The only solution to this oil crisis to stop, when ever big players in the world oil and gas sector have crisis like this is so countries to have their oil refined in their homeland, especially the countries which are oil producers. Because if a country can produce their oil by themselves I don't think that the effects will be much stronger like this. Even though the raw oil will be imported it will be better to refine locally.

Producing oil ain't as easy like you said. Any countries have different production capacity. Their tech also matter a lot to process the oil. Some oil needs special process, which can be done only in the developed countries such as US. It's not all of countries have oil sources too.

Producing is very complicated to do. It's involving very very long process. It's not like you just turn up the drill and pump oil from the earth as many as you can.

If producing oil as simple as pumping it with your drill. I believe all of countries would do that by themselves.

I don’t think that what Mate is actually saying is about production or drilling of crude oil which is obviously not an easy thing but what is said is about refining this crude oil and processing them in their own country and no matter how easy it is, not all countries can actually produce it because not all country have crude oil as natural resources.

If a country can actually produce crude oil or drills it then they have the capacity to actually set up their own refineries too for that. Take for example the case study of Nigeria they produces large amount of crude oil but do not have functioning refinery in the country with all refining done in the US which is bad. My country is still safe for oil stocks until the deadline that has been determined until December 2026, for now there is no increase for any type of oil.

The government is still willing to subsidize fuel oil for the time being, even though world oil has to be purchased at $107 per barrel, but that is not an obstacle to oil shortages at this time.

I'm typing this with shame cause am from am oil producing country but were heavily affect by the oil hike cause our government is fucked up and we don't refine our own oil but export from other oil producing countries. Because everything is getting affected because of it, while some retailers are increasing rates on their own, while the government rates are still unchanged but upon asking, sellers say they are getting it expensive, so they have to sell expensive.

Anyway, petrol prices are unbearable here, like the rates have been increased even more than they are in Uk or other developed countries. Wages are still unchanged while inflation is affecting every single person right now, whether they are earning $100 or $1000 per month.

- reduce the likelihood of behavior such as “I'll buy a year's supply in advance, just to have a buffer,” which leads to a shortage of that commodity, namely fuel.

No fuel limit doesn't work in that way, so you get as much petrol as you want. The government will usually develop an app or something, and then they will limit how much fuel any person can take in a certain period, like a month, etc. So this measure is taken so that, despite the increase in fuel prices, people with a lot of money shouldn't keep stocking up on fuel and this will also create a balance between the rich and the poor, so the rich won't have the advantage here.

In my country, there were rumors of the government starting this fuel limit system, but they aren't able to develop a system or mechanism on how to put an individual petrol cap on every citizen, and due to this, this system hasn't been implemented till now.

I mean there are busses and trains and metros etc in many nations, which is why it is not really that much to consider transportation to work should cost a lot. I know that there are nations who prefer cars.

Fuel is very important for every country because almost 90% of the products that were using today are also processed through fuel, what I actually mean here is that petroleum is very important because it's determined  how the economy of a nation will favor their citizens, immediately the fuel rises everything in our Society start to increase because all those things were transported by use of fuel and once the fuel price go up a lot of things changes.

In my own country some people are blaming our government for making thing happening like this, because they all believe the fault is from him but not knowing that they were affected globally. We're all hoping that the war shall end soon, when the peace talks have been reported and both parties are negotiating about it. It brought joy temporary to the world not until the announcement from JD Vance that there's no negotiation that have happened and they can't just give it to the Iran. That broke the happiness that many are hoping for the end of this war. The oil that's being transported and passes through their Strait has affected so many economies globally. Then you're in luck (at least as far as this year is concerned), but that's how it is everywhere where politicians try to portray themselves as socially sensitive. In my country, they have a different tactic - first they let the prices go wild, then they appear as saviors and introduce price restrictions and say something like "if it weren't for us, you would pay 5 cents or 10 cents more for fuel".

Or perhaps it's not because they have political initiatives, but because their election budgets are truly slim? The last election in my country (2024) had the largest budget in our history. After all, this volatility in gasoline prices is beyond the scope of any country's annual budget. The government should be smart enough to reallocate budgetary plans, especially since they're in the midst of welcoming a national event.

This is why if you do renewable energy yourself, then you will need a lot less oil. Doesn't mean that you will not need any, you will need some, but imagine a nation that uses renewable energy for EVERYTHING that doesn't require oil, it would be a lot better for that nation. This is what I have suggested before, and I think it's true in this case as well.

You would not even need that much solar panels, the logistics is the problem, the ability to get energy from sun is easy, the ability to transfer that energy to homes is the hard part and we are failing at that to make it more mass available. If we can make sure to find a way to make that cheaper, then oil will not be needed as much as it is needed right now and we will do a lot better.
