After an epic double-fight Bivol Vs Beterbiev, first won by Beterbiev and the rematch won by Bivol, many speculated that we could see a third, deciding fight between those two, but it's not happening anytime soon.
It was recently announced that Dmitrii Bivol's next fight will be against IBF mandatory challenger - Michael Eifert.

Eifert is a German boxer with 13-1 record. He's currently aged 28, so seven years younger than Bivol.

I don't know what the odds will be for that fight, but I expect Bivol to be a huge favourite. Especially knowing that the fight will take place in Russia, Bivol's home ground.

Yeah, very interesting that Bivol will come out after a long hiatus and fight a no-name fighter. Maybe he is in the top 5 of any division not sure though. But I do agree that this could be a a tune up fight for Bivol. He needs to shake up that ring rust first and maybe go after a trilogy with Beterbiev.

Beterbiev though is the older of the two and that defeat shows that father time is catching up with him. But if he wants to have that one last big fight with a huge paycheck, then he should look for a 3rd fight.

No odds for this fight yet. It was reported that this fight will be in the under card Oleksandr Usyk V Rico Verhoeven. But now it will be it's own card.

Michaele Eifert is rank number 1 by the IBF, and number 6 by IBF, two of Bivol's belt he held. So I don't think that this is a tune up fight as this could be mandated by the governing body themselves to fight Eifert specially IBF. So it's not going to be easy sailing for Bivol here as Eifert won't be the number 1 if he hasn't had a good resume. Here's their boxing records:

As a casual boxing fan, I was not very familiar with Eifert. I watched some highlights of his fight. He has a heart, but he doesn't seem like a top-class fighter.
I don't think Bivol took this fight because of fear of getting stripped of the IBF belt. Refusing mandatory defences are common in professional boxing. He could have gone for a higher profile fight (i.e. the trilogy against Beterbiev) and reclaim the belt later, but I read Bivol underwent a back surgery, meaning he must've had some period of inactivity in which he wasn't able to train, so it makes sense for him to have an easier fight first, before meeting again against Beterbiev.
So I agree with Bisdak's assessment of it being a tune-up fight.

Same here I am not that familiar with Eifert but he is 28 and a challenger with strong resume, Bivol is amazing and I don't think the first Beterbiev was a fair call regardless he has Bivol has been seasoned boxer and he is highly experienced.
Russia as the stage for the match will give Bivol home advantage but that won't count when blows starts landing on your face. I will love to say it will be a tough fight but I will have to go check out Eifert fights and see the stuff he is made off.

Eifert is good, but not good enough for Bivol. He is slow, and his defense is not that solid. I don't think he can do what he did to all his opponents, and he has never faced a tough opponent like Bivol has faced
This is going to be a mismatch, but I still like to see it because of Bivol's long layoff

The purpose of this match is to heats up him before a tougher game. Once he's ready with his condition, we will be seeing him to fight Beterbiev.

However, i have heard that the winner between him vs Eifert has already ordered by WBO to face the winner from Callum Smith V David Morrell. So we won't see him to face Beterbiev anytime soon.

Yes, Bivol will have a getting back into fighting condition here. It's a good test for him as Eifert is young and even if he is below Bivol, he could pose a threat but Bivol could easily win this fight.

Either fighter, Bivol can easily beat them. Interested to see him fight Morrell. As what we have seen, Morrell fought David Benavidez, but he just fell short. So still a good boxer and again, it will be a big test for Bivol but the volume punching of Bivol will be a nightmare for this two boxers.

Artur Beterbiewv's team is not overly happy about having to wait for a possible trilogy fight and accuses Bivol's team of stalling it, to take advantage of Artur not being the youngest one (he's 41 years old).
The quote from Marc Ramsay, Beterbiev's coach:
“They are trying to wait until Artur is 100 years old! This is what they are trying to do right now and I’m not surprised at all, but I don’t know what is going to happen.”

I think the best scenario would be for Beterbiev to also have a fight before the third fight with Bivol. Per the quoted article, they tried to book him against either Najee Lopez or Deon Nicholson, but it never came into fruition.

But we all know that's often due to cherry-picking opponents by managers to purposely build up inflated records that make fighters look like they are some sort of boxing prodigies. One of such boxers that comes to mind is Malik Zinad, who was 22-0 with vast majority KO wins before he crossed paths with Bivol and he got absolutely destroyed.
It's possible that Eiffert's manager didn't want to artificially inflate his record and was accepting fights against skilled boxers, but I'm not deep enough into boxing to recognise any fighters he fought against.

The only fighter that he beat was Jean Pascal, whom Bivol also beat by unanimous decision. Jean Pascal is their common opponent.
Pascal was a fading fighter when  Eifert beat him. Looking at the other fighters he beat, they are not notable or impressive, so skill and power-wise, Bivol has the edge. It's a long shot that Eifert will beat Bivol, but this is boxing, where an upset is not impossible.

That's for sure, I'm not a fan of Bivol and Eifert, but I've often watched them both in the ring, but of the two I've seen Bivol more often, rather than Eifert, I'm not saying Eifert isn't good, yes they're both good.

However, in my personal opinion, if we talk about the boxing duel between Bivol vs. Eifert I have more than 80% confidence in Bivol, you could say he is an elite boxer and he has a lot of experience in boxing. In my opinion, this duel is a duel and a tough test for Eifert, I am sure this is a duel that will mutually maintain their position to continue in the world of boxing.

Bivol last fight was against Beterbiev, and this was in February 2025. Michael Eifert's last fight was on August 24, 2024, where he defeated Carlos Eduardo Jimenez by 2nd-round TKO.
Both fighters are on long layoffs, so it will come down to the fighters' conditioning, inherent skills and power and between the two, Bivol has a huge advantage.
I consider this a cherry-picked fight or preparation for his third fight against Beterbiev.

Right, but it seems that Bivol is not keen on the trilogy, he needs this tune up fight to and see how it goes. So Beterbiev has no choice if he is ready right now but to wait. Maybe after this fight, he should watch this fight and go in the canvass and talk to his fellow Russians to ask for a trilogy. So that Bivol will be force as he will be in the spotlight as fans is going to see his reaction. Hopefully, there will be no derail on the part of Eifert, just play the part that he is just a tune up fight and then lose and earn some decent money. As fans, maybe some of us would be interested to watch this fight. Personally, I'll will just wait for the result in the news and watch the highlight in Youtube.
