In light of recent news about California and Brazil law changes that forces Linux and other operating system to add mandatory Age Verification,
I have to ask if this can happen to Bitcointalk forum?
They are masking this as child protection, and we already saw they are doing something similar with Social Media accounts.
EU is also making some changes towards this, and I even saw reports they want to add something similar before accessing internet.
Someone created a github page listing of all Open Source Operating Systems that are implementing and not implementing Age Verification:
https://github.com/BryanLunduke/DoesItAgeVerifyPS
This is generally a question for theymos as admin of bitcointalk forum, but other members can join discussion.
Sounds stupid. Sounds retarded. The good thing is Linux is open source and there will be somebody somewhere who'll say fuck you to all the regulators a do their own thing without giving a fuck in the world.
Now the component part prices are skyrocketing, I am afraid in a few years it will be near impossible to replace our computers in a reasonable price. It probably makes sense to invest in some PC parts, maybe even some laptops (preferably not apple) that are still cheap and can run without much problems in the next 10 years.
Also download a few different linux distributions (ubuntu, mint, fedora, arch etc) as these freaks can go full retard and wage war against the open source developers any time. It is not the first time they jailed devs. They can do it again and they are experts at finding excuses.
It is so disgusting that almost every web page I visit has a giant cookie banner and I have been adding those web components to my ublock origin ignore list. This is a display of power. They are signaling: "We own you." It is time to show some resistance and tell them to go fuck themselves.
