There is no need to wait for a certain age. We can retire at any time. Besides, this is not a job, not even a business…it depends on us when.

However, I see a lot of gamblers separated from the gambling world, not because they want it but because they can no longer perform the task anymore. They were already paralyzed due to an accident. And I cite this example because a gambler won't easily get out of gambling like she/he wanted to. Mostly because they can't do it anymore, even though they still want to. There is always a reason behind retirement, and I can have one too someday. I don't know yet.

I don't really understand what you are taking about but we should always know that there is nothing like gambling retirement plan unless you are ready to lose everything that you have even if you have huge amounts of money you want to use to gamble.
I will never advise anyone to ever think of gambling retirement plan when we all know that gambling has no guarantee.

I had a good laugh at title.

Reads the content...laughs even more.

And look, even if I were to take gambling serious, it's not something I would want to pass down to my progeny, to pass down your gambling habit would be akin to doing damage to your offspring.

Every sphere of work has a certain number of Year in service.  Even Entrepreneurs have a certain age they plan.to work and hand over to their children or any of their predecessor at old Age.
I've seen quite a number of post asking the different times and hours that people gamble with, when yo gamble and when not to gamble amongst other post but it seems gamblers donot have any plan to retire from the gambling activities and hand over to the younger ones.
I think gambling should also have a retirement period. Not a specific age like the government works but like a personal commitment at a certain age. To hand over the gambling activities to the younger generations.
Maybe before that time you as an individual can have a target and work towards achieving it then you take that as a retirement benefit from all your Years of gambling.

People of any age can gamble for fun or to pass the time. Many people spend their time gambling when they have free time after retirement from their professional life and are not doing any work. So someone who gambles can gamble during their retirement instead of going into retirement. I have not seen anyone who sees gambling as a job or business and sets a time limit for gambling and then goes into retirement. So I think that no one does this.

I have said these before that gambling is not a job opportunity whereby someone will know when is due to retire, what you said is the best opinion so far, gambling is game of profit and loss, if you lose its of your detriment and if you gain its of your detriment, but the most important thing in gambling is that, know what you can afford to lose, because wining and losing is something you can't predict accurately, retiring in gambling is a decision taken by a gambler, it doesn't have to do with age, so i believe that in gambling if we the gamblers understand that gambling is not a job, we shall not be willing to know when to leave gambling or not.

Honestly, one should just stop gambling when one does not feel comfortable with it any longer and gambling itself cause stress and bad feelings within one's life.

There are people who are literally eighteen years old and gamble, while on the other hand, there are elderly who gamble in their seventies or eighties. It is a personal choice after all.

Also, I don't think gambling is something which is supposed to be passed to the next generations, as of gambling as some kind of business or career. I would not introduce gambling to my children just because I feel like retiring, I would allowed them to discover gambling by their own and allow them to gamble if they want to.

Yep putting a time frame on things can make us to over do it than necessary, because at a point the best way to retire from an activity is when you no longer have fun from doing that activities, gambling can't continue to be fun all the time and age, because driving fun from it can exist with time and as time goes on, you may lose interest in the fun and decide to quit instead waiting for a special retirement time.

What about those who are considered professional gamblers is it possible they’ll pass on their gambling skills? But I personally don’t think that’s likely to happen; after all, gambling offers no guarantees, and players face risks that are inevitable because they can’t be avoided. When it comes to gambling, the right approach is certainly to treat it solely as entertainment, not for other purposes like seeking or chasing profits. Setting limits whether on the budget used or the time spent gambling is important, as you said, and that makes more sense. And as for when to stop, I think we’ll each have our own judgment, but clearly, once you’re married, it’s better to quit.

I understand that gambling is nowhere near a regular career where individuals are able to foresee a definite retirement or leave something behind to the upcoming generation. Even professional gamblers are not able to assure the success of other people by merely observing them as they are always risky and uncertain. One can share skills and experience, but everything will always be based on luck and personal decisions. This is why I believe that the most appropriate solution is to make gambling more of an entertainment and never exceed any time and money limits. It is also important to have an exit plan. Since responsibility increases, particularly when one is married or has a family then it is natural that one may either decrease or even quit gambling altogether.

The most significant factor in gambling is luck, so even though there may be an inherited aspect to gambling in terms of skill, it ultimately comes down to each individual’s luck. Even if, for example, we inherit gambling skills, the outcomes won’t be the same I’m quite certain of that. Regardless, with the awareness we have, there will certainly be thoughts about reducing the habit of gambling or even quitting entirely, but the timing of that is uncertain because everyone has their own thoughts and plans; it’s just that at certain times, it’s best to consider reducing it or even quitting entirely.

I concur that there is no real sense in having a set retirement time in gambling since it is not a normal occupation and a structured business. Human beings tend to avoid it once they become bored or when the conditions of life vary. Gamblers in most cases do not retire as they wanted but they no longer have the fun. When the fun is lost then it would be easy to get into the habit of gambling instead of having fun. This is why it is more appropriate to consider gambling as a temporary fun. Once it is no longer fun or begins to influence personal life or financial status, it is normally the appropriate time to get out.

I see your argument--gambling does not really have an actual retirement plan. Gambling is not predictable, like a job or a business, even huge wins have no assurance of their permanence. Most gamblers do not go out of choice but because something compels them, either health problems or accidents. It is why considering a gambling retirement plan is a very risky thing to consider, you can always lose all your money despite how cautious you are. Knowing your limit, spending your money wisely and being willing to walk away when you have to is the safest way to go. Gambling cannot be trusted to be used as a permanent security provider.

The earlier you retire in gambling, the better. Because gambling is not some kind of activity that you'll get a benefit by getting a compensation if you retire older since it's not a job that is worthy to stay. Moreover, don't even think to pass it to the younger generation because as we know it can ruin the lives of the gamblers if they can't control themselves. The reason why it's not for everyone especially to those greedy to earn money. Gambling is ideal for people who's aware of the risk and can bear losing their money (since it's inevitable in gambling), yet not becoming addicted for having a discipline.

Well, no body wants to pass their habits to their children especially when it's something that could impact their lives in wrong way. However, when my children reach their adult age then it's their own choice to go for gambling or for something else, as a parent I'll always try to protect them, but the final decision is always going to be their not mine. And, to be honest the title of this topic is quite funny.  Wink
