but if I am asked to participate in creating a theme for the forum, I am ready, whether through a Chrome extension or separate theme code.
You no really need to wait until they invite you to take part in theme creation, you can just go ahead and build an extension by yourself. We go like test am first to see how interesting and attractive e go be. If you fit do this then I believe say through you we go fit see new themes for the forum.

but it was just a joke to express the contradiction between the idea of the dollar and the idea of Bitcoin.
This was mainly a small April 1st prank just to have some fun. Quite a number of people were actually surprised during the whole joke and I even noticed that some people, not really understanding what was going on, went ahead to create topics about it.

I made mine bitcoin-orange themed but in a way that's easy on the eyes. Well, the best I could get it, lol.

I'm so used to the default forum look. I promise you, even though stuff like this is fun to mess around with, the majority of the people here would tinker with it for shits-n-giggles and reset it to default lest their eyes start to water. It's a text based forum, and aside from a browser-settings enabled dark mode, it's color pallet is simple in nature for a reason.

This is what mine looks like using an already existing extension: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5570939.0
Images posted in thumbnail format so as to not take up a stupid amount of space in the thread.

Here are the color settings I chose. Unfortunately, even though it displays hexadecimal format with your chosen color, you can't actually edit the #RRGGBB values individually. You kinda just have to eyeball it by playing with the sliders in the UI. I'll probably ask Vod if he thinks adding manual editing of the hex code numbers is on the table at some point. Don't wanna bother him with it now, b/c the extension is in the middle of being applied to the Chrome extension store. I'm logged in on two separate browsers, one that supports extensions and one that I use the majority of the time. That way, if I feel like having a change of pace I can just hop to the secondary browser and go nuts with the colors:

This looks cool.
I would love to play around with creating themes.
It would be better if we could add our custom hex value and also save a custom theme locally.

Should we be expecting a permanent update that includes multiple theme options under the Current theme setting?

I don't remember when or where this was mentioned, but there are valid reasons why it's not possible to edit/change the forum's default theme.

At the time the forum was created, and the underlying software used, the layout was intertwined with the forum's operational code. Well, unlike what is done today in web development, where the layout almost never interacts with the functional code of a website.

Since the forum software was customized for security reasons and more, creating a new theme would involve replicating all those changes twice. This means that any future updates or adjustments would have to be done in duplicate to truly guarantee complete security across both themes. This scenario generated duplicate maintenance work and duplicate potential failures.

Furthermore, if I'm not mistaken, this active functionality could also be an entry point for some kind of attack on the forum, due to the very underlying system used by the forum.

Therefore, for security reasons, this function is disabled, and there is no option to change the theme.

Changing the color for a day isn't difficult because it's managed internally and has a short duration, avoiding future maintenance.

In short, for security reasons, we maintain the traditional theme of our forum, allowing you to have a continuous experience from the first day the forum was created.

Thought as much. It's a fair point, though.

That means the option to do that has been there all along, and I wasn't just noticing it? My initial thought was to find a way to disable it on April Fools Day before noticing it, so I wasn't sure if it was there before or not.

I'm going to try Pulse anyway, and see if it works just fine for multiple themes, but currently the script from mcdouglasx still works just fine for me, just that it's only the dark theme, although I added an additional patch.

Yes, it has always been there.
It is a native function of the software used by the forum. It was only deactivated for security reasons.

There are reports that some hackers were able to use these kinds of functions to enter forums. Therefore, it is best not to be active

Thanks for the explanation, I just made some research here and verified myself on how the whole dissablingthing works . I also found some vulnerabilities like the CVE-2008-6544 and more that was recorded for a lot of versions.

I'm  going to give up on it now since I know the main reason for dissabling it. Vod already submitted their extension to the Mozilla store , so I will wait for it to get added so I can install it for my browser.
