The playing safe I can imagine here is playing low house edge games such as dice with set high winning chance rate but with low payout.

It gives a safe play because it only has low risk of losing in exchange of a very small payout that makes the game boring and almost no chance of winning in long run.

I agree that you will only find a potential profit if you will make a bold step to risk hoping to win big as much as possible since house edge will make every gambler at loss in the long run.

It's the obvious, if you play safe and doesn't want to take a risk and all-in then mostly you might have to regret it for the rest of your life. I mean, just go with the flow and see how it goes. If it doesn't work for you and you lose, then at least you try.

Sometimes you really need this kind of going out of the box and see what might be in the other side of the pasture, it could be green or not. OP, getting out of your comfort zone doesn't have to be about gambling. I agree when someone is afraid to start their own business, rechecking all their steps dozens of times, but taking risks in gambling is equivalent to the appearance of another complex or fear.
Risk is a noble thing, but it doesn't have to be stupid, and gambling is just a stupid risk. Mediocrity is considered someone who does not know how to create anything and does not have talents, but this is far from the person who knows how to think and not make stupid mistakes.

You will never win in gambling if you’re always playing too safe, you have to change that mentality if you really want to win.

There are people who do not realize that life itself is gambling. The fact they are gambling when they decide to leave their home each day in order to work, they are essentially gambling with their life and their physical integrity.

You are actually correct to some point but being safe or playing safe cannot be harmful rather something that can be harmful is being too safe ( being safe excessively) and there is no doubt it can lead to obsession, I have seem someone who is too careful or safe to the point they can not even help themselves and I call it " obsession". Nope, not in gamble. Even if you make a bold and thoughtful decision, there's no guaranteed that you'll win and it's literally a win or lose situation and it's risky to take bold decision in gambling. Even in trading, I don't see any professional traders that do bold moves and take risks, they always keep their losses small. Although I understand what are you saying, if you won't risk, you'll never profit however most of the people here are having fun and keeping their losses small means, a longer play or longer fun. Though having that kind of thought in gambling would definitely ruin your balance, since even if you make a bold and thoughtful decision, it's gambling and everything will happen including losing. My suggestion and based on my own experience, do what makes you happy, if you are comfortable and happy in small risks bet, then do it and if you're having fun with high risk and high reward but you afford to lose it, then go for it.

I somewhat get the point of OP, but I can't blame those who stick to playing safe, because sometimes it's what works best for them. It wouldn't hurt to change your approach, still it's hard to plunge into something new when you can't get the results you're expecting.

There was a time when i'd struggle for months because I thought changing things would be for the better, but it only backfired and put me deeper in the hole. I guess to each their own, because you can't really tell how luck would treat you in certain moments.

I agree with the point you made on your first paragraph op, some persons are where they are today because they chose to be playing safe all the time, Forgotten that life on it own involved uncertainty.  playing safe all the time in life would take you no where. Instead it would hide you from reaching your full potential.

I would not fully agree with your second paragraph, because there are people who life has completely blessed with opportunities, let's take for instance those born into wealthy or privilege backgrounds are completely favored in life, they don't have to start from scratch nor struggle like those from poor or less privilege backgrounds. Those from less privilege background are the one to create opportunities for themselves, which sometimes involves greater risks. and my advice to this people is, in the process of chasing their dream life, they should take calculated risks, not reckless risks.

The worse risk you can take in this life is not taking any risk at all. Being alive is already risky because I'f you aren't careful you will end up miserably. In gambling you should be able to take calculated risk. There's no guarantee of winning, but there's a chance in one of a million play that you would win something.
