I don't think this has to do with personality, especially as all of us have that greed level in us; the ability to control and moderate it is all that matters. I will say it all has to do with the type of information the person has before they start gambling. If they are told gambling is an easy place to make money, that first early winning will make them believe that very well, but if they already know the result won't always be the same, then it's easier for the person to deal with it even if they get tempted by greed.

Many people can control themselves in that situation and many cannot. And if someone new to betting and gets a little more profit, he becomes more emotional. Then he starts betting aggressively. I believe gamblers don't become greedy; they come to the casino greedy (otherwise they wouldn't have come to a place where the reward is money). As you so accurately pointed out, this is a natural (I would say innate) human tendency. To varying degrees, everyone wants more (money), and that's normal. What's not normal is allowing this feeling to take over and control you, pushing you into unprofitable behavior (for example, making rash bets in gambling).

I guess you meant to say a lot of gamblers, if that's what you meant, then it's through, most gamblers who are better gamblers today definitely had some kind of experience like this when they were still newbies in gambling, like myself, I was almost addicted which was as a result of misconceptions and greed. Now that I know better, the real winning in gambling is by withdrawing, not by being greedy but some people are still living with the misconception that gambling is an easy way to wealth.
