Without doing any research I can actually say that gamblers that are benefiting from gamble in aspect of winning their bet are lower than the gamblers that are losing their bet because there's no guarantee to win any game except the gambler is lucky, which makes me believe that losers are more than the winners. If you observe properly, we could notice that the gambers that are winning their bet are likely gambling for entertainment (am not sure actually, probably not all of them), meanwhile those gamblers that are losing their bet are desperately gambling to make money through it. Even after multiple trials and no positive results, why not quit?.

What really made me create this thread is because I still can't figure out why people who lose often can't quite gambling or take a break even when they know that they can't win to recover their money.

People are really out there just gambling for different purposes, and for whatever reason they are doing it, losing will always be there, and the majority of us have been losing more than we ever will make from gambling unless luck decides.

Both the entertainment-only gamblers and the gambling-for-profit set are all losing; one party is just losing more because they treat it as an investment, while the other party is losing what they can actually spare. For those who are playing for fun, the loss doesn't really matter to them, so stopping because of loss won't be an option for them, and for those who play for profit, most won't stop; some will retrace their steps, but the majority, as long as they still see winning and know there is hope to win, will never stop.

They are risk takers, you know; they like to take their chances and see what it will yield them. You can't talk those gamblers out of it; you only see some taking a break when they don't have money to fund their gambling lifestyle. If not, they are always trying to figure out something, and the result will still be the same.

The reply is simple, addiction. They're already stuck in it that they cannot control themselves anymore, even quitting doesn't seem possible since to them, they cannot do without gambling.

I always say that when you've come to that extent that you're consistently chasing loses without being able to control your emotions, then you should quit until you're able to heal from responsibility and reorient yourself towards gambling so as to be able to control your emotions better, maintain your discipline and approach gambling with a budget.

"Gambling triggers the brain's reward system, releasing dopamine—a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and motivation—in response to the excitement and anticipation of winning."  quoted from Gambling and The Brain
https://responsiblegambling.vic.gov.au/documents/1013/GHAW2021_VRGF_Gambling_and_the_brain_A4_2.pdf

Those are experts giving you solid science to answer the question.

My Note: One way to get control is to occasional wager extremely small amounts, Stake is a good place for that.

I agree with you but not totally because there are things that are not true. Gambling is a game of luck but some people don't believe it is a game of luck because they allow their mindset to convince them that it's based on how good or skillful someone is that determines winning. Most of the people who win in gambling are not gambling for fun and no doubt that majority of the people that gambles do make loss than profit that is for sure though there are some persons that are winning and losing back and this kind of people sometimes it look as if they are playing. So the reason why some people cannot stop gambling after several losses is because they have made up their mind to get rich through gambling and some feels losing is just temporary.

They are either addicted or just chasing losses and potential profits. When someone loses money, the natural reaction is to try to win it back, thinking the next bet might fix everything. That "could be the next one" mindset can be really powerful. Add to that the occasional small win that gives hope, and it keeps people stuck in the cycle.
Also, the more frequently they place bets, the more chances and the more money they're going to lose. Not all those who treat gambling as entertainment are the ones who usually win, they actually share the same chances and probability with compulsive gamblers, and it just makes sense why the compulsive gamblers lose more, simply because they also place bets more frequently.

In the end, the gamblers who last the longest are usually the ones who treat it strictly as entertainment and only bet what they are willing to lose, and these are the responsible gamblers. The moment someone starts seeing it as a reliable way to make money, that's when the problems usually begin.

What really made me create this thread is because I still can't figure out why people who lose often can't quite gambling or take a break even when they know that they can't win to recover their money.
The reply is simple, addiction. They're already stuck in it that they cannot control themselves anymore, even quitting doesn't seem possible since to them, they cannot do without gambling.
It's not addiction to me, it's actually part of life, it goes alongside with their living, some days they gamble, some days, they do not, some even have to overcome playing everyday but only gamble during the weekend. That's how this thing works, it's just the same way you are always on the Bitcointalk forum contributing your opinion, should we say you are addicted to Bitcointalk? NO

When constantly gambling and never quitting becomes a lifestyle, not addiction. Addiction could means that, you invest everything in it and loss even sleep to it everyday by day, even borrowing money for it untill falling into various debts.

So these type of gamblers who can't quit have integrated their gambling into their lifestyle, everyday leaving. It's now part of them for forever.

Well first of all gambling is addictive, even when you loss you will still want to go back and gamble, and it is very hard to quit.

Secondly for those who gamble for the right reason, it is for entertainment and the losses doesn't really matter and it doesn't count as well.

Thirdly most people find different things from gambling, other that the concern of money, socialisation, peace, friend, etc
Money is like the least of consern to them.

people losing their bets doesn't necessarily mean there continuous playing is to recover their money NO. I gamble and I have been losing for a while now, but I still manage to stay on budget which still makes the gambling healthy for me. You don't quit because you are not winning, unless you've resulted to chasing your losses uncontrollably, afterall gambling is for entertainment. You only quit if you're gambling irresponsibly and want to work on yourself for a while so that you don't end up with a terrible financial condition.

That friend is proof of addiction, so you don't need to be surprised by it. People who are addicted will continue to gamble until they run out of money, even if they experience a losing streak.
They will only stop when their money is running low or has run out completely.
They will keep chasing and chasing the money they have lost while continuing to add more money to what they have lost. You know that people like that will never win at gambling, even if they get a big win, their expectations will become even more greedy when they succeed in winning, which will lead them to fall again.

Gambling for entertainment or using a desperate approach has nothing to do with winning or losing so someone who's Gambling with what he can afford to lose can hit the jackpot including those who chase wins or try to double their money. I've heard of several cases of people who bet with millions and they sure win, and that's one of the problem of gambling addiction today's because the reason people like that show off their winning is to get more people to believe that they actually have good gambling strategy whereas in reality they're just like every gambler except the fact that they gamble with huge stakes. So yeah, when people see things like that they'll want to be like that guy winning millions but then gamble wasn't designed that way, however their minds have first been configured to think that they can build a comfortable off gambling which is why they just can't quit even when they are on losing streak. The evidence of people winning millions has greatly influenced their hope and they just cant give up.

In a general view, no one wants to lose in gambling. Everyone has the goal of profiting from gambling, but in most cases, it is true that the amount of loss in gambling is high. And there are many reasons for losing. In my view, if someone wins after gambling, he does not stop betting because his goal is to place a bigger bet and win more. On the other hand, the one who is losing is also trying to think that if he places a bet again, maybe it is possible to recover his money. He does not stop gambling but keeps getting involved in one bet after another. As a result, even if he wins in one bet, he loses in another bet. Whether it is a win or a loss, gamblers are gambling and losing. But both gamblers have a dream that they may win someday which will allow them to cover all their losses. On the other hand, some think that they will win big.

They don't know or think that way, that is the thing. It's we who think and know that gambling cannot be a source of income and one can't make money constantly from it, but those who can't quit or stop gambling have a different mindset, they are either addicted to gambling and are now unable to get away from it, or they believe that they can actually make money from it, which is why they keep trying because they have the mindset that the next bet is going to get them to recover what they have lost so far, and this doesn't change, after each bet, the feeling gets stronger that they are now going to recover whatever they have lost and they shouldn't stop.

So it's not like people know everything and still continue to waste their money, they just have that hope of recovering whatever has been lost so far, and this hope keeps them going even when they are still losing constantly, because they don't believe that they are not going to able to recover all this, they believe they can recover everything if they continue, and even worse, some of them believe that they are going to recover it quicker if they increase their bets, and they do so, and instead of recovering, they keep losing more over time.

Gambling is mainly for entertainment, another thing is that to win in gambling you have to depend on luck, only lucky people can achieve success or win big money by gambling. Most people are very greedy, they do not believe in luck, they gamble in the hope of getting money quickly, their main goal is to make money very easily or get rich through gambling, they always think that it is possible to win a lot of money with a small amount of money. They gamble in the hope of winning a lot of money despite losing repeatedly, they believe that even if they do not win once, they will win next time and get back all the money they lost, as well as winning a lot of money. With this hope, they return to gambling even after losing repeatedly.

If you continue to want to figure it out you would end at getting no better answer to what you think you're looking for. The reason to gamble for everyone is quite different and people even change from what really drove them into gambling into another, and that's why you can see someone getting addicted who initially doesn't seem like one who can fall into gambling addiction because he was not really taking it seriously in the beginning.

You seems to be confusing many things here, there are people who lose and there are people who win but there is no such kind who will always win and there is always lose, so even if someone lose their bet now doesn't mean they will not win their next bet is enough reason to understand why they are still gambling.

The should quit if they don't find it's entertaining or they can't afford to wager any more money.

Optimistic is the reason why most people don’t quit , some persons are hopeful that one day it will favor them , people gamble for different purposes, some maybe for fun , some to get rich , and if doesn’t come , they keep pushing , but there are people who stop the moment they realize that the winning is not coming, so it’s based on individuals opinions , people are not the same both in thinking and how they want to leave their lives , so that is why everyone will not quit if the winning is not coming while some will take a break to process for sometime.

Because a common misconception among people who regularly lose money gambling is that losing one or a few bets in a row makes it easier to win the next one. However, winning or losing a bet does not significantly affect your chances of winning the next one. Perhaps your confidence may increase or decrease due to the psychology created by winning or losing. Beyond that, if you're a bettor who makes unsuccessful predictions, no matter what you do, that's who you are.

People return to gambling after losing, thinking something has changed, but in reality, everything remains the same. This is precisely why they continue to lose consistently.

OP, if that you understand human nature, you would have find out that, it is in our nature to be finding interest in things we love even though we fail in those things countless times, we will still be drawn to it, trying our luck as many times as possible till the time we decide on own to quit gambling because of the unbearable losses.

Gambling as we have it, many gamblers believes that a day will come when they will recover their losses. Quiting now is not an good option for them until the day they will win big. Then will they think, if to continue gambling or quit gambling entirely

The chances of losing the bet is higher than winning it. So even though you lose the first bet, you still do not have any guarantee that you will win the second one. I believe this is the conception many gamblers have that is why when they are losing  a lot of money they still continue gambling. I get it that it is not easy as it seems to stop gambling but with your mind made up you can do it, even though stopping will be hard, at least taking a break will help a lot, it will help them save up some money for a while or even use the money for other important things.
