Activity: Legendary, 6200+ merit

What happened

We launched SatScratch.com — a UK-registered Bitcoin scratch card game.

We posted an announcement thread: thread link

Charles-Tim's response:

Post #2:
Quote from: Charles-Tim
This is definitely a scam

Post #6:
Quote from: Charles-Tim
Scammer, go elsewhere to scam, this forum is not for people like you.

No explanation. No evidence. No specific concern raised. Just two drive-by posts calling us a scam.

When we responded with details, they didn't engage with any of it. Just repeated "scammer."

Charles-Tim ignored this too and continued with baseless attacks.

Why this is a problem

A Legendary member with 6,000+ merit throwing "scam" around with zero evidence carries weight on this forum. New members reading the thread see that tag and move on. It damages real businesses.

We're not asking for special treatment. If there's a specific concern about SatScratch — ask it. We'll answer it publicly. That's what we've been doing in the thread. But "scammer, go elsewhere" with nothing behind it isn't protecting the community. It's just bullying a new member who can't even reply faster than once every 360 seconds. We will fix any bugs you see. Even refund.

What we're asking

Either Charles-Tim provides a specific, factual reason he believes SatScratch is a scam — or the community recognises these posts for what they are: lazy, evidence-free accusations from someone who should know better.

Evidence
- Our announcement thread: link
- Charles-Tim's posts: #2 and #6 in that thread
- Our responses with company verification: posts #4 and #5
- Don Pedro Dinero's response disagreeing with the accusation: post #7

LMAO he isn't misusing his Legendary status, in any case he would be misusing his DT status but I take it you are too new on the forum to know the difference.

There are some cases where a thread is simply a scam and no more explanation is needed in the feedback but your thread doesn't seem to be one to me, hence my neutral feedback to counteract Charles-Tim's one.

Thank you. This helps! You are nice and kind person!

Let's see what the rest of the community has to say, but your case doesn't seem like a clear scam to me. There are other cases, such as when they offer a 50% weekly return on a supposed money-making system, where there's not much else to explain. If there are other members who think like me, I hope Charles-Tim reconsiders and deletes his tag or changes it to neutral with other words.

I have huge respect for Charles-Tim's opinion and feedback. When you're on this forum for that long and have seen and read about different schemes and scams, you develop a sense of whether something is a scam.

So let's wait for Charles-Tim's opinion on your platform; maybe he has seen something similar to one of the scams that he encountered in the past.

Additional note: This is worth mentioning here, too, now it's not only Charles-Tim but many of us as well think that if you cannot show proof

@SatScratch why not post poof of funds, just to make sure that you have the capacity to pay 1BTC in case someone wins. Otherwise, there is no reason to believe that @Charles-Tim's assumption is wrong.

We launched SatScratch.com — a UK-registered Bitcoin scratch card game.

What's your license number?
You need a license from the UK Gambling Commission as long as you offer any kind of paid scratch game to anyone in UK.

Really good question! Thank you for asking the right question stompix.

-----------------

SatScratch is not gambling. It's a prize competition under Section 14(5) of the Gambling Act 2005.

The legal distinction is simple: if the first determining factor is skill, not chance, it's a prize competition — not a lottery or gambling product. The UK Gambling Commission does not regulate prize competitions.

Our flow:

1. Player pays
2. Skill question first — get it wrong, game over, no scratch card  | questions are bitcoin related
3. Only if you pass the skill gate do you get a scratch card

The skill element is the first barrier. That's what makes it a prize competition, not gambling. Same legal framework used by:

- BOTB (Best of the Best) — been running prize competitions since 1999, listed on the London Stock Exchange. You answer a skill question to win cars worth £100k+. No gambling licence.
- Omaze UK — prize draws for houses worth £1m+. Skill-based entry.
- 7days Performance — win supercars and houses through skill-based competitions. No gambling licence.
- Every newspaper, magazine, and TV phone-in quiz that says "answer this question to enter" — all prize competitions, all legal, none regulated by the Gambling Commission.

The Gambling Commission themselves explain it here: Prize competitions and free draws

And to be clear — our questions are genuinely hard. This isn't "what colour is the sky" as a token gate. The questions test real Bitcoin knowledge across multiple difficulty levels. A significant proportion of players get them wrong and don't get a card. That's the whole point of a skill gate — it has to actually filter people out to be legally valid.

We built this because we love Bitcoin and wanted a fun way for the community to test their knowledge and win sats. That's it. No token sale. No investment scheme. No deposits. Just a £1 card, a hard question, and a scratch grid.

Happy to go deeper on the legal side if anyone's interested.

Accepted that you are not trying to scam, post the proof of fund that you have 1 BTC that would be given to anyone that gets all the answers right.

All you need to do is to sign a message with the bitcoin address holding the coin.

We launched SatScratch.com — a UK-registered Bitcoin scratch card game.
Anyone can register a virtual offshore company in the UK. If I remember correctly, opening such a "company" costs about 50£.
Usually, such 'companies' are registered by scammers to add some fake authority to their business.
Vivek Dhiman, is that you?

You have already been told to give proof that you have 1 BTC in your possession, intended for what you are offering. It's even better to deposit it somewhere in a trusted escrow.
You are new here, you offer some fairy tales, that's why we trust Charles-Tim, who has been here for years, more than you, who came just to take some money.

Your is not just skill based is luck based, it's still a lottery and it's luck-driven, paywalled by a fee. You need a license!

You've actually quoted the exact legislation that proves our point. Let's read it properly.

Your quote says a simple lottery requires prizes "allocated wholly by chance".

Key word: wholly.

In SatScratch, prizes are NOT allocated wholly by chance. Here's the flow:

1. Player pays
2. Skill question — get it wrong, game over, no prize, no scratch card
3. Only if you pass the skill gate do you reach the chance element

The skill question is the first determining process. A significant proportion of players fail it and receive nothing. That's the legal test under Section 14(5).

OP is correct. The feedback left by Charles-Tim isn't very helpful as it just says "scam" and then points to OP's product thread. There are of course a million reasons why nobody should trust a new bitcoin game website, but they are due the same chance as everyone else.

OP: Charles-Tim considers it appropriate to pre-emptively tag your account based on what he perceives to be warning signs - that is his prerogative - perhaps you can persuade him to change it in the future.

For me, demonstrating proof of funds would be the first step. It sounds like you're working on that. Don't let a single member's feedback stop you if you know you have honest intentions. Also, I would delete the retaliatory feedback you left on Charles-Tim... it serves no purpose and won't help you in any way.

Anyone can register a virtual offshore company in the UK. If I remember correctly, opening such a "company" costs about 50£.
Usually, such 'companies' are registered by scammers to add some fake authority to their business.p
I am surprised that they don't have that notorious "Certificate of Incorporation" on their website serving as some sort of proof that they are legitimate while its usually a major red flag.

@SatScratch Charles-Tim made it easy for you - sign a message with address holding 1+ bitcoin. If you don't, result of this thread will probably be more negative feedbacks, or even a flag.

Accepted that you are not trying to scam, post the proof of fund that you have 1 BTC that would be given to anyone that gets all the answers right.

All you need to do is to sign a message with the bitcoin address holding the coin.

That's a good way for him to try to show he is not trying to scam, but whenever a new casino comes to the forum are we going to red tag them until they show proof of reserves? Some casinos do publish them but AFAIK not all of them and when a new casino has come to the forum I don't remember people asking them for proof of their reserves otherwise red tagging them or what's more: red tagging them and asking for proof of reserves after.

I would say yes, if they make extraordinary claims.  AI can make a game or casino in hours and make it look backed by something, but often it's a 16 year old with pimples that one cannot hold legally or financially responsible.   Proving they have the funds to pay a claim is a requirement should a victim ever want to be compensated.

Proof of funds as promised.

Address: bc1qgtam06pc77nk74dqkzg28hpvap8a9jlpd5d7dr
Message: "Proof of funds for SatScratch.com - We are SatScratch on Bitcointalk proving ownership of this wallet (0.5 BTC) for satscratch.com. Rest of our Bitcoin holdings are in separate cold wallets for security purposes. 16-Feb-2026."
Signature: IDD00Q78+LiMxQ5MaaAd7m7IYx2WHHHQRy7oHqcV/VaILTXNHqtYn6N+59x5X95efayoD8IPPMynaa9A7nEkNzg=

Anyone can verify this independently. Operating wallet holds 0.5 BTC. Additional reserves in cold storage.

Retaliatory feedback has been removed — fair advice, appreciated.

We've now delivered: signed proof of funds, provably fair system (satscratch.com/provably-fair), and answered every question raised in both threads.

If there's a specific concern we haven't addressed — ask it. Otherwise we'd appreciate the feedback being reconsidered.

Invalid signature.

I have tried to verify it on both Electrum and Bluewallet, but the signature is not valid.

Let me assume I made mistake, let other people verify it first.

Edit:
You should be able to sign a message with your bitcoin address on a reputed cold wallet if you want it. There should be ways you can go about it.

Regardless, at the address bc1qgtam06pc77nk74dqkzg28hpvap8a9jlpd5d7dr I see a couple of today's transactions, obviously with the purpose of displaying them here. It is still half the 0.5 BTC of what it offers as the main prize in its game
