to be addicted to gambling and allowing such addiction to grow out control.

Most people are very nonchalant even while they have observed that they are gradually getting addicted to  gambling, they will act less concerned until they have become worse than they can imagine, while in some cases, even this person that would be struggling with addiction doesn't have money to pay a psychologist because the one time payment that is demanded by the doctor is too big for them. Yours is good that you can get yourself a psychologist if you are having the symptom.

The reason things like this keep happening to you is because you're gambling with the wrong mindset. It's ok to gamble with the mindset of making profit but how far has it helped you. If you keep doing same thing over and over again don expect another result because same input rarely produce different output. This is normal mathematics that can be applied to all areas of our lifes. The best part is to try something different if you dont find it fun then you need to reduce your bet to what you can afford to lose without triggering any emotional response toward losses. I basically don't gamble often and that helps me control how much I spend in gamble.

Understanding that you have a problem is already half the battle. Now it's your turn, and it's important to decide to sit down, take stock, and realize that you've been losing money for a long time and it's not benefiting you. Perhaps it's worth taking a break for a month or two and monitoring your condition. If you find yourself drawn to gambling further, don't be afraid to seek professional help, describe the problem, and resolve it.

I also think that adequate and not too frequent play allows us to have much better control over the situation in the game and over our emotions. I still want to be in control of the game process, rather than the game controlling me in many moments, although this is usually something none of the addicted players want to admit. Addicts often shout that they are not dependent and the game does not even come close to controlling them. I often see this and immediately realize that the player is too attached to the game that he reacts so violently.

I don`t know how to live with addiction. But i think that rules are the same for all kinds.
First of all you need to stop. Stop and think. The best situation if you have friends, family - someone, who can hear you, give some advice and support you.
After it you must develop a plan/strategy how to change your life, how to solve problems you have due to addiction. And step by step change yourself.
Easy to say, hard to do.
Its alway easier in the saying, than in the doing, especially in the case of an addiction.

A little consistent discipline after a couple of attempts would help trigger the brain to sense a form of danger when gambling and build the mind to accept losses and move on.

Moving on is one of the hardest things to do in gambling, because it gives a form of hope at any point in time. That alone excites the brain to keep going and harder to accept losses.
Lots of depends on gambler.
I like to plan everything, calculate everything, so for me it is easy to plan my life step by step, to calculate losses from gambling, etc. But it is good for me. My wife, for example, can`t calculate expenses and plan any big purchases. It would be good, if gambler can plan it the same way, or he has someone who will help with plan and will control it.

To stop the game again helps maths - when you see your spends and wins on one page, and on second page see that expenses grow up every week - you understand that you have to stop easier and faster.

It is a difficult thing for an addicted gambler to quit from gambling, and it only take courage and very determined heart to quit. You just made a good decision and your advice is also very encouraging. Do not continue with gambling just because you want to recover your losses, you will definitely keep loosing more money. The idea of chasing your loses and wanting to recover is what has made many gamblers not to quit even when they make more losses than they gain.
Gambling cannot favour everyone, and if you discover gambling is eating you up and depriving you from other necessary things, the ideal thing to do is to quit.

Why don't you take the initiative to talk to your friends so they stop suggesting you play or talking about it? Simply replace that activity with something else, like exercising or watching a movie. When you're distracted, it's easier to lose the anxiety you must be feeling, since 10 years is a lot of time dedicated to it. And as you mentioned, the advice seems to affect you, so it's clear you're not playing in a healthy way... because most people lose, but they don't see it as a problem, but rather as something that can happen when playing.

During addiction,a lot of persons lose touch with reality to an irresistible point.First and foremost, tracking gambling days/playing hours can significantly minimize high level addiction. For instance use methods like;how many days to gamble, how many hours per day to gamble and how much you'll spend to gamble. This doesn't just makes you accountable but also marks out boundaries. For some, tracking is not going to be enough, but it does helps.

Gambling addiction affects different areas of a persons life, it isn't just financially but also mentally and emotionally as well. Those Addicted to gambling cannot be productive in life because their whole mind is stuck on gambling. Pne misconception some Addicted gamblers have is that recovering from gambling addiction is impossible but this is not true, it is a slow process but possible to achieve.
What make chasing the loses alone effective is the fact that the gambler focus of the financial aspects and abounding the mental aspect of things, and there by even when the financial aspects is achieved is still feels negative for the gambler since their main aim is not achieved even with a refund and balance bankroll.

This single reality makes gambling a game of chance that only your approach makes up for your overall experience.

Making sure there is proper time and money management along side your mental wellbeing is most important, many gambler's don't pay attention to this aspect.

Addiction is all engulfing and when you are in the grip of it you simply cannot see the problem you are trapped inside. You often build up layers of lies that you tell yourself in order to justify continuing the addiction, even if there are chemical addiction elements (if we're talking about drugs which includes nicotine). You cannot picture your routine without the addiction, which is one of the reasons it is so hard to quit. Addictions can take a while to form, but once you're in it you can end up with a habit that lasts years or decades, if you're ever even able to break free. Moderation is healthy, doing any one activity too much is unhealthy, that's what you should always have in mind. Another difficult part is letting go of all the wasted time and money you've spent up to that point.

Gambling is not an activity for those that think that they can gamble and make money without losing it back to the gambling platform they are using. This is why majority of gamblers especially the new ones will complain of addiction because they don't understand that gambling does not entertain continuous winning without losing money to the casino. Those gamblers that had been gambling for long understand that the profit and lose mechanism.

It's not easy to cope with an addiction when you feel like you're somehow feeding it , I can't feel that way when it's money , firstly because I have everything planned, I use it for absolutely everything , If I overdo it with an activity and spend my money, that's very, very bad for me I don't do it alone for that reason. I recommend that people who can't control themselves find something they can't fail at.

Awareness is something that everyone can feel, whether it is negative or positive. And being aware of your mistakes is good, and you are right in saying that after that, it all depends on yourself, whether you will evaluate yourself or continue doing the same thing even though you are aware that it is wrong. If you have experienced a significant loss, it is indeed a good idea to take a break. Here, taking a break does not mean resting physically, but rather resting your mind and mental state. Continuing to gamble even if you win does not guarantee that your problems will be solved, especially since there is no guarantee that you will win. Most people are too ashamed to admit their addiction, which prevents them from seeking help.

Gambling is an activity to fills their spare time but not for make money. Many people don't realize but still trying to make money. If they lose, that will not makes them realize but will still gambling and hopes that they will win next rounds.

That makes many people getting addicted to gambling but they still thinking that they are fine. They should realize playing gambling over can making them addicted and will be a chaos for their lives.
