Reduction of work hours: Countries like the Philippines and Pakistan have introduced a four-day work period.
This is true but it only applies to the government workers. But for the private sector, they're still the same and they are free to adjust or not their working days. The first step that our government did was giving $100 worth of subsidies directly to the transport sector, to the drivers. But, most of it are known that they'll not spend it on the fuel. So despite with that help, it's just a one thing help done and we're on our own again. Much better if the government subsidizes it directly to the fuel companies so that every driver and commuter that fuels up will have that discount.

i am not very aware of what is the deal in this Malampaya Gas field we have in Palawan, but this is a gas source we have in our country. rumor was that only 10% is given to the Philippine government and 90% belongs to someone else like the Indonesian, Chinese businessman and some Europeans. we wouldn't have a huge issue with gas if the contract in this project if leaders aren't compromised.
I agree, if that facility is utilized well. Then, we won't be having this crisis because we can be self sustaining and not just there, there are a lot of areas where can be drilled and take the oil out of it. The recent is about the deal with China in the joint oil exploration in the West Philippine Sea and what China calls it is the South China Sea. However it is called, this is actually a good deal IMO but there are a huge entities that stops that from happening because there's a big money that's involved in it. I hope that whoever gets to decide there will think of the welfare of the people.

in our village today, only those who own electric trike roams on the streets, seem like its their time to really dominate the wide lanes.
I'm near to think of owning an e-trike but that would cost me some money that I am not yet willing to spend. Fortunately, there are gas stations near me and I'll just use my good old motorcycle.

Unfortunately, the current government in my country is not highly focused on coming up with best solutions to combat the rising price of oil, but everyone is busy preparing for their political moves just to prevent someone from becoming a new leader in my country.

Obviously, this does not help at all. While other countries are into solving the problem and providing assistance to their citizens, my country is up with impeachment, leaving the citizens struggling to survive from the crisis on their own.

You just spoke about almost the same thing that is happening in my country. The government has not come up with any programme to alleviate the suffering of the masses. Petrol price has increased and other commodities have also gone up.

Next year is an election, so they are busy strategising on means to grab power. We are hoping to see them make policies that will help reduce the effects of this war.

I don't really care how countries deal with it but I can explain how "I" can deal with the damn thing.

It is not rocket science. I invest in oil companies. Not anymore though, I bought them when nobody wanted. I bought them when people said:

"Oil is gonna diee, electric vehicles are tha futah!"

"Investing in oil? heff fun staying poor nub"

"Oil is evil, don't invest in oil. Invest in wind mills"

While I am collecting huge dividends and sitting on even bigger unrealized gains, these woketurds are crying about the energy prices. Good for them. Keep being retarded.

"Get woke, go broke" -John D. Rockefeller, Standard Oil.

I just watch youtube about EV car sales could soar because of this.

If we discussed about current situation in my country Similar to Malaysia and Thailand, Indonesia government has just released WFH regulations for Public Servant. The government projects this measure could save around Rp6.2 trillion in fuel subsidies and reduce household spending by up to Rp59 trillion. The private sector is also encouraged to participate in this flexible work pattern. So covid era is here.

Despite soaring global oil prices, President Prabowo has instructed that there will be no increase in the price of subsidized fuel for the time being. The government is preparing a B50 policy, which is planned to be implemented on July 1, 2026, to reduce diesel imports.

In my own country Nigeria, we are facing same problem. Even if our country is oil producing country, we are still suffering for fuel scarcity and high prices , because we are depending on imported refined fuel. As global oil price has rise, fuel price in my country has also increase and this has affected transportation, electricity and cost of living.
To manage the situation governments had try some things like removing or reducing fuel subsidy but this has lead to higher pump prices and public concern. However, currently people are looking for means to survive. many people have stop going out with their cars to save money. They end up entering bike, keke, or even trekking to cut expenses.

Obviously, there is currently a struggle for resources on the global stage, and the United States is openly demonstrating its desire to gain dominant positions in this. It is clearly visible and quite obvious quite recently, there was their expansion into Venezuela. Now they are trying to do the same with Iran, but it is obvious that this time it will not be so easy for them. Iran is putting up strong resistance, and this is affecting many countries, where fuel prices are rising first and will subsequently impact all other sectors.

What's happening in your country?
There will be one day of WFH every week starting this April, and you mentioned my country, so it will only be a four-day work a week.
However, this is only for certain fields that allow WFH.
Actually, there were also plans to implement online learning, but this was opposed by many because it could reduce the quality of education.
I think there will be a better solution to the rising fuel prices, but it seems it will take time to formulate the right solution.

I will talk about my country which I don't know if it is an exception or some other countries facing the same situation. I live in an arabic country in North Africa, which is not an oil producer. The local production batrely satisfy 30% of the national need, so the government imports its needs from neighboring countries oil producers. Beside this, oil is government-subsidized and the subsidy budget is determined annually in the state budget for the new year. Which means the citizens consume the oil whose price was determined last year. As the global prices are getting higher, the government is responsible to fund the price difference without until next annual budget negotiations for next year. Note that we are not a big population, and not that industrial big country to need that much oil consumption.

In ASEAN, as far as I know, my country, Indonesia, has not seen an increase in fuel prices, while some countries, such as Malaysia, have experienced price hikes.

Regarding Indonesia, workers—particularly civil servants who receive salaries from the government—have indeed been asked to work from home one day per week.
The reason is clear: to save costs, and this must be understood, even though public services have also faced challenges, despite the fact that nearly everything is now handled digitally.

If the conflict continues, we can imagine what our fate will be, as we are not yet prepared to return to the days of the past when we could survive without the technology we have today.

That is good for people of Indonesia that fuel prices are not increased, despite so much increase in oil price in international market. Here in my country (Pakistan) there is significant increase in price of patrol and diesel due to this increase there is increase in price of everything sold in the  market. Government has taken some measures to decrease consumption of oil like schools were closed in month of march and now government employees are advised to come to office on alternate days, despite such measures government still has increased price of patrol.
Sometimes decisions must be made, and as citizens who understand the situation and circumstances, we do not view them as policies that harm the people.
The fact that fuel prices have not risen in my country is certainly something we are grateful for, but I realize that this situation will not last long if the countries in conflict still show no signs of ending the war.

For those who think that living far from the Middle East means they won’t be affected, recent events have proven that even from a distance, the impact is still felt.

Those countries who do not import oil are doing relatively well. It’s been reported that in South Korea, their gas prices are extremely low compared to ours. We also import oil from them so the gas prices in my country are off the roof and are not seeing any signs of improvement.

I think my opinion is as follows while i watch this situation from a distance, i am truly concerned because when oil prices rise everything else gets more expensive. I think, although short term subsidies and tax cuts from governments provide relief to the public they are not sustainable in the long term.
So why is it this way? Because constant subsidies strain the budget and may delay the transition to renewable energy. In my opinion, i think the more rational approach would be to both provide direct support to low income households in the short term and accelerate investment. For example, instead of making public transportation free, support it by targeting fare structures and at the same time invest in solar and electric vehicle infrastructure. I think this approach should be adopted because planned and targeted policies both protect the public and secure the future. Wouldn't this way both preserve the budget balance and reduce long term dependency  Huh

The Nigerian government and its current economic system plans to navigate this current situation by;
Fiscal Strategy and budget adjustments like budget expansion, management of its revenue, maintaince of current market Pricing, transitioning to CNG use and more of reliance on domestic refining of crude products.

However there's economic risks and challenges being faced currently like pressures of current Inflation, rising cost of production with squeezed margins, and the broader macroeconomic paradox which is affected.

Free or subsidied transportation: ...In the Philippines, the government is subsidizing transport services.

But the subsidy only lasts a few days; the drivers' call is for the government to cut the value-added tax and other taxes imposed on oil, and to regulate the oil industry so they can stop excessive profiteering by the gasoline companies.

The government of the Philippines is not really addressing the oil crisis; they release good news that more oil is coming, but the price of oil and other related products keeps increasing daily.

Work from home: Malaysia, Thailand, Egypt, and Indonesia are asking workers to work from home because it would help to reduce fuel consumption.

Is this effective? Remote work was not welcomed by many employers, as they can not control their employees. How much will it really help, if the problem is not in fuel consumption but in its cost. If I have stayed at home and work remotely, It does not mean I have reduced fuel consumption, I burn that fuel next time I need to drive somewhere. Imo it looks like "want to have more money, dont spend them" kind of advice.

From the impact of the US and Iran war, it affects many countries, because the Strait of Hormuz is very important for the crossing of world trade goods, while the role of getting heated up, this is a threat to the dwindling oil supply.

In my country...
Working from home is right on Friday and the government has announced it.
The government did not increase fuel prices, so the government is still subsidizing.
Many people are switching to EVs and mobile hybrids which are said to be economical.

I don't know the future situation, whether the fuel price will be increased or not it may depend on how long the war lasts.

Almost all countries in the world are directly and indirectly affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Countries that buy oil from the Middle East are under a lot of pressure. Especially those that do not have much capacity to reserve. It is not yet possible to predict how long this war will last. Since Iran is not afraid of America's warnings in any way, it should not be expected that this war will stop very quickly. Almost everyone now knows that an unstable environment is going to be created in the whole world. Those who can predict this in advance and conduct activities accordingly will be able to reduce the amount of damage. But those who have not taken any precautions yet and are acting without a plan according to their own decision will definitely face big losses. If the Middle East does not stabilize quickly, it will be difficult to survive with caution.

I hope that whoever gets to decide there will think of the welfare of the people.

it would be costly to explore if our government do it alone and we don't have the equipment to build infrastructure in the middle of the ocean.  and making partners is easiest but their cuts will be the issue because again our leaders. plus US will keep intervening the developments we have in our country.

arroyo tried it with the Chinese after all they can build it for us but US will keep stopping and even demonize China for it.  US offers to develop but who gets the better cut makes it difficult and they wanted it to be a public company which more than likely we will not own the gas project in the end.

Iran is allowing Philippines to pass through the strait though and Russia is also supplying us. there might not be shortage but the prices might still be what is it now.

There are funny suggestions from a congressman of our country that people should limit when they full tank. If they don't need it for this day, they shouldn't have their tanks full. A funny thing that these politicians don't really know what they're saying because they are not experiencing the hardship of a normie. What they know is that their pockets are full in this crisis and that money has come from the taxes of the people. These are being voted in position to help people have a better life but it seems that the people are helping them to have the better life.

The government of the Philippines is not really addressing the oil crisis; they release good news that more oil is coming, but the price of oil and other related products keeps increasing daily.
They even said that even it's allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, when these supplies have come it won't automatically reduce the oil prices. Crazy governance.

Good research has been done to slightly eliminate this fuel hybrid, but it will not be possible in reality because for those who have to physically participate in the office and work, it will become very messy to do office work at home instead of going to the office. However, it will be more problematic for those who travel by transport. In short, the fuel crisis is a global problem that needs to be solved very carefully. If the global crisis war does not stop, then this problem will not be solved, that is, to solve this problem, the world will have to work together.
