Reading this thread ( What have you achieved through gambling? ) inspired me to create this poll (in many posts, users indicate that they've gained almost nothing from their gambling hobby). Why? I was curious: how many users (at least within this section) actually gain anything at all at the casino? I'm not talking about the "entertainment" aspect, but rather the financial aspect.

By the time you read this thread, what is your status: a winner (in profit) or a loser (in deficit)?

Or, due to the approximate ratio of losses to wins, you've earned and lost approximately nothing. That is, at zero.

We can be quite certain that the voters who have chosen that they gamble for fun and do not count the money are certainly included with the voters who have deficits because of losses heheeheheh.

In any case, it will not be very shocking if all of the gamblers in this forum are on a deficit or will be on a deficit. We are only gambling for fun and we do not count the money, correct?

I am not sure, though because I don't count the money but I am certain to a level that I didn't lose much, which makes me to choose one from either last two options.

98% of the gamblers lose? That's vague number we don't really know who are all losing but even if they lose 98% of that time still that 2% win can manage those losses, this is why gambling is surviving for this long.

This category is separate for those who don't monitor or account for their losses. Simply put, they have no idea what's going on in their wallets.

If your thread is about winning or losing, why are there four answers in the poll? In my opinion, gambling whether for entertainment, the pursuit of winjing or whatever reason, the results is wins or losses. That's the only answer, especially considering the title of your thread.

I like that a majority of the people so far have indicated that they gamble for fun and not money. It shows a mature audience that understands the name of the game.

Until recently, I was definitely in favor of my entire gambling initiative over the years. I was sure of this due to the fact that I often won in slots, and I was very lucky. And I deduced these winnings and recorded them, seeing that there were more green values than red ones.
Well, recently I decided to play dice and slots for a large amount of money again, and in the end I lost everything because of my greed. I just increased the size of each subsequent bet and gradually thought that I would win back by the end of the evening, but it turned out that in the end I lost all the money cleanly.

Well looking at the pol you can judge by peoples selection. They are more of the second and 4th which are Deficit due to losses and I gamble for fun and don't count the money. This show that loses are more frequent than win. Otherwise most people would have recorded the amount of winning they had, but it is obvious that there are no much wins. And comparing the loses and the wining they see no reason to announce the win because it is almost no need since loses are more. Some people has never even won an amount that they  could comfortable record as wining. Let's say some Gambler has been wining $5 $10 and $20 as their highest win why there loses is more than $500 to $600 so how would you expect this kind person to comfortably claim they have won, knowing it's a big slap to their face.

I voted neutral because while I do not entirely gamble for fun I don't also always compare all of my winnings against my losses, it's more about what happens at the end of the day, if a lose then I could have lost that money through any other means, if I win then I get to have some extra cash to spend, I don't gamble very much and I also don't gamble with very much. I might have to start calculating how much loss I have compared to how much winning I have just to know where I stand.

How many times have I had to compare my losses and wins? In the end, after adding up all my money, I was left with a huge deficit. And not only that. I had accumulated a huge loan, which I paid off for almost seven years. It was difficult, since almost all my money went towards paying it off. This is the price I had to pay for my recklessness. Why didn't I stop in time? Gambling consumed me completely. I became deeply addicted. And what did it lead to? Only disappointment.

The truth is that I really do not gamble that much, but I think the few times that I gamble, I manage to secure more wins than losses, this is because whenever I begin to lose, I just stop gambling immediately, and I try to avoid chasing losses or being greedy cos I know this is exactly what causes gamblers to lose more on gambling so I try to gamble as safely as I can, avoid the traps that I’m aware of and try to increase my bankrolls, but if increasing my bankroll doesn’t work out, I don’t force it, I just withdraw myself.

I can be considered as a winner as I don't gamble. Not Losing is also a Form of Winning. I try to stay away from gambling as it's very Risky. A healthy and calculated risk is okay and even mandatory for success in life but the risk gambling offers is just way too much. It's a very high risk high reward game where most often people lose. I've mostly heard of people losing their life savings than winning so I try to stay away from it. Apart from that religion is also a factor in not gambling. And I'm happy I haven't gambled till now as DCA is a great method to build wealth slowly over time and involves risk too but in a healthy manner.

Edit: the poll is also a testament to the high risk involved and losses incurred by most of the people that gamble. i.e 44% are in deficit

I consider myself a winner. I finished 2025 with a profit of around 400 euros (that's a laughable figure), but I'm not a loser if we look at it that way.
The point is that my way of playing doesn't reflect the average player, I play often but little money and I hope to get wins by spending really little.
Furthermore, I use the money I manage to win (part of it) for continuity in the game, avoiding having to top up my account with the money I earn from my usual work.
So I consider myself a winner (poor but winner)

I'm not losing much because I have gained few times which is bigger than how much I have staked in total. This is because I don't get greedy with my stake, so I stake small and my potential is higher because of the numbers of the games and the odd. So overall, I don't have regret if I compare what I have lost and what I have won but I have lost more bets that I have won but because I don't bet/stake hugely, my gain covers the losses.

My withdrawal amount is more than my total deposit in gambling because I always make small bets due to which my profit was small. I calculated that these small profits of mine have been more than my deposit amount at some point. Due to which I have not lost any money in gambling till now. Although the amount is low but this is my satisfaction.

I voted neutral. According to my latest calculations, Im neither in profit nor in loss; my deposit has remained roughly the same for the last three months or so. Lately, I've lost the excitement and desire to hit the jackpot; it's more like playing on weekends when I have a little free time.Speaking of bets, there are fewer of them too.I only bet on matches that I can watch if I'm not interested, I skip them.

Since I don't track my gambling activities but I can do that from the amount I assign for my gambling budget weekly. If I also consider how much I have won, I can confidently tell you that I am at loss at this point. Though, that is not a problem because I know that any money I assign to gambling is gone since it's a consumable activity.

I believe gambling takes more from us that it gives.
