Sometimes, when I'm relaxing with my friends in the beer parlor, I bring out my phone to see if there's any match I can bet on. That doesn't mean that the beer will have any influence on my decision making. I feel more relaxed placing my bets when I'm a little bit intoxicated that's just the fun for me. However, I don't do it always.

I think that's the natural way of doing gambling, adding other activities helps relaxation and improves fun, staring at the colors of reels going up and down is kind of boring, the mix in activities could be dangerous when overly done, but it's very proper to gamble while having fun doing other things like drinking.

Drinking coffee, smoking, if you call it another/side job in gambling activities, I think it's normal and something common and often done by gamblers all over the world, except for you, maybe you don't smoke or don't drink coffee.

Personally, without coffee and cigarettes I feel empty, I can't carry out gambling activities, without that I feel stiff about my actions, but if there is coffee and cigarettes, it feels good and all the games I play run smoothly.

Honestly, I wouldn't gamble if the ones I mentioned weren't already available next to me and I'd play and do it once they were available.

Smoking and drinking becomes an activity? I don't think it needs a discussion here. People do smoke all the time while working in a garage or whatever things on their own and light up one when they feel tense or someting and the same way drinking too, so if people feel the tense and wanted to ease up then one or two is fine but getting wasted could get into a lot of trouble.

I can gamble and still do other things when playing some games that frees one of my hand and does not require me to make impulsive decision. Like playing aviator, I can set my target at 10x and use one hand to monitor that while the other hand is busy doing something else. This does not impact how I play. The only game I will not want to lose focus are games that requires total concentration which makes it difficult to combine it with something else. Although I love giving my gambling the maximum attention.

Side activity does not matter because we can gamble as we want, and also do other things as long as we are not going to be distracted by doing so. Gambling is full of fun, and we can't afford to do all that could complement our fun in it and make it full of a lot of excitement, along with other activities, while gambling.

Remember one of the supposed primary reason for gambling is entertainment, and when getting entertained sometimes people does love to get multiple activities going on at the same time in other for them to get as much fun as possible all at once.  If there are no accompaniments for some of them, they mostly will not enjoy gambling because for them, the fun is gotten the most when everthing is happening simultaneously, so it's like an enhancer some of them cannot do without but it is not advisable for you to join in with such if you are not into such because it can actually get addictive and you may loose control of it.

Gambling while doing other activities can be distracting but if you know how to multi task and can combine them, then it is not something that is forbidden for gamblers, but be mindful that you are not causing an issue doing that as a result of your distracted and divided mind.

I do not see any problem doing these things like smoking or drinking cofee or soda, I even eat meal in front of my pc while playing games since slots spin can be automated.  People minds can be trained to multitask.  The way we think of it, we often multitask in our work, like doing the assignment, specifically copying or writing something, while conversing with a friend.  Watching TV while we pet our cat or dog and so on.

I think this depends on the level of multitasking ability of the person, or maybe it depends on the type of game the people gamble on.  Like in my case, I play slots, so doing other things does not disrupt me from my gambling activities because slots can be automated with limitations.

View gambling as a hobby; it's better to understand it at that way so that you won't think of it as anything different.

Let me as you OP, whenever you watch a movie or do something in general, do you also eat or smoke at the same time? Whenever you engage in your hobby, do you also do anything else? That explains why some people do other activities- just to make things more interesting in the process.

Perhaps you view gambling more as a venue of earning money than a hobby. Most people that view it as entertainment do not necessarily care about their expenses. They're primarily doing it for fun regardless if they win or not.

In your case OP, since you are focused on every decision that you do while you gamble, then perhaps you view it as an alternative means of earning money which explains the decisions that you do.

If sides activities helps your friend enjoy their gambling, they should do it but if the side activities is something that can affect their health they should not, smoking and drinking are side activities when compounded can expose your friends to bad health.
If you not doing any side activities helps you like your gambling, you should do it too.

I sometimes hear people even gamble at work, even betting. This really surprises me, because people's responsibilities—perhaps even their lives—depend on the players who are trying to figure out how to place a winning bet. I remember the times a taxi driver bet while driving me home one evening. I was shocked because he wanted to win a few cents, but he was risking his life and mine on the road. Besides, drinking alcohol is part of many cultures, almost with any activity, so you're basically feeling like you're the odd one out in that environment. But be careful about choosing to spend that money meant for fun on gambling. I hope it's because you don't like alcohol, because even though drinking alcohol isn't good, in excess you'd be limiting your leisure time to gamble, which could be a sign of addiction.

People can do whatever makes themselves feel better and comfortable and relaxed when making gambling decisions based on their current state of enjoyment or entertainment.  It doesn't lead to addiction unless it has become a more frequent indulgence than necessary.
Besides if in a group of persons and catching some fun, it is wise to be in the moment and enjoy that instead of always checking your device to make predictions and to check if your results have clicked to decide how happy or involved you would be at the moment.

I do even worry about the way your are gambling since you say that you seems to be so much focused with the game you are playing with no other activities you do while gambling.

That is a very common habit in my opinion, especially in the gambling environment where I live. Almost all of my gambler friends gamble while smoking and drinking coffee, and so far there is nothing wrong with that. In my opinion, what is wrong is when you consume something that can cloud your judgment and rational thinking, such as alcohol (getting drunk) or other substances like drugs. These two things can cause you to make decisions without proper consideration, which could ultimately lead to harm.
For me, smoking or drinking coffee can create a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere, which indirectly helps my mind stay calm as well.

Actually it would be just that depending on someones preference, doing something while you are doing gambling doesnt have any issue since its something that you do want to do in the first place. Dont mind much about that you wouldnt be smoking or drinking just because you are thinking that you should be rather making use of that money for you to gamble? Thats a solid sign that you are that putting up that much focus on gambling on which it might be leading up to that addiction but actually it would be just that depending on you. You can do all the things you do want while you do gamble and its none others business on how they would be spending up their money and on how and what are the things that they will be doing aside while they are gambling. As long you are comfortable on doing that and as long you are that spending up money that you can afford to lose. Good or not? If you do find out that it do make you lose in focus then its up to you whether you would stop it or not.

Doing all of these side activities that you have listed while gambling is not bad, you can call it bad if it's causing problems for the gambler but in a situation where it's not cause the gambler any harm and it is not stopping them from winning, then it's not bad. You friend like what they are doing and they feeling satisfied doing it while they are gambling, so why do you have a problem  with that? Since you can not cope doing that, it means that it's not good for you and if you force it, it might distract you from making accurate decision while gambling.

People are different and so their way of approach towards certain things, taking you for instance, when I was in the University, I used to see some of my friends read with music or headset on, and that's keep them going while reading, whereas I'm thr kind of person that loves reading in absolute quiet environment. So coming to your question as regards to side activities while gambling, it depends on what works for you and don't follow others, if you can't concentrate and may get distracted while doing side stuff then just focus on your gambling.

These are recreational activities actually. Yes, gamblers can include such activities and it helps them relaxed and enjoy the session some more. I love gambling over and bottle of beer especially when my friends are around bandit and is lots of fun.

Gamblers who engage in productive tasks like office work or family time and gambling at the same time would always strain one process for the other and would lead to less productive outcomes, less focus on your gambling activities and this may seem you make unintentional mistakes and may end up gambling above your budget.
