For sure I keep gambling budgets as I do not gamble randomly because it would make me spend without knowing where my money is going into. So as a gambler when you allocate specific funds to gamble it would make you take good record of how much you are spending while gambling and it would help you control your loses. For instance when you allocate 100$ for this week whenever the money is exhausted it would enable to hold break till you get refilled back. With this you would know how much you are spending and how much that is going into gambling, the best is allocate either 1-5 % of your monthly or weekly income to gamble.
That's a disciplined way to budget in gambling if not doing like this then they might exceed the limit that has been set, disciplined gamblers they will manage the bankroll as well as possible, $10 / week or $50 / month the important thing is not to exceed the limit set by you, for me do not want to exceed $20 a week because it is too heavy so now bet every week just $5.

Everything is all about discipline..

There’s  nothing like your gambling limit were exceeded if you have some discipline but yeah the truth is most gamblers find it difficult.
You can just deposit a specific amount you will be needing for a gambling session/ period. Once it’s used up, you should know you’re done for that day / week/ month  but still ,you need some discipline to avoid depositing more because you can easily deposit another funds on most  casino platforms.
If they find it difficult to adhere to the rules, then it is not clear what their purpose is to gamble, for fun or just to spend their money and without restrictions.
Though budget restrictions will make gambling healthier, more disciplined, so as not to lead to psychological disorders when all the money has been exhausted due to gambling.

Some of the dark stories I have heard about indiscipline I have heard from my own friend, he always bets without seeing how much will be spent,
until in the end he keeps losing and has no money left at all.  Regret in the end when everything is gone, that's what will happen when you are not disciplined.

I have personally noticed one thing. Those who gamble just for fun also get into trouble at sometime just because they don't keep track of their money. Those of us who invest or trade or even try to keep separate funds for daily living expenses. But there are many who don't feel the need to keep separate funds for gambling. I didn't keep funds at first. Later I noticed that my gambling limits were being exceeded because of not keeping funds separate. Even though I gamble for fun, I try to keep separate funds.

I want to know from your real experience, do you keep a separate gambling budget? Or do you manage everything together?
It is a must that we should separate the budget that we spend for gambling. The bankroll that we have should be a different thing from the usual budget that we do.

Because if you're not going to separate it from the usual funds that you have, you'll have a problem in doing it.

The possibility of you mixing it with the daily funds is big and when you become emotional while separating, it is likely that you'll still add up when you lose even if it's out of your budget.

I separate gambling budget just because I don't want to hassle myself or cram when it comes I want to gamble. I want to organize it as possible considering I don't want to confuse if I gambled the thing for daily expenses or the budget for gambling. I think those who don't need to keep a separate fund are those who got a lot in their wallets that they don't have to do it but it's their own way, they probably are whales. It's wise to just keep a separate one tbh.

I used to think gambling “for fun” didn’t really need structure. That’s how limits slowly get pushed. What helped me wasn’t lowering bets, it was separating funds completely. Once gambling money mixes with daily expenses, decisions get emotional fast. Now I keep it simple: fixed bankroll, clear loss limit, no topping up from other funds and withdraw part of profits instead of letting everything ride. For me it’s not about restricting myself, it’s about staying in control.

Well naturally something that is meant for fun should not be taken too seriously to the extent of budget, but I do get your point tho, gambling is done with Money so budgeting will be advisable. But the money should be casually kept aside it should not be mandatory to gamble with it, I think it should be tagged something else instead of gambling, it should be tagged as entertainment or something. But what is important is that it should not be taken too seriously, because the after effect might be dangerous

This is a repeated topic on this board and you will still get the same answers that was given in the previous similar topics.

Same thing most users accuses the gambling board of spamming over repeatative of same discussions overtimes, but what can we participants do? It's either such users don't have retentive memories to recall such discussion had been treated already or they're just learning it new lessons so they choose to share but an active user and of this gambling section is ought to be familiar with this very topic. LMAO

Quote
I do set aside money for my gambling budget whenever, I get paid so that I don't get carried away by my emotions and gamble beyond my gambling budget because it's gon affect my way of living. Setting a gambling budget combs irresponsible gambling because it enable you to stop the game at the right time.

A gambling budget will help to keep you gamble healthier, no regrets of exceeding your limits and with disciplinary measures your bank roll's will preserve your budgets as much as you planned it.

I don't really set a budget because I don't play very seriously or regularly. I just set a limit in my head, which is basically a boundary. I don't want to spend more than $40-50 a month, sometimes even less. Losing that much money doesn't bother me I would be upset if I spent more. I've set the limit to amounts that won't upset me, and that gives me peace of mind.

The most profitable ways to gamble is to set limits on time and money spent(weekly or monthly). That way,you get to lose money without affecting your actual finances.Gambling budgeting is actually possible, and it's actually recommended for gamblers who are building a structure with their money and finances. It becomes ethical  and smart, when the boundaries you create between gambling and your money becomes meaningful to you.

I want to know from your real experience, do you keep a separate gambling budget? Or do you manage everything together?

When you're not a rich guy and the flow of money is not limited, there is no way but to budget everything, and more so in gambling, because if you cannot or fail to do that, you will be wiped out and will be deep in debt.

It's very tempting to allocate a big amount to gambling if you feel that your chances are good, but most of the time our feelings are deceiving; you have to think clearly rather than following your impulses.
When our impulses are the ones we follow, we lose our common sense and rationality, leading to substantial losses.

Whether you are gambling for fun or you are gambling to make a living, its best to set a betting limit and separate your funds based on its purposes. Because gambling in nature is addicting, you can't be confident that you can manage your funds well but when greed and high emotions start to control your mind, that's where irresponsible gambling takes place.

So if you can gamble only with your spare money and just leave the site when you have lose it all, that's good. At least you stick to your limits and your funds to pay your bills or for your allowance are already safe.

A couple of years ago, I learnt something called "Separation of Concerns". Although it was for a technical activity, I soon found that that concept extends to many other facets of life including gambling. There has to be separation of concern otherwise, it would be so easy to mess up one's finance. But anyone wgo actually does budgeting and accounts for all monies coming and going will already have a system in place to check for this.

My biggest question will always remain this: how do people even develop the interest to make a living off of gambling? They just keep arguing that the possibilities are slim, but it can happen with the right strategy, but I have actually never seen someone very successful at it. Imho, there's no strategy that guarantees at least 70% success rate.

'Separation of concern' works through a properly applied disciplinary course. This is something that a few gamblers can achieve

As a gambler that is logical you should always be wise enough to make plans in order to avoid making certain mistakes. creating a gambling budget is important for anyone that is actively involved in gambling. Having a gambling budget is a way to keep yourself limited in order not to gamble irresponsibly. Always learn to separate the money you are going to use for gambling from other things to avoid them getting mixed up. For those that are able to stick to maintaining a gambling budget they incur less losses compared to those that don't

I want to know from your real experience, do you keep a separate gambling budget? Or do you manage everything together?
Separated or not for as long as we're allotting budget for gambling and our needs, there should be no problem at it. What creates a problem is that when you budget for gambling and you lose it entirely, you are not following your own budget. And that makes you deposit even more that shall get your fund from the other usual budget for expenses that you have set. That's the problem with many gamblers, they say they are budgeting things and yet they're also using the money that isn't for gambling because they lose and think they can recover it easily.

I separate a funds for gambling and it's usually the excess in salary (in my day job) after setting aside our monthly budget. I don't gamble if the money that will be use is not an extra just to be certain I won't exceeds my limit. It's better to stay this way to not repeat the same mistakes that I experienced before. Many gamblers are not thinking wisely when it comes to the amount that they will going to risk because of their high expectation to win which is not right. If possible, refrain from playing if you don't know what you're getting into.

Yes, I always separate them and I do not think it should be different only because people gamble just for fun.
I pay my bills first, then I save some as an investment (you choise if for retirement, emergencies or future plans), and only then I spend the left in gambling, even if it is just for fun for me.

Let me ask you a question... do you spend more than should on bars? or movies, or restaurants or another other entertainment? You should not be spending, so why would you spend more than should on gambling? It is the same thing.

Some people prefer to spend a fixed percentage on gambling every month... this is great!!! But I believe it can be even better if, in addition to having a maximum spend limit on gambling, you also prioritize what I said above, because sometimes you might not even have 5% of your salary left for gambling.

It's better to create a separate allocation for your gambling budget because that way you can separate it from your other needs and you can also monitor whether the budget is too large for your financial capacity or not. If someone manages everything and doesn't separate their gambling budget, what happens is that they often spend money excessively --- money that should be used to pay for basic needs, instead ends up being used excessively on gambling, and in the end they have to sacrifice that they can't pay the rent just because they used all their money chasing losses.

I don't have a special budget for gambling, but I will separate the money if I have it for or want to gamble. Usually, I deposit it directly into the gambling platform. I don't separate it at all, because if I separate it, I will think that my gambling budget is always insufficient and I will always want to increase it, so it's better not to create a special wallet.

Those who gamble regularly and want to stay away from gambling addiction basically adopt strategies, so those who adopt strategies in gambling will definitely be able to stay away from people with addiction. Among the few strategies in gambling, money control is also a big strategy, a gambler divides his money into several parts, it is better to enter the game of gambling with a small family money. Because if a small amount of money is lost in gambling, the gambler will definitely realize that his money is gone and he will have to stop gambling, but if the gambler cannot control his money, he will continue to gamble until all his funds are gone. Therefore, it is very important to keep money under control, in this way it is possible to stay away from the goal of addiction.
