I would like to know about your say on the Advantages and disadvantages of making an early public announcement to run for a political post. This is what have been in my mind thinking for sometime now how individuals switches candidate ship from someone who have been doing so much for his/her people to someone who just burst out of nowhere to contest for the same position as the person they have known for a long time. I am talking with experience on how the general public in my vicinity chose to switch there support on someone who have been helpful to the society to someone who just came out to announce his intention to contest for the same post as the other person, is this happening all because of greed and love for money or is it my thought or am I over thinking things. For now I only have idea on the disadvantage aspect and will love to hear other opinions and thought on the matter

The advantage is that they'll know their political rivals if that politician who announced their running earlier. But that will be a disadvantage for their opponents if that person is quite strong and the one to beat. Normally, there are no permanent friends in the politics and if that person that announces it too early that they'll run, those who want to survive politically will either join them or go away from them. That's how it goes for the politicians and for the citizens, they know who to vote and if that person will actually do the things a public servant does.

That is usually caused by political godfatherism and such system of politics jeopardizes the people (masses) mandates.
In such cases whoever emerges the winner is always out of manipulations (rigging) being appointed by some executives while masses votes are void in the election pools.

This Is though not strange because it has become an adoption that even a serving leader once leaving office would want to install someone else he can control.

The disadvantage is always that... The people will get unqualified representative who does not have the capacity to lead.
The leader in such appointed cases will always limited to exercise his power while reserves space for their political godfathers.

The people feel happier to get what they agitate for that's the first advantage, the disadvantage has a lot to do with solving a particular problem which the people's man would have no experience about solving on the first few months or years in office with his personal agenda. Some leaders don't even talk about the problem anymore. In a system like that the people's mind would change too often and if there are no customized duration of leadership - say the new person has to rule for 3 years, the problem could be left untouched for a longer duration until something like a revolution happens, which relies so much on the system of government practised in your locality.

Political is a public engagement and only meant for those that thinks they have the leadership kind of trait to lead and protect the people, not just by words of mouth, but in their actions, so they need to make public appearance because its part of the ways they can campaign for their ambition and be well recognized, only that they have to be well prepared for the task ahead and never lose guard.

From the federal level politics in the way I tried to understand it is that aspirants came out public after the party approval but in the local politics that usually comes through zones, anybody within the zone it belongs to has the right to start anytime they like, some even began to go public three years before the election to be very viral but however early starting doesn't make someone most suitable or advantage than any other person aspiring for the position because the decision of whom would win depends on people that would vote them so if they do not like the person who started before others there is no way they would be elected.

In simple terms, it gives more time for the individual to reach more people, the politics is all about number of votes so trying as soon as possible can help with that but on other hand it gives the idea for the competitor to know your weakness and if you have any they will try to bring you down using their influence.

That is the beauty of democracy, people are allowed to choose whoever they like, this is also applicable when people decide to switch interest on candidates, so the idea of allowing people to choose whoever they want despite who they previously wanted is the beauty of democracy. At this point the only thing you can do is to respect their opinion and who they decided to support, however you can galvanize support for whoever you want because at the end of the day, those in the majority will win.

If you do a proper investigation, you will find out that the people have been bribed privately, which made them shift their loyalty from someone who have aready gained their trust by the things he has done for them. You see, most humans make their decision on the benefit of the present. Just like the saying "the street has no remembrance". It sure happens in reality, whatever good the first has done will be forgotten because of the small bribe given to them by the new leader.

One primary thing about Politics is the fact that inorder for you to win that election, you have to sell yourself to the public more and better than the way your opponent does. We've seen where even sitting Governors and Presidents loses in the poll and it is mostly to someone that wasn't even a person the public will expect to win. So the aspect of people switching their desired candidacy is something that happens everyday in politics.

The inability of a person to politick and lobby for a position and the ability of another to walk, speak diligently shouldn't be mistaken for greed and love of money. If a person even publicly announces his interest to run for a political position, I think it will always be an advantage most especially if that person did so earlier. This will even give him time to meet and consult with people, familiarize and grow a working relationship with stakeholders before even the pressure of elections start drawing near. It will be a disgrace for someone to publicly announce their political interest to the public and still perform poorly at the poll because it likely means that they didn't work towards what they wanted to achieve for as we know, according to Laswell "Politics is who gets what, when and how."

In politics, it is all a hustle for power and any methods you apply is fair just as it is said in love and war.

Going for a political position is not something that we have to make private, because we have to belong to a particular political party and the most be able to recognize us on our intention for joining and contesting, we have to have a defined goal and passion for the people and also work towards what we can give to them than what they stand to offer us, because this is a human affairs political ambition and we must be able to have the various support needed from each sectors before emerging as the people's choice for such position we are aspiring.

Political office is obviously not a private office, it’s more or less a public office you’re probably going to occupy to serve the public so you don’t keep such ambition secret to yourself because the general public will be the one to elect or vote you in and there’s no way you can be voted in by the public if they don’t know about your political ambition to run for any of the office. I can only talk of the advantages of publicly announcing a political office even though i know that whatsoever that have an advantage also have a disadvantage. But in this case i think the advantage is more than the disadvantage because if you publicly make known your and announce your ambition to run for a political office you especially if you started off early enough you stand a more higher chance to reach out to a good number of voters or audience and you might be just a big step ahead of your opponent who chose to remain silent. Some times the most popular candidates are regarded as the peoples choice in and election. So if you don’t make it public how will people get to hear or know about you and how can you become popular among your fellow contestants.

The advantage of publicly declaring of political ambition to run for a position is that it'd lay you an informal foundation structure where the people becomes aware that you're in the race.
So when the formal campaign starts, it becomes easier to officially connect with the masses in gaining their supports ahead of the election while building your political wings.
The disadvantage could be that you're too quick to blow out your intention which could be given a room of your opponents to attack and distablizes your strategies at your unexpected.
Based on the fact that time factor is also part of the strategies for structuring.
