That's just it, no one would know what the future entails, otherwise no one would ever make mistake. Although it is certain that all gamblers knows that they will lose but they just keep trying their luck. What makes gambling what it is, is because it is unpredictable despite we claim to predict. So if gambling where to be predicted accurately or if people knew they where going to loose, nobody will gamble. because the loser are more than the winners.

Being in this situation is incredibly distressing. I was in a position where I was hoping for a big win after a significant loss in the past. It is really good news that you have been able to protect yourself from the addiction and you have found a right way to keep yourself in control. Basically the only way to stay away from gambling is to keep yourself busy because when you have an emotion towards gambling, if you cannot keep yourself busy with something else, then you will not be able to stay away from gambling. Idle time will lead you to bad addiction again and again because although gambling harms us financially, it is a place of great joy, so if you live a lazy life, you will never be able to stay away from gambling if you once have an emotion towards gambling.

This is exactly what I call the “cycle of gambling” where the gambler would be kept on an endless cycle of winning/losing regardless of the result he/she may face.

Most gamblers that are too focused on viewing it as a means of income would most likely fall into this cycle. In order to at least avoid being too addicted, changing perspective and seeing it as a means of entertainment can be both helpful and tolerable at the same time.

Just to add, this is also the reason on why you should set your expectations whenever you gamble. Of course, every gambler has the dream of winning and hitting the jackpot but this is too far from reality given the chances of doing so.

How someone knows that he will lose or win in next attempt? 
Sure, the chance of losses is higher but there is no way that we can claim someone must lose in the next bet. If someone knows that he will lose, he must stop and never bet again. Yep, the probability of win or lose that make people keep playing gambling. As long as there is a chance to win, people will continue to gamble. Even the chance to win is rather low.

You were very valid in the aspect that gambling can become a psychological struggle when individuals view it as a method of becoming rich fast or they view it as an income generator to depend on. When emotions set in, it would be extremely hard to remain rational, particularly after making huge losses. Most gamblers end up struggling in the trap of trying to recover those losses through the hope that a big win will correct the situation yet that will only end up worsening the situation. The personal experience also brings to the fore something important, and it is that you need to acknowledge that gambling begins to impact your control and mentality. Keeping myself busy didn't help me to stay away from my addiction. based on my experience, I wasn't thinking about gambling when I was busy, but once I was done, the desire to gamble returned. so, I decided to take a way to blocking my access to money. how i can do that? the way is, when I earned money, I only kept a maximum of $15, in case i want to gamble I only have that money. The rest I gave to my wife. In this way, I slowly broke the habit of becoming a gambling addict. Of course, this method may not work for everyone, but I am happy because it has succeeded in reducing 90% of my desire to gamble.

I believe you should realistically assess your chances of winning in gambling, specifically, assess them as low, because with an RTP below 95%, the longer you play, the lower your chances of winning.
