Is Doing Side Activities While Gambling, is it good or not?

So I observe most of my friends doing other activities while gambling, some of them smoking and some of them drink coffee or soda. Is it common for gamblers to do other activities while gambling? Does it help them to focus or not? I would like to hear other opinions too.

These are recreational activities actually. Yes, gamblers can include such activities and it helps them relaxed and enjoy the session some more. I love gambling over and bottle of beer especially when my friends are around bandit and is lots of fun.

Gamblers who engage in productive tasks like office work or family time and gambling at the same time would always strain one process for the other and would lead to less productive outcomes, less focus on your gambling activities and this may seem you make unintentional mistakes and may end up gambling above your budget.

Everyone has their way of doing when gambling. Some play music to boost their morale. And those who smoke or drink while gambling believed that doing that would boost their morale in gambling. So we can't just say whether it is good or or is bad. It might be bad for your sight but it is good for the person who is doing it. I have no idea when this concerns with land based casinos because in my place there are none but for online casinos things like this can be very common in my country where when there are gamblers playing there must always be a coffee or a cigarette next to them.

Every bodie's got their choices and way of life man, this is why a man's food could be another man's poison, you may like to gamble and focus on doing that alone, but others out there may love to have a bottle of juice or alcoholic substances to sip from time to time while they play their game..

For me though, the only place where I often see that people gamble and at the same time they are drinking and some smoking as well is in physical casinos, physical casinos often have bars by the side where gamblers can buy any type of drinks and even cigarettes, I rarely have seen a gambler gambling using their phone and drinking or smoking at the same time..
But one I myself often do most of the time is gambling and watching a movie, but the only time I do this is if I've been the movies and it's kind of boring, I pick up my phone and start gambling while watching to keep things interesting.

I don't like doing anything else while gambling because I don't want to be distracted. Of course it common to do other activities while gambling because it's obvious they can not gamble without doing those things but just that most of them don't have a limit, at least let's do one thing at a time so that you would be able to know where your mistake is coming from. The most annoying part is that after messing around with smoking and drinking they would still be the ones that would complain it to their friends without realizing that gambling involves losses.

all these things you mention cannot reduce consciousness in gambling especially when you gamble with the big amount of money, the only remedy that I found in the gambling is that when you Gamble you don't need to worry about it because gambling is all about love you have to go and sleep and forget about the gambling if you win you to be for you and if you lose it will be for you, but taking different kinds of drink neither non-alcoholic drink and alcoholic drink to calm yourself down because you're Gamble I think all those things cannot make you to be free you're only thing that will make you to be free from gambling is for you to take a sleep

I believe we all do have our side activities if you are referring to drinking soda which is extremely common to people gambling and sometime I am even eating as I love to eat dinner while hitting the buy bonus and enjoying the fun of such activity. These though are not side activities, mostly they are normal activities while gambling, side activity is for example to watch a movie while you are gambling which can result in confusion when you need to make a big decision during some gambling peak session which can result in a lot of money being lost because of that.

Well, everyone's brain is not the same. Smoking and drinking coffee, I don't see that as what to distract someone from what they are doing like gambling.

Someone who smoke or drink coffee, I can still be focus on gambling if they want to. I don't think that will be the reason why their eyes or mind will be off  from gambling because of that. I have seen so many people who are still focus and active with their gambling outputs, the same way that you that doesn't smoke or drinking coffee is, while gambling is. So, don't think those that find themselves smoking while gambling doesn't know what they are less concentrate in gambling

From my point of view, none of the side activities that you mentioned here have a big impact while we do gambling. Because there are no drug types things like alcohol or other types of drugs, if there were, I would say that kind of side activity could have a big impact on gambling because then we would not have mental control. But smoking or drinking coffee or soda is pretty normal things.

And I have also used to get some coffee or the soda or even smoke while  I am doing gambling. And that never impact on my gambling.

The lesson you have to take from your friends who are doing other activities while Gambling is that, you should not be too serious about gambling because, gambling is not worth wasting your attention for every decision that you will take at the end of the day will still boil down to luck. So what is the essence of you wasting time concentrating on what you know is not sure about.


The best way to go as far as am concern is enjoy yourself while gambling, after all the purpose of gambling is for enjoyment and entainment. There are people who smoke, drinks and do other things while gambling as far as it's something that, makes you happy you should do while gambling.

I don't think that gamblers who does other activities while gambling  loses focus. I think that is one of their normal or daily routine while gambling. I see that as part of them. It make might keep them calm and comfortable while gambling. I think it makes them concentrate while gambling. And if they don't do it they might feel that the process is slow and may feel exhausted and tied.

It is not a must that you will do other activities while gambling like your friends. Smoke and drinking while gambling is not for everyone, I suggest you gamble as you usually do without those things. Who knows if adding those things may reduce your fund or increase the risk of losing

It's very common, this is to release the tension that's building up, I cannot consider this as other activities, but part of the process of betting.
Many gamblers are comfortable doing those things; many of them do them out of habit, way before they started gambling.
When it comes to gambling, every gambler has their own way of relaxing and releasing tension; whatever it is, it helps them make a decision or place their bets.

We all have different habits. That’s just how they gamble, maybe it helps them feel more relaxed. I also do that while playing video games, but not while gambling. I’d rather pause, eat properly, and then come back after I finish eating. It’s not bad to buy something like food or cigarettes. At least even if you lose, you’ve still enjoyed a bit of your budget. It can actually be quite detrimental to become distracted by doing more than one thing and that applies in so many areas in life. You don't see people playing fast paced shooter or racing games doing more than one thing. It's exactly the same when it comes to gambling, especially in a skilled game like poker. The smallest hints or calculations can get missed if you are not laser focused on it, otherwise it could become quite costly for you. Even when you're playing unskilled games, you won't even get as much joy out of the money that you're spending if you're only giving it half or less than half of your attention span. I don't believe that multitasking is helpful in this scenario, even if it is useful in other situations.

I know of some traders that anytime they want to analyze the market, they usually smoke, not ordinary cigarette but the more intense ones that charges other brains. They claim it allows them to see the market clearly and make good decisions in the market. Again, another set don’t indulge in such and still happen to see clearly the market and make good decisions also in the market.

Why I’m bringing this comparison is to make you know that all this are individual decisions, and if you don’t find yourself in that circle, don’t think your own method isn’t better or won’t work out for you. Only stick to what works for you best and not allow peer group influence gets over you. It is their own choice to smoke while gambling and if it gives them good results, know that they’ll always come back to smoke and gamble.

In the long run, every gambler has their own unique patterns and as long as it works for them, then that’s just okay, it doesn’t really matter what someone else may think about it, because what works for me may not really work for you and that’s just how it is. Some gamblers can feel distracted by indulging in other activities while gamble, while some other person could actually draw some inspiration from it.

Normally smoking and drinking are what can be done and you wont be distracted so as for gambling i dont think it will make one to lose attention but their are some activities that can make you lose focus . If you think what you are doing and gambling at the same time will make you to lose focus in gambling,  then it is better to stay easy from it concentrate better. I know having full focus is not a guarantee to win in gambling but good focus is important.

For some, smoking or drinking brings more relaxation for them, while they continue to engage in gambling and make more wise betting analysis. And even myself, I also mixed up gambling with drinking occasionally because it gives me more drive and motivation to keep making smart and educated bets to increase my chances of winning.

However, just because it works for others, then you will do the same way too. If its not making you comfortable, then avoid it for your covenience.
