One thing that you can add to the list is setting a time limit, when you gamble for hours repeatedly it increases the risks of getting addicted to gambling. A Lot of people gamble for an hour or two but they don't really see any problem with it because they stake low but they are ignorant of the fact that the more time they put into the more they get addicted to it. Gambling with the hopes of getting rich through it can be another reason why people get addicted, instead of taking it as a means to entertain themselves they try to make it a source of income
You're correct though but still there's no big deal in how to avoid gambling addiction but the greed trap for quick and huge profits wouldn't let many gamblers keep to the simple responsible gambling habits which are setting a bankroll and betting limit, time limit spent for gambling and using the funds which you wouldn't be moved to chase after on losing it to the house. Be it for entertainment or profit purpose of gambling, you still have to act with some decency otherwise you still would be addicted and your finance would suffer for it.

I only have two options to avoid gambling addiction, first is never you get involved at first because when once you are in then it will only take the grace to pull out that is why i can never predict a game and give to someone i know is not into gambling to play it, no i can never try that because unknowingly i leading that person to his or her doom, second is if you are into gambling and you feel like you are getting addicted by it, just make sure you look for something that will take most of your time daily, because if you are always busy there wont be that urge for gambling and before you know it you will get over it these are my own tip.

First of all, you need to make up your mind that not everyone can get rich by gambling because it is completely dependent on luck. So, you need to make many changes in your life to prepare your mind and body.
You should focus on your job or business because if you are busy here then your gambling addiction will decrease a lot. If you don't have money to live on start working today and work hard and learn to bear the expenses of your family.
Set some goals and work hard to achieve them. When you achieve success in your goals you will feel the same joy as winning at gambling. Spend your free time at the beach with family and friends and you will forget about gambling.

In other for a gambler not to get addicted, he needs to have self control, it is important to control yourself while gambling to avoid making harsh decisions that will affect your gambling activities and your life, also to avoid chasing your losses and wins and accepting the outcome of your gambling result whenever it's out .
Everyone talks about these two things, but it is important to know how to control yourself and avoid chasing losses. In fact, this thing of gambling is a psychological game. Here it is like fighting with your mind and thoughts. You will feel like you will win the next bet and this feeling will force you to lose control over yourself again and again. You will set a limit in advance, as soon as I lose this amount, I will get out of the bet. You should think like this in the case of chasing losses too. And you should understand to yourself that losing in gambling is very common. So, you should bet with that amount so that even if you lose, it does not affect anything.

Addicted people do not accept because they have the mindset that they are doing the best thing for themselves but when they have lost it all that's the only time you can agree that they have been addicted for long and by then it becomes very late for them because they have lost it all. If one can avoid being greedy and selfish there are chances of not becoming too addicted and if you see anyone who struggles to stop a particular addiction the best thing is to render help to them because they can't help themselves.

It’s not easy for someone with an addiction to break free from that vicious cycle; the addiction will continue to haunt them, and most people fail to fight it, so they just go with the flow. However, some people become aware of it and try to break free even though it’s difficult and while a few do manage to overcome their addiction, not many succeed. You’re right that greed is what leads a person to ruin. Additionally, there are those whose lives are ruined because they remain trapped in addiction, clinging to the same hope of achieving a victory that could transform their lives for the better but for the most part, it’s just wishful thinking.

Be it for entertainment or profit purpose of gambling, you still have to act with some decency otherwise you still would be addicted and your finance would suffer for it.
The most addicted gamblers are actually those think gambling for fun cannot make them addicted. Slowly they get addicted without them knowing. And when you ask them if they are addicted, they say no. Meanwhile if you trace their gambling history you will notice how frequent they have been on the gambling platform they use. It is a different person that has the right to tell us if we are addicted or not. Someone who is addicted will hardly differentiate when he is normal to when he becomes an addict.

Both of you had a good point, particularly on the development of gambling addiction that is silent and usually combined with denial. People have the illusion that they are not going too far when they already are. To prevent this, one should have a rigid limit on time and money and should never pursue losses since that is where all goes bad. Gambling is never supposed to be a means of earning money, it should be treated as entertainment. Breaks and telling yourself the truth about what you are doing may go a long way. The process of addiction is a way that starts as soon as you stop thinking about yourself.

I completely agree with you, the best way to gamble is to set yourself a strict spending limit, once you have spent that money, you need to stop and do something else. If you lose control, it is best to seek help as soon as possible to avoid dipping into your savings and ruining your life. I have seen people with plenty of money spend a fortune on lotteries and slot machines, you really need to be very careful expecially when you are feeling down.

~snip~ 3. Have someone else manage your money ~snip~
TBH this happened to one of the workers in my company. He was really addicted to gambling and ended up with a lot of debt because of it. The company found out about his situation when debt collectors came to the office looking for him. After that incident, he was allowed to continue working at the company under several conditions. One of them is that a friend manages his money and he is given a limited amount each week for his daily needs. I’m not sure how long the arrangement will last, but so far, he hasn’t gone back to gambling.

I think the most important piece of advice would be to truly understand the math behind gambling—something I don't see anyone having mentioned on either the first page or this one, and I highly doubt anyone has mentioned it in the entire thread. But to truly understand them—not just have a vague idea, as gamblers generally do. The problem is that many won’t succeed even if they try.
If you come to understand concepts like expected value, variance, and the difference between the long term and the short term in what we call luck, you’ll stop placing false hopes in something you know has an inexorable mathematical edge over your money, and thus you won’t fall into problematic behaviors.

Greed is not just the only reason why people become addicted to gambling. Lack of understanding, mindset, gambling without limit can also be the reason why people become addicted to gambling. Gambling is really a silent killer to those who does not really understand gambling but aiming to win bu all means, this makes one to become desperate and to gamble with more money thst cant be afford and this continously makes one to be addicted that even when one comes to realize they struggle with the addiction of gambling. For one not to be addicted to gambling you need to be prepared in the mind and to understand what gambling is all about, if not you will be driven to the direction of getting addicted.

That is why people has to be conscious in term of gambling, so that they won't be pushed to gamble in a way it will lead them into being addicted, because being addicted will slowly destroy their lives, which they will find it difficult to escape. Which is why the earlier they start to practice responsible gambling, the better for them, as they will be able to prevent damage in an early stage, which will also save them from stress that will affect their financial aspects and their wellbeing.

You have a point. addiction to gambling is usually silent and by the time a person notices it is always too late to do anything about it, as the damage is already done. I do concur that greed contributes significantly to this particularly when individuals begin to pursue the losses or where they begin to think that they can always recover what they lost. The only solution to this is to ensure that gambling is taken as a form of entertainment and not a source of income. It is highly essential to have specific time and money boundaries and follow them regardless of the circumstances. It will also be used to prevent gambling when one is emotional since they make impulsive choices. By being mindful and sincere with oneself, one may avoid things going out of control at an early stage.

I will stop at these tips while I await more from you all. Please the bottom line is, let’s gamble responsibly, if you must gamble and stay out of bad habits and practices that will lead to gambling addiction because it is easier to get to that stage but very difficult to leave. I usually set a budget for gambling so that the minimum I spend is no more than my plan and I try to stop, whether I win or lose. This has worked for me personally because so far, my gambling activity has been much more controlled and I haven't indulged in it excessively like most people I know. Bad gambling practices arise from a person's inability to control when to stop and are generally influenced by greed. Many people I meet do this, always thinking they'll win the next game, so stopping at a certain point actually eliminates the potential for winning. In reality, it's just an illusion and they continue to be trapped in subsequent losses. Therefore, I have the conviction to set a budget and learn the discipline to stop gambling under certain circumstances.

Addiction develops gradually. A person may not realize at first that he is becoming addicted. Gradually getting out of control and eventually losing control completely is addiction, which is our habitual problem. Some of the early signs of addiction are that a gambler continues to play even after spending a lot of money or losing it and does not want to admit that he is losing. People are mainly ignorant of the harms of gambling due to greed, attracted to making quick money. However, conscious people can control themselves first and take a break, which reduces the chances of making wrong decisions, but those who continue to play based on emotions without caring about the losses, gradually lead to disaster.

Gambling should never be considered a source of income, and if you participate in gambling for fun in life, then gambling will never become an addiction. You will not participate in gambling haphazardly, but you will participate in gambling with a weekly or monthly budget. In this case, of course, if you participate in gambling with a fund budget and time management, it will be less likely to ever become an addiction for you. If you like gambling, then you must discuss it with your family members and if your family members give you permission to participate in gambling, then you will participate in gambling and if they ask you to refrain, then you will refrain from gambling. Remember, with the full support of your family, you can keep yourself away from gambling.

I will agree 100% with finding something else that will take your time, Because of a true if as a person you’re busy doing other things, jobs, or life activities in general then it will be difficult to get addicted to the point were you will then be gambling 24/7. But about not trying gambling at all, yeah it could and would for sure help, but I still feel like even if someone try’s gambling, that doesn’t mean they would automatically be addicted, they’re so many gamblers who are not close to gambling addiction at all. I feel it’s just all about discipline.

Making it a habit is a serious thing so one who is thinking that gambling is some kind of hobby, even if they are very clear that it is not a source of income, still they are running into the possibility of addiction.
And then the obvious thing, don't bet just because you are in need of money. I noticed many people do that with sports betting which kind of leads to addiction in the long term and then finally don't bet with money which is not yours this is not directly related to addiction but as an individual it affect a person lot mentally.
