In practice, he risks being more of a liability to the team than an asset. I really don't understand why the coach would want to include an injured player in the World Cup list when there are several other options for the coach who could have being given the slot, could it be that they are hoping that the player would recover on time before or during the tournament and if so, does it mean the player is so important that he couldn't be replaced despite being injured, does this mean that the Brazilian team are now short of credible players to warrant such a situation as this?

I came across this news today and it was suprising that he got injured before the competition even started, Neymar's presence on the pitch for the Brazilian team would now be determined by how long the Brazilian team would stay in the competition and if he'll recover fastly, people like me that would love to see him in the competition would be hoping that he recovers fastly.

 For the opening game against Morocco I doubt Ancelotti would risk putting him in the lineups if he recovers before then, they'll want him to be fully fit and undergo series of medical trainings before considering that he should be included in the squad again. Neymar is someone that's very emotional, this injury would really affect him emotionally.

Yes, Neymar is injured but he is still in the World Cup squad, he does not need a 3 month recovery process, as per the reports he will be back to fitness within 2 or 3 weeks and not three months like you speculated.

I read that Neymar might miss the first match. He won't miss the whole tournament. I don't think it's wise to have high expectations for Neymar. I also don't think he'll be very useful to Brazil. Betting on him playing is crazy.

I'm not sure the answer is that simple.
I've been following Ancelotti for years and he's managed a lot of big stars in the clubs he's coached, he's always had a great relationship with them but he's always had the fittest players playing for him, and no one played just for the name or past glory.
This whole injury story is strange and the question is whether Ancelotti had all the necessary information before his decision or is it really something that's only just been revealed.
It's clear that Neymar has a huge desire to play in this World Cup, there's also great expectation and public pressure and I sincerely hope that there hasn't been any manipulation in this case.
This story is not good for the Brazilian national team and will ruin their preparation and the atmosphere before the start of the World Cup.
