Why you shouldn’t rely too much on AI in betting

AI responds based on the data it receives, so the results are guaranteed to be consistent. AI doesn't have confidence, like a feeling of trust. It speaks based on data to make predictions. However, in practice, it's different. Gambling involves unpredictable luck and chance in the game itself. Therefore, correct and incorrect predictions can't be punished because AI only responds based on the data it has.

And relying on AI isn't a good decision, in my opinion. It will create a very dangerous dependency on trust. In the long run, our expertise will accumulate in judging a match.

Some people bet on almost all leagues especially for those gamblers that love parlay. They even go far touching second or third division of so many leagues. There is no way they can watch all this matches so they need to make research about each team to make correct predictions.

It can really be exhausting to do such big research, especially when you are not just predicting matches from one league, but this is something that we must do before we get enough games to make up our long parlay. If only we could stick with betting only on the games which we are familiar with and always follow up by watching predictions, it would be way easier and less stressful for us.

Last night, I bet on the match between Alexandra Eala and Sorana Cîrstea. Cîrstea was the favorite, Eala was the underdog. I asked AI for a prediction and, as expected, it picked Cîrstea because of ranking and experience.

But I didn’t agree.

I watched Eala’s previous game where she beat a Top 10 player, and she looked confident. So I trusted my own analysis and bet on Eala with high odds (around 5). No screenshot, but the bet won.

This made me realize something.

AI usually thinks like the public. It follows stats, rankings, and odds. Same logic as most casual bettors. It doesn’t really watch games, it doesn’t see momentum or confidence.

Anyone else experienced this?

Well, this is a very good example of what I've always talked about when it comes to betting and using Ai for analytics and opinion on who to bet on, I've always pointed to the fact that sports is a very dynamic game and Ai as a machine programmed to work with past stats of a team won't be able to spot or identify when a teams pattern changed, this is why betting on teams suggested by Ai is a brutal mistake on its own..

A team can go from series of losses to winning their first time, that first game won could make them win their second and third but it take a while before Ai catches up to understand that the playing pattern of what team have changed and now they are winning instead of losing.
If it was possible for Ai to accurately predict all matches or games, casinos would have all gone bankrupt to be honest.

AI can only be reliable when it comes to things that create fixed outcomes, but since gambling has always been unpredictable and uncertain, AI cannot play part on it. Simply put, AI cannot be well functional when gambling is the subject.

This is also good to say that AI is never good in guessing, which in gambling we often have guesses and predictions that are done through valid studies and good analysis.

No, because I have never asked an Artificial Intelligence for it's opinion on betting markets...

Though, I have asked about it's opinion on the state of the crypto market and the market in the United States, mostly the future prices of Bitcoin and some stocks which I am interested in.

I have reached the same conclusion: the AI does cold and very rigid analysis on the facts, and tends to be very conservative on the possible outcomes. It is not an useful tool for people who are very deep into sports or politics. In the end, one as a human being ends up having better understanding of those situations.

That was btw, but sure if you use AI to get your predictions directly, then be ready to face whatever loss incurred after..

AI is only good at getting the info you need for your predictions faster, it can be wrong at the same time . Other than that, it will just dump any existing predictions or give you any predictions based on stats. Yet, you can manipulate it somehow to suggest a new prediction, make it accept a specific outcome that  you want, which will go against its initial prediction.

AI is only able to identify who has more winning chances and who has the lesser. It just identifies the favorite and the underdog. However, it's worthless, because that is exactly what bookies already do when stipulating the odds for each matches... I believe AIs right now are just a more developed and smarter Google searcher tool machine. It's great helping us finding information in real time, but it doesn't help very much predicting future events and outcomes.

To be honest I think people sometimes give AI more credit than it deserves at the end of day it mainly studies past data and point out who has a higher chance of winning and who does not basically identify the favorite and underdog but that is pretty much what bookmarkers already do when they set other odds.

Right now AI feels more like a very smart and fast research tool it is great at gathering information analyzing patterns and give insight based on statistics but when it comes to predicting the future especially in something as unpredictable as sports it is still far from perfect.

When AI looked at info such as rankings, you could see her actual speed after she just beat world No. 8 Jasmine Paolini who was champion in past. Part that her confidence played as well as huge support of local Filipino fans and making match kind of home game was also rightly seen by you and something that AI could not measure.
By placing bet on Eala at such high payouts of 5.00, you had found market hole where player was too slow to keep up with young player who is now on next level of greatness. And I never experienced anything like this because I don't use AI betting.

what do you expect by the way, or have you forgotten that AI has no special skills? AI is just a machine with a random code program that works by human command, and this involve making analysis base internet statistic. AI is just like an advance or digital dictionary that gives you answer to what you seek base on what the master has installed in it, and you dont expect it to reason like you because you are far more than it, in fact you are like a God to AI because it has no personal opinion or decision but act according to the high numbers of the masses or population who agreed on one thing.

At least you have learned from it and I strongly believe that nothing else would make you come close to AI anymore because you have seen it yourself that AI is not made for gambling. Honestly, some gamblers are really funny actually because I don't see any reason why someone would purposely hope on becoming rich quick through AI for something that you have already known that the casino would never in any way allow that to happen in the game. AI is just an ordinary tool which has nothing to do with gambling but still most gamblers want to use it to smart the gambling sites.

I already tried it in basketball matches, I just tested it with a few games, so far, yes, the others are correct. AI based on documents or history/stats, just like previous matches that happened to the teams/players.
During that time I tried, I think it gave me 3-2 of winning chance, not bad, 3 wins, 2 losses. So for me, it's still not guaranteed 100%, there's still luck involved.

It’ll only take someone with a deeper understanding of the games, the players and other factors to tell when the stats and odds are pointing towards the wrong direction and when they are pointing towards the right direction, and this isn’t a quality that AI has.

AI can be a good guide for beginners since it provides precise data and stats, but it can never beat the mind of an experienced gambler once and for all.

Some say they use AI to get information and data about the game choice they want to make; it saves them the stress of going from one data source to the other, but this is for those who don't watch and follow up on games because if you are old to the game and a lover of the sport event you should be able to have some data more than what the AI has, and for newbies who are new to gambling, if they don't know exactly the right question to ask, they could also get a misleading answer. It's better to learn a little from someone who knows how before expanding.

The only advantage they have is that they can analyzed those data very fast as compare to us, but in the end, it is still not an assurance or a guarantee that we are going to win even if we used them.

And stats will just like that, I remember in NBA wherein Houston was like having a lot of statistician on their side to analyze the game itself. But it was not enough for them to even go to the finals despite what the numbers are telling them. This could be the same with AI, despite all the information they have, there could still be something that they might be missing that's why their prediction was a failure.

I don't rely on AI to analysis or bet but use my analysis to predict and place a bet. I don't know how to use AI for that thing so I prefer to analyze and find the info.

Perhaps the AI technology still not in the good perform that can predict better so we can't rely on that. But I notice this from what my friends saying and they do not using AI to predicting or analyzing because they believes their skills.

I have not used AI before for betting but I definitely know that AI will give prediction based on stat, but if not based on stats, the AI will still state how it arrived at the conclusion. The reason the AI will state should let the gamblers know that they are only deceiving themselves if they have plans to be making money from gambling.

This is true, but there is nothing that changed than more people to make predictions and lose. But it is good to know that I cannot thank AI for giving me a good bet, I prefer to make the analysis myself but winning is not also guaranteed.

AI is just a "filter" that selects the most statistically likely answers. He can't think. That is, to compare and evaluate the potential, as you did. So using AI for betting is really not the best idea.

Yann LeCun generally considers the transformer architecture, on which all LLMs are based, to be a dead-end development path. But many, on the contrary, defend this path, for example, with the help of philosophical casuistry of something like this essence: if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it is a duck. Obviously it's was going to make a prediction based on the availability of data, if the stats say the chances are more in a particular persons favour then AI will tell you that the person is in a higher chance of winning, it doesn't make decisions based on emotion or instincts, it's a cold calculator that makes it's decision by analysing available statistics of both parties involved.
