I prefer Bitcoin only because its a low risk/reward coin and supported by a huge community. Other than Bitcoin, all rest of the coins are just bets if they go high you make money and if they go low you lose money. They are not even good for long term investment because anytime they can collapse, however the Bitcoin will always be there and it'll continue performing well even after a decade or two or multiple decades. For investors, I mostly recommend Bitcoin, but those who want to take high risk may buy good alt coins not the ones that promise high returns in short time because those are mostly scam coins/rug pulls.
Bitcoin isn't low risk. It's considered high risk due to its volatile nature. But compared against altcoins, Bitcoin has a much lower risk/reward ratio. Altcoins are highly-volatile and unproven. If you want quick profits, buy altcoins. For true generational wealth, nothing beats "hodling" Bitcoin for the long-term.
I usually diversify between BTC and top-ranked alts to minimize risks of loss as much as possible. Some "De-Fi" lending platforms offer high APY rates for stablecoin lenders, allowing you to earn massive rewards without the high risk. Depending on your situation/financial needs, will be the risk/reward ratio to take. Just avoid investing more than what you can't afford to lose, and there should be nothing to worry about.
