Reality is, we can't be certain when will death hit us. So if we are still in the process of accumulating bitcoin and all of a sudden death happens, I guess we can't do nothing about it but accept the reality.

However, as much as possible, we should be certain when would be the end goal of our investment so that we can benefit it the most while we are still kicking and alive. This is the reason why if there's an opportunity to sell and make vast profits, then do it because that's the right thing to do.

We don't hold until life is taken from us, but we only hold and eventually sell while we are still able and capable to sell.

Right now, it seems like it's more like an inheritance wealth I'm building because if I keep listening to don't sell, keep buying, I might end up not selling at all just putting money together for all the years, or maybe I will spend some during retirement! But for you once again, What's the very END?
Good investment plan, patience is all you need in your bitcoin journey.

If you plan doesn't require you sell now but continue to buy bitcoin even if the market to you isn't favourable then you must stick to it.
Does this have anything useful to do with the thread because what we are talking about here is the fact that there is no need to accumulating bitcoin when you are not going to spend it, what the end of your bitcoin accumulation will look like that's what we are talking about, stop just saying stuff because you want to say it.

I have been keeping 50% of my savings in Bitcoin since 2016, and 100% since 2020. I haven’t regretted it once. With Bitcoin, I know that no one can take my savings away from me. This leads me to a question: why should this ever end?

Or I could look at the end differently: it "ends" every time I need to spend my savings.
it’s incredibly helpful that we get to take something from our savings when we need it whether that is for emergency or just for personal use

when you have savings, you can purchase anything and that’s something not everyone can afford to do
If ending is the matter of discussion, that means we have to consider bitcoin ure money and spend it wen we need to spend it, maybe the reason why you accumulate bitcoin to live a fulfil in the very last days of our life without depending on any one.

Everyone of us have a bitcoin target or a goal that includes holding bitcoin in it, yes as long as you have been educated with bitcoin knowledge you will definitely create a goal for yourself to buy bitcoin and hold it but then there is the one question that nobody wants to talk about, what exactly is the end goal? when you die? will the holdings become inheritance for you since you're in the long term goal? what's your age and how long do you want to hold? when you hold this long will you still be available to see the value it becomes? what's the exact end?
What I believe about any investment plan is that the investor's age should be considered in the duration of investment plan, the younger the investors the longer the duration, the older the less long it should be but must be a timeframe that's for ROI to be made.

Quote
But then when is the end? is that when we die?
No. Not necessarily... The Investor has to decide "the when" for himself. But should make sure it's the right timing.

"Don't sell, keep buying" doesn't direct that you shouldn't take profit when you have reached the maturity of of investment based on your target, but that you shouldn't sell all of your bitcoin but leave a portion for reinvestment continually.

Bitcoin involves economics and self custody, holders have a large options of whether to trade, pass down private keys, or hold while they still breath. For long term holders who wouldn't wish to sell, the eligibility is there to give the assets to their offspring and teach them the need to trade the path of holding Bitcoin. Same experience goes to everyone else that hold or trade Bitcoin, the ball is always in their court to take any decisions they're willing to sustain.

But for you once again, What's the very END?
I likely don't have an end goal for Bitcoin, for now.
• I trade/invest, the profits are withdrawn into fiat and turned into real assets, such as buying land, houses, cars and others.

In my understanding Bitcoin is an internet network, of course the internet has advantages and disadvantages. I try to think logically, if access is stopped of course we can't do anything, point.
So, the goal is to use Bitcoin as best as possible while we can use it, don't wait until Bitcoin can no longer do anything.

Everyone has their own goals when they invest their money in bitcoin. Some plan to hold it for the long term, perhaps 10-20 years, and then sell it when they feel the time is right and enjoy the money, while others treat it as wealth that they will never sell. Everyone has different goals.

what's my intention or what do I want to achieve with all the bitcoin in the end?

It is actually your right to do whatever you want with the bitcoin you own. Just because people say it is better to hold and continue buying, that does not mean you cannot sell it. If you think the time is right, you can consider selling a small amount to take a profit. Don't feel confused just because of something like this. The important thing is that you continue to invest regularly and do not sell when you are at a loss.

The final goal of holding Bitcoin relies on individual intentions, and it raises questions that are important concerning purpose, legacy, and financial freedom. Some see Bitcoin as a long term storage of worth, and others see  it as a mead of securing future wealth or provide an inheritance. The major problem is that volatility of Bitcoin makes it difficult to predict when or if it can fulfill these goals in the way that is expected. The end may be retirement, transferring of wealth, or even only having financial security. Yet, as you pointed out, there is a deeper question–which is what truly the meaning of financial success when you can not completely experience it in your entire life?

I might not get it correctly of what end you mean but I know that we invests in Bitcoin with an utmost priority making profits which we can only be account for when it has in any way get to solve our financial needs.
We are left to invest according to our risk bearing and not to impress others such that is prone of holding forever just to live a hype profile of owning a huge amount of Bitcoin in the portfolio.

If we can not have a plan to spend it it, then it is useless and likely have a stance of not different from those who don't invest at all because by the time your assets even as a matter of investing in the long term that seems at no edge potential to be utilized either strategically of taking the profits in a regular and keep hold of a portfolio to weigh your finance over inflations when you know you still have a long way to go while life becomes what we should be skeptic about. Else, the end is always how useful your Bitcoin investment had been to you is all that matters.

Different individuals with different ways and perspectives of seeing bitcoin. Some might be seeing bitcoin as a way to make comfortable living after their retirement just as many users did mentioned while some will just be holding for just personal reasons maybe to earn profits and be financially stable and financially independent and many other things and even some are holdings for the moon market price. Let not be in shock that there are some holders that do not even know why they are holding or what they are holdings for because they just invested in it through promotions or whatever.
Perhaps I only invested in bitcoin to double my portfolio so I can be financially independent even if bitcoin wouldn’t give me the lifetime comfort I’m hoping for or lifetime profits I’m hoping for but at least for some years wouldn’t be bad and I know that just a little challenge for bitcoin.
One thing we should prioritize is having exit plans so we can secure our profits and enjoy our investment journey.

I totally respect your way of securing your profits and making positive usage of it by accumulating physical assets for future purposes and that very smart. That decision is absolutely a positive idea and good one at least you are seeing what bitcoin has done for you.

Just a suggestion though, it will be of a smart idea if you truly thought of having an exit plan though or have a round figure in Mind for bitcoin to hit and you can accumulate and secure so much profits because we know how the market shifts moves at times.

"Don't sell, keep buying" doesn't direct that you shouldn't take profit when you have reached the maturity of of investment based on your target, but that you shouldn't sell all of your bitcoin but leave a portion for reinvestment continually.
Everyone has their own target and should follow to it. If the market appears in a situation where it's comfortable for someone to sell off all their holdings. I won't hold anything against the person, It's their choice, and they can still keep part of the money gotten from the profit used it for reinvesting selling everything don't mean they won't invest again in bitcoin some people prefer to empty their wallet entirely before start from fresh again.

But then when is the end? is that when we die?

Right now, it seems like it's more like an inheritance wealth I'm building because if I keep listening to don't sell, keep buying, I might end up not selling at all just putting money together for all the years, or maybe I will spend some during retirement! But for you once again, What's the very END?

The very END depends on what you set for yourself. Not selling your bitcoin and just saving it as long as you want is not a general thing. Many people sell after every bull run when they hit their target, then target another bear market, take advantage of the bear market, then they accumulate as much as they can against the bull season again. It has now become a continuous process for them. Bitcoin is not bad if kept as an inheritance for your unborn children or even children with you now, I won’t call it a labour in vain as long as you didn’t live a very poor lifestyle when you were still alive. T

he end goal of every investment is to get to spend it, use it and feel very happy for the patience and achieving what you have aimed for long. Spend your bitcoin now if you are not keeping it as inheritance, or they’ll waste in your portfolio forever when you’re gone and no one has access to your wallet. As an investor, just be decisive of what you want and work towards it.

...when you die? will the holdings become inheritance for you since you're in the long term goal?
A dead person doesn't have any care for earthly things. Whatever investments we've on earth is only meaningful while we're still alive. Again, when people talk about inheritance; I tend to see it as a mindset thing for average Africans. I think those in advanced world primarily work or make money for themselves, and not for a heir somewhere. In Africa, we slave to acquire wealth/properties for heirs or next of kins who will in most cases squander it; enjoying wealth they never sweated for.

Quote
Right now, it seems like it's more like an inheritance wealth I'm building because if I keep listening to don't sell, keep buying, I might end up not selling at all just putting money together for all the years, or maybe I will spend some during retirement!
Don't be a slave to your money or investment. Take out a portion of it and spend when you've need for it. Don't saddle yourself unnecessarily with needless burdens.

Quote
But for you once again, What's the very END?
I don't like overthinking that. What's gonna be, is gonna be. After all, there are several wallets whose passkeys and private keys can't be recovered and BTC linked to them can't be assessed. Life goes on.

The question that you raised what's the end goal does not refer as to when or how, or who, but it clearly answers what is your goal or objective why you decide to buy and hold bitcoin. So its not matter of time, but its more on what is your final goal or end goal.

Personally, my end goal is to gain financial security and independence. And it will definitely be a long processing before it could be realized.

However, others may have different interpretations too, and its okay because we are seeing bitcoin investment in a different and quite broader way.

Don't sell keep buying is mostly for bear seasons, i do not want to believe anyone will want you to ask you to sell during a bear season knowing that you are going to be at loss selling at this time, when it is the bull, that is a time to sell and take profit after all the buying you have been doing. so you don't have to buy endlessly, there is a time to take profit that you should pay attention to and then take profit and use part of the money to reposition for a new opportunity to buy again, except you just want to HOLD for a very long time and use the money for a project.

What I'm talking about exactly is that buying is the only language most speaks about bitcoin but which has no definite ending just a loop of keep buying and then you hold untill you die, so what extent are you going to hold. personally I have come to the conclusion that bitcoin as holding is merely going to be a retirement plan and once the time for retirement comes I will end the holding, I mean liquidate to an extent so I can live life as much I as want.

Well, if you don't have a "backup plan" to save your Bitcoin before you die, it will be "lost" forever. It's not bad to spend your savings whenever you need to. But you should make sure to leave instructions on how to gain access to your BTC, in case you're gone. Only if you want your descendants to enjoy your hard-earned wealth.

For some people, it all "ends" once BTC reaches their desired price range. Like say, Bitcoin reaching a price of $1m. For others, it never ends as they've taken an "oath" to hold on forever (HODL). The choice is yours. At least we know Bitcoin will last for a very long time thanks to the way it was designed.

There are many people lost bitcoins by many reasons while the most common reason is failing to recover their wallets by lack of wallet backups and necessary information to access their wallets and bitcoins.

It's clear that lost bitcoins are donations to everyone as satoshi said but it is very painful for people who lost their coins. Hopefully people are able to learn from reported famous cases, and learn for better practice with their wallets, backups, recovery.

Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more.  Think of it as a donation to everyone.

If you successfully sold your bitcoins, that mean there are buyers who were ready to buy coins from you and they also believed that price will rise up more after that. Nobody want to buy anything just for loss later, and it's true with Bitcoin buyers too. They don't necessarily to HODL but they buy for selling higher and getting profit.

Most investors are not leaving market but saving dollar coins such as USDT in order to get ready for next big thing, good move to take considering fact that we are 512 days into this growth period. I believe that moving profits to support real world project is show of money smarts and not weak hands because it is more sensible to use Bitcoin as way to reach life goals than to hold it. Although some cases of lifetime holders are now getting money on loan apps in order to get cash without selling, you are right when you say that down market is to work hard to make wealth, and up market is moment to enjoy results.

Does warren buffet sold his stock just because he's old? no, right? if your purpose is to grow your capital and get financial freedom out of it. As long as bitcoin still have room to grow, there is nothing wrong in keeping your money in it.
Treat it like a pension fund, or even gold. Converting it to fiat isn't the end game at all the same way riches are diversifying to stocks and real estate. They want to retain value even if they're at old age.

I don't have an end goal in mind. I always convert a small portion of my income to bitcoin, but I've never really set any specific amount/quantity as a target, because I want to focus on trying to accumulate it consistently. I choose to hold bitcoin as a way to protect my money's worth. I consider it as a store of value, but I have no problem spending it if I ever need to.
