What is your impression about female gamblers?

Before I had the mindset that gambling is not for women, I think many people had such mindset but over time,  such mindset have changed tremendously. Now I see female gamblers as strong people, people who are hardened and can endure tough situations.  However, i wouldn't want my wife to be a gambler because I dont have the confidence that she will be able to control her gambling to avoid sliding into addiction which is know will impact negatively on the family. Hence, I would prefer one of the partner gamble and mot both.

COVID-19 changed many things about the society. The lockdowns gave rise to the establishment and use of more online casinos. The privacy that online casinos give women gives women the chance to gamble without societal restrictions.  

I have come across some female gamblers and they are not different from the males. Some of them have gained good skills and experience. I wouldn't want my spouse to gamble because one person should be able to monitor the other. My spouse always calls me to order when I begin to gamble more than I should. Most of the female gamblers I have met are single.

Well, nothing special comes to my mind because gambling isn't supposed to be gender based, same way men can gamble it should also be the same for women without getting them stereotyped in any way. Generally, gambling is seen as a bad thing and everyone sees those who gamble as irresponsible and that doesn't speak good about the individual so while gambling it should be done with in the confines of one's privacy not something to be publicise so for a woman to be gambling it is also seen as a taboo and they term the woman as a reckless person who is not responsible, I know of a woman whose husband is late and she plays lotto on daily basis so she can carter for the children and as luck may shine on her she wins sequelly and has been helping herself with it.


As a gambler myself I don't have any bad impression over any female gambler because they are also looking for their means of survival so why will I now have a negative impression about them?,  same way we have male gambling addicts so we have female addicts so I see everyone whether male or female into gambling as same and they must survive so they are free to gamble as males do.

I think that it is normal and I don't judge anything or anyone regarding their gender. In fact there is a woman which I follow on Youtube called Lady Luck which is an influencer in gambling I would say. She is very emotional in her play something we men I don't think we have it when gambling and also her behavior is typical of a woman as one time with her winnings she directly bought a gold Ralph Lauren Polo purse which again as I said resembles typical behavior of women mentality. That is the only difference as I think for addiction when it comes to it, addiction does not know anyone, it involves every gender.

Maybe in some part of the world, in my country it doesn't matter because everyone is struggling to survive and there is no time for anyone to gossip around, once upon things aren't like this but everything has changed.

There is no more shame, today females will come out in the public to gamble and no one will question them, everyone is feeling the heat of hardship in the country, it's a survival of the fittest.

The difference is it's a bit harder to see a irresponsible female gambler that have lost fortune to gambling, it is mostly the men, we all know how emotional women are, I believe this is why they can't stand as a irresponsible gambler for long.

I don't have that general impression, I think differently when it comes to this because gambling isn't supposed to be gender based. They say that females have a high chance of getting addicted to gambling due to lack of emotional control but there are men also that lacks emotional control a well. This has nothing to do with gender, it's just about the individuals personal discipline.

Gambling is widely seen as the men's game, this view has remained like that until recently that few females started gambling. Not that anyone will stop them from gambling, but the women on their own concludes that gambling is not for them. They see gambling as wasting of money but men see gambling differently. So it's difficult to see female addicted gamblers when small a fraction of the female population are only gambling. 8 out of 10 men are into gambling, while it's possible that 10 out 10 women don't gamble, so the statistics alone makes it nearly impossible to see a female addicted gamblers.

I don’t see any problem regarding a female gambler. I have female friends that do gamble online. Gambling is very popular in my country so a female gambler is not peculiar.

I don’t encounter an addict female gambler mainly because most of them quit immediately when they suffer losses. And I believe they are better on financial management when it comes to gambling because their risk appetite is not aggressive.

Luck or random factor does not divide gamblers into men and women. They both have similar playstyle. I dont believe when people say men are more aggressive players, but women have more rational approach. I dont think there is a huge difference in number of women and men gamblers. Whenever I visit casino, I see plenty of both sex there. I remember someone said that men and women prefer different games, but that is obvious. We all have different taste for preferred games.

I don't think there is a distinction between men and women in gambling.

To give you an example, just try to go into your favorite land base casinos and you will see that there could be a equal number of women playing in a baccarat table or playing slot games. So for me not much of a difference between the two As for my impression? It's just the same when I see a regular gambler. We have the same fascination so what gives? It's not like it's being frown upon by the society right now.

I think that two things have traditionally made it less common to see women gambling - first is the wage disparity that has existed in many countries and still exists in others. This meant that they had less "spare" cash than men to spend on leisure pursuits like betting, that is changing but slowly. Secondly women will often be the main carer for children and they should always come first when it comes to budgeting because betting can often be seen as a frivolous way to spend money, you should try to only do it when you're in a responsible financial situation.

There is nothing special to see but when I hear something like this for the first time it is a little surprising. I was a victim of this situation a few days ago. My brother is addicted to gambling and he explained to his wife about gambling and taught her how to gamble. My brother's wife is a very good friend of mine and she is a very good girl. But even though we, my brother, taught her all this, she became addicted and she sold her mobile phone to gamble and lost all the money. It seems to me that a girl becomes addicted much faster than a boy and when they become addicted, they become more aggressive than a boy.

There could be a number of reasons for this gamblers maybe they are trying to have fun, meet people, or they are addicted? or maybe they are trying to make a living, as long as they are not trying to steal to anyone or not being addicted so much that they do , things just to gamble or spend their families fortune for gambling they are okay, the only problem is if they do then, they don't look good on them, more especially in our country they are more of stay at home, or doing business etc., to help the family or to have a good future.

Op your perception on how many society See's female gambler is a normal thing which mostly of us growing in the third world countries due experience, the results of this is perceived by the culture that restricted women in many activities mostly African culture that don't allow women in some things. Secondly religion perception also influence the view generally to gambler most time consider gambler irresponsible people. In my opinion, women are generally more emotional by nature, which can sometimes make their bets less calculated and more impulsive. Because of that, they might be less successful in terms of winnings, although there are always exceptions. Gambling addiction can develop when a person has too much free time, regardless of whether it’s a man or a woman. If a woman has meaningful things to do, and I don’t mean only work, because no one wants to just work all the time, but also hobbies and a supportive social circle, and if these needs are fulfilled, then it’s unlikely that gambling will turn into an addiction.Speaking about myself, I’m a woman and I can play gambling games without having any problems with them. At the same time, I have a close person with very serious gambling issues, and in that case, it’s clearly not about gender, but about personal responsibility and mindset. My partner is completely calm about my gaming, it doesn’t bother him at all. Sometimes he just laughs when he sees an open betting site on my phone and makes a joke about it.

It's prejudice and I'm one of those affected by that. I grew up knowing that the society I came from frowned at gambling, and to make it worse; female gamblers. It wasn't the society's condemnation alone that was the case, few female gamblers I saw then didn't look responsible too. They indirectly authenticated that perception by the society because they looked like gagsters.

It's the same way my society frowns at weed smokers and sees them as irresponsible people. Even till date, I see weed smokers from that lens. However, my stance on female gamblers has taken a subtle reassessment now from experiences gained over the years.

Again, we've to acknowledge that gambling isn't seen as a female terrain. It's a male dominated terrain. So, any female dabbling into it is seen as strong hearted and as someone who can do anything illegal. Women in men profession are perceived as strong while men in women profession are judged as weak. That's the society for you.

Nope, I don't see that in them. It's just that they gamble less and risk less than their male counterparts. They're more fearful.

I would not make a distinction between males and females or based on age, at least mentioning "addiction". In any case it's always better to seek medical help.
This just based on medical evidence that want to see this issue as a disease and not a generic life issue.

I have not encountered any female gambling addict yet, but I did play with a female before on a poker table. Actually, the game became more fun when the lady sat. Every man was energized because it was something rare that happened to us.

I think only those who believe in old school traditions are the ones who are making bad assumptions about ladies. I have seen many old women play cards on the street, including my wife's mother, who plays it every day as a pastime because she lives in the province where there's not much to do. Most of the time, three women are sitting and playing cards. It's very rare to see a man play cards because they are all at work. Yeah, it's the opposite of what others believe.
