Since the beginning of my journey on this forum I've never received a bad or scammy email from any old members on here, they are all from newbies or jr members.

Fortunately for me I don't believe people easily maybe this is a plus as to why I don't fall for such people, but I really don't believe that old members will want to scam using their old account.

They are the one that knows better that if anything implicates them they will receive red tag, and this will ruin their forum reputation that they have build in the past years.

I am not saying that old members can't scam, the truth is they will never risk their accounts doing so, they will rather create a new one and use it to scam.

Most of this old members that are messaging newbies in other to scam them has already been given negative feedback by DT members in this forum, so when you see a PM from old forum members
being reputable here doesn't mean you have integrity. Everyone should beware!

If those they say they are reputable members in this forum don’t have integrity what makes them reputable member?
I hope you don't fall for that. Their Bitcointalk profile makes them reputable, but there's life beyond that.

If anyone couldn't bring a business proposal to well-known members and also couldn't display it publicly, but silently PMing unsuspecting newbies, my brother, think twice.

It doesn't matter if an old forum participant or a newcomer wrote to you, if the proposal concerns a financial issue, you should simply ignore this message. If this is a really good offer, then it will usually be publicly posted on the forum, rather than being sent out via private messages to unknown forum participants.

That's the simplest way to avoid anything that would later lead to regrets, I mean if it's actually a genuine business then for sure the business owner would want more exposure and post it public but once it's shady with huge offers that looks unreal then that's when they get private and starts targeting users who let their greed get ahead of them.

Bro I can’t fall for that, yeah you are absolutely right their Bitcointalk profile makes them reputable, and this days it looks like it’s very easy to build reputation in this forum and get green trust, I don’t really see that as anything if you can’t bring any business you want to have or do with me open them forget about it, you can PM me and tell me about a business I will make huge amount of money. I usually don’t believe and I may even bring you out to the public if you do that to me so other people would be very careful about you. I know they are doing it to Newbies in this forum, and I will encourage newbies to bring them out to the public.

I don't see anything new or old here. Rather, I emphasize the issue of familiar and unfamiliar. If you are a new or an old person, there is no problem, refrain from talking to people you don't know. It is wiser to ignore strangers completely than to talk cautiously to strangers. When I receive a message from someone, the first thing I try to know is their identity, if they are a familiar person, I talk to them, if they are a stranger, I ignore them. In the case of forum members, I monitor their accounts carefully. Are they regular or irregular in the forum, the tags on their profile and their activity on the forum.

Being vigilant is very important as it helps to reduce the level of risks one takes at every giving time. Over trust can make someone to loss his or information to people who are not supposed to have it, many times we think that the people we see that are ahead of us have our interest at heart, so this makes us to believe b whatever they tell us to do without even looking back in doubt or disbelieve or trying to find out if all they have told us are true or false.
All this is not only for the newbies but also for the long time members, because we might think it is only the newbies that can be defrauded on this forum, but if you as an old member loss guard there are possibility that you can also be a victim.

Staying alert truly makes a difference no matter how long one have been around, it's easy to get comfortable and assumed a certain persons or update can be trusted especially when they seem experience or ahead of you but trust without verification can leads one to a bad reputation.
I like that you gave out it’s not just about beginners anyone can slip if they let their guard down. A quick double-check, asking questions, or doing a bit of research before acting can save a lot of trouble. In the end, it’s better to be careful than to learn the the hard way

I saw a thread some weeks ago where someone was complaining, that he received a message about investment from someone in this forum.
Most of this old members that are messaging newbies in other to scam them has already been given negative feedback by DT members in this forum, so when you see a PM from old forum members, what you should do is to check their feedback and from there feedback you will know the kind of person they are.
But I will advise, regardless of their feedback tell them to make it public or forget about it.

And for the DT members if you are giving trust to someone, make sure the member is trustworthy because if they are involved in scamming newbies here, and the newbie says he believed the member was trustworthy because of the trust you gave the member, you too will be held accountable to some extent.

You are really conveying a good message here. And I really appreciate that and your message attention for the newbie members' best safety from those who have gotten a negative tag from multiple or single members of the forum. In some cases, many newbies are not pro of forum, and they don't even understand what trust is about and how they can check it, but very few understand it in their beginning days. This is why it is a great message that if one doesn't know about the trust system and he/she is getting such a kind of PM, then he/she should ask that person to bring this massage in the public for future safety purposes.

And if the sender is not responding to that request, then the receiver should not step ahead with any single move. I remember that one person was asking me for a laon of little amount in PM some months ago, but he/she did not publicize that request on the forum publicly, so that is why I did not reacted on his/her loan request for my own safety.

Yes, don't trust anyone regardless of their positive feedback; especially if they approach you FIRST for any investment deal. What you think is a reputable account with green tags may also be a bought account. So, it's good to ignore whatever messages that come through DM.

Incidentally, trust isn't moderated here and I've seen cases where green tags were given not because of any financial dealings and red trust were given for stuff not related to financial misgivings. So, green trust shouldn't stand as a yardstick for honesty. Again, newbies should be alert by themselves and not count on anyone to screen anyone for them. They should know that there's no baby sitting here.

Unless it is important don't just engage, not every deal is worth getting involved in. A lot of new members might fall for things like this because of how desperate they might be to make money. Another point is, even if you consider to partner with anyone or get involved in a business an old member is suggesting make sure you do your own research about it instead of taking their word as the final. Remember that the forum is a trusted platform but whatever you allow on your PM's is your decision and your responsibility,.plus, doing business with strangers is risky.

As for me, I would even advise that newbies should first stay away from any kind of business and focus on learning, unless what brought them to the forum is strictly business related. If a newbie is here in the forum to learn about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency so that they can have better investments later, they should just focus on learning. So, if they are messaged by anyone, as long as the message is not about forum discussions, they should ignore it. And if the message looks suspicious, they should try to report the member who sent it.Because it is very possible that some old accounts are no longer handled by their original owners, and those handling them at a particular time may have another agenda. It is also possible that some old members are no longer alive, or may have sold their accounts. If those accounts were never used to scam before, they may not have any tag, unless it is noticed that the account has changed hands and then gets tagged. However, when newbies learn and grow in this forum, it will be much harder for them to be scammed by other members, because they will know who is worthy of trust.

I will ignore it. I do not know him, and I do not feel that he is honest, especially in a global forum where he could be a scammer. Because I understand that users here could have accounts that are just stolen accounts obtained by buying. Maybe he is not offering a business, but he asks for a sum of money and to be sent to BEP20. The reason is that he wants to borrow. Even though it seems to be the same country as me, I do not want to risk losing. Maybe this has been going on for a long time, in 2025, but it seems it can make you understand. If I lend it to him, will he return it to me?

The users asked in the form of lending since it happened in PM and not something he came public to ask; that should be an action I only expect from someone who has a little connection to you. Either you have communicated in the past, or if not for me, it's better to ignore it unless there is a solid reason h/she can pay back. If not, as you ignored it, it is good.
In my local, I have had dealings with two members on different occasions, sometimes last year, where they asked for such a loan amount, which was small, and due to their rank and how active they are on the forum, there is more at risk for them here, so I had nothing to worry about, but I assume yours is a different case.

Most newbies don't know how the forum works. I know it's important to read the threads that explain the rules, the importance of the trust system, and other relevant information to have a more pleasant experience here. I believe that, because they don't know the forum, they might not know where to find such information.

There's an interesting discussion about sending a welcome message to newbies, and I believe including some guidance on this issue could help. It's worth reading the thread; there are both favorable and unfavorable opinions, but it's an idea I consider valid.

If you feel there is little or no chance of getting your money back and there is no proper proof or trusted connection with the person, then it is better to ignore it. If you do not want to take the risk of losing, then you should not give money to anyone except a known person and an active person on the forum. I have shared my opinion and if you still feel comfortable dealing with that unknown person, you can go ahead but personally, I would not take that risk.

It's not that they don't know how the forum works, they all belong to a local boards and they're topics for beginners, they know the rules and regulations of the forum but some are too quick to money and when any senior members dm them they rubbish to reply and at the end they will be scam, newbies doesn't need to talk with any members in the dm, anything their want they can have it in thread and get their questions answered.

Newbie should be focused on how to develop themselves rather them replying any DM in their inbox, if they what to do business the show open thread on that particular business and ask question, senior members should let newbies grow dm them is wrong and should be discouraged except you want to correct their posting style.

Someone doesn't need to be an old member of the forum to know how to relate with strangers who come to them with unsolicited offers. These newbies interact with people in their daily lives, both on social media and physically. When people bring certain offers to them that they aren't comfortable with, they simply decline. Offers that require them to send sensitive information, send money to an unknown person, or offers their instincts do not accept, they simply decline.

This forum is in no way different. There is no reason for a newbie to believe a total stranger who slides into their DM for transactions or any offer at all without trying to make the stranger prove they are genuine. There are two options: either you simply decline the offer, or you make the stranger bring the offer to the public so you can get your confirmations right. This is common sense; we don't need to read books or conduct research to know how to handle unsolicited offers.

Thank you for raising this OP.
Be careful of PMs regardless of newbie or oldie status.
If unsure, check the profile of the send, that would give you a feel of the type of personality behind the account.
If still unsure, ignore the user. This is not just adviced on the forum online, on every internet platform, you must take note of this and keep yourself safe.
As for DT members, you have said it all but it might now always be the case because humans are not perfect and can make incorrect judgement calls.

Even if they don't know how the forum works they should not trust any people online regardless the rank of the account  they handle. Much better to stay vigilant towards those unsolicited message they receive from random people only.

If someone offering them something which looks suspicious, better ignore it and asked the feedback on the community. They are already in this forum so for sure that they can read lots of legitimate insights towards those offers they receive.

I believe that, because they don't know the forum, they might not know where to find such information.
It's their matter like if they are careful, they will find information for what they consider as likely important with their accounts and money. If they are careless, don't care about these things, even if you give them only one topic for reading, they will ignore it.

It's like if they want, they will find their ways while if they don't want, no matter help you give them proactively, they consider it as nothing and useless.

Even if they don't know how the forum works they should not trust any people online regardless the rank of the account  they handle. Much better to stay vigilant towards those unsolicited message they receive from random people only.

If they are careful people, they don't automatically trust any stranger even with high rank accounts. I agree that accounts with green trust or many green trust can have more chance of scam success if scammers somehow own these accounts. Fortunately chance for scammers own such high trusted accounts is very small.
