It looks like they're also trying to work out a way to resolve the issue reported here by user yohannc.  It's not exactly a fix, but a request for proof readers to verify the safety and security of translations.

I read the discussion, clearly there's a "receive" button in literally every wallet, the unfortunate person copies an address from the app's preferences (that shouldn't be there). Some people lose BTC for very, very silly reasons. The victim did the "hardest thing", it would have been much easier to just click the "receive" tab to get their addr...

As for the recent Electrum updates, most of the new updates are bug fixes, nothing new (like Taproot  Undecided ).

Well, to be fair, it was his novice buddy that sent him the address.  But still, you're point is valid.  How to skip the "receive" tab, go to preferences, and decide to copy an address from that screen?  Roll Eyes

As for the recent Electrum updates, most of the new updates are bug fixes, nothing new (like Taproot  Undecided ).

Tap root is a bigger deal, and some progress is being made.  Step by step.  Electrum is still the best wallet client by far.  Sparrow is close second but I just can't seem to warm up to it, and not even the alure of Taproot has been able to convert me.

Sweet, we can now do this with [CTRL +] and [CTRL -] while in the console tab. (Release Notes didn't specify how)
Those text looked so small in high resolution high-DPI displays.
For someone like me who's using that often, it's a neat QOL feature.

Yeah, I like using CLI and the console as well, and being that we GenXrs qualify as old farts these days, that's a pretty sweet feature.

I haven't had a chance to go through all the changes, which I like to do before I upgrade.  This is giving me motivation.

Gen Z here, Gentlemen  Cheesy  I use the Electrum Console very little, only to test new commands out of curiosity, but to access advanced features, such as converting the format of an xpriv, you need a certain level of knowledge.

Does the Bitcoin Core Console have something similar? I vaguely remember that yes, I just remembered, there's a magnifying glass + and - that allows we to increase and decrease the font size) I confess I've never been bothered by the default font size.

Yeah, there is.
Those aren't magnifying glass though, those are "A-" and "A+' buttons at the top-right-hand size of the console.

Electrum's version isn't as intuitive as that and a lot of people who need it wont even notice that it exist.

I don't think I even use the console anymore, it's always had buffering issues and lags when there is large scrollback. Which is very easy to reproduce by the way, just make it print the entire TX history object.

The ideal thing would be to make commonly-used console scripts into an Electrum plugin, but I don't think most people know how to do plugin development.

When needing to do something outside the GUI's capability, I almost always use CLI, and rarely resort to the console.  But I can only do that on my Linux machines.  I can't seem to get CLI commands to work on Windows, so I have to use the console.  I don't seem to have any lagging issues on my Windows desktop, but it's heavy on horsepower.  It'll print the whole TX history of well used wallet in a split second.

Personally I don't like the idea of using any sort of CLI with a live wallet, because of the possibility of typing something wrong.

But if it works, it works I guess.

Like I said, it would be much better the functionality to get a GUI version eventually.

May I ask what kind of functionality you're doing with the CLI if you don't mind sharing?

Very little.  Once in a while I like to export transactions for a single address, and I find it cleaner to do so in the terminal or console, then copy and paste into a spreadsheet.  I can reconfigure the json using a macro, then compare the TXs against another sheet to ensure confirmations.  Usually this is only handy when I have multiple payments coming into a single address for a contest I'm hosting.

I rarely interact with the private keys or create transactions using CLI.  I have played with it in the past to export and convert XPRV keys to experiment with converting bip39 wallets to Bitcoin Core descriptor wallets, but that was just for goofing off/edification, not any seeds I actually use.
