I'm starting this thread inspired by discussions I saw here about socializing in casinos.

I just wanted to give more attention to the matter of having the opportunity to have a chat with your dealer in a casino, both online and offline.

As you can guess, dealers have strict rules they can follow so they can't talk just about anything in most casinos. But having Smalltalk is actually even encouraged for them. This is actually something nice you can do so don't be shy. It helps break the very repetitive routine of a dealer so if you're a talker throw in some words. Say hi, ask them how they're doing, what they like etc. They're encouraged to have something to say if asked and if they seem to like it be sure you're making your dealers day better.

Topics that are verboten are religion, sex, addiction, politics and discriminatory/disparaging comments. But you can have some classy discussions even with these rules. Or if you want to skip Smalltalk you can also stay on topic and compliment them on their dealing style. Always nice for someone to notice this.

I agree, for a person who wants to talk, it's good way to even a small chat to those dealers or even anyone who work on the place, not just for the dealer. For many hours they are doing repeatedly, for sure they will appreciate such small talks and friendly greetings. But for a person like me who is not so talkative or not even a conversation starter, i guess it will be different. lol

Can we get better if we communicate with the dealer? That's something I never do because I focus more on the game and don't care about the surroundings, maybe I'm too egotistical to do something like that and my social skills are very poor, because I think talking and not talking will not change the results of the bets I make, so I choose to be quiet.

But it's much more fun if the dealer starts the interaction with the player in front of him first, I don't think this is necessary for us, but for the dealers themselves to at least be able to initiate a noisy round.

Back when I was playing on live games,,, they had those gameshows like Monopoly, hundreds of users in chat.

And it was hard to talk, so many of them were inappropriate,,, and you actually feel sad for the host who is asked to do all kinds of nonsense for the chat. Some had to dance even,,, made me really feel bad in a way.

I agree however if you can chat with some lonely dealers it gives them something to look forward to Just be nice and chat like you would do in real life

I agree because sometimes a little greeting won't cost you nothing or anything but can change the atmosphere or the mood of the person, even with showing of basic respect you wii notice that at the end such person you show how polite and respectful you are willing naturally treat you well too. Sometimes with a simple hi and a touch of little smile can light up a place and it will feel less tensed and comfortable for everyone. Kindness always goes round

You are going to the casino for your own personal benefit, not for someone else. The smile and cheerfulness will lighten the environment for everyone, but it wont change the outcome of your bet for good.

That being said, if you believe the law of karma exists. Then it is possible that your simple greeting can shift the mood of someone to a positive mood. It will cost nothing, and it will bring good fortune back to you.

Well, you will know if they are willing to have a conversation if you started it and you will get a response. But if not, let them be. When you start a conversation to anyone, be mindful of their feelings. If they are not ready, leave them alone. Not all people are willing to talk to other people.
Inside the physical casino, it may seem people are busy with their own games, but more than likely, someone needs a small talk coming from a stranger. But you need to be aware of your surroundings and be alert with it.

Yes, I simply hi won't hurt any, so it's better to converse with them, at least make the mood of the night lightly. Especially in land base casinos wherein there are a lot of players in a table in a black jack so there will be lot of small talks about everything under the sun.

Not sure for introvert though who gambles, maybe they are just focus on the game and doesn't want to talk to the dealer, so we understand that. But for us, we do love to chit chat regardless of the sex of the dealer.

Dealers are just normal people doing their job, so a simple hi or small talk can make their day a bit better. Their work can be very repetitive, so a little conversation can help break that routine. You don’t have to say anything serious, just simple things like asking how they’re doing or even complimenting how they handle the game is enough. At the end all it does is to just make the whole experience feel more friendly instead of cold and mechanical.

This is a good tip that also makes the game more lively and engaging amongst all participants and the dealer. It is nice because it just has its way of putting everyone in the game on the right track, so they are a bit free and do not put them in a state of panic or confusion, as it is when a player begins to lose games serially. Dealers are just normal people doing their job,

And in the end of the day its important to br courtious even if you dont want to chat.

Personally I havent chatted with the dealers in the past but I would always - win or lose
say hi, bye and thank you at the very least. I guess I was trying very hard to concentrate
on the game and trying not to get distracted and making a mistake. I have seen players
getting very chatty with the dealers and I often wondered if they dont make mistakes?

Yes. I am in support of o small talks like this and besides it is just a nice thing to do that shows the other person that you see and acknowledge them no matter whatever position that they are in. It may be something that may brighten their day. However, also read the room if they feel hesitant to hold the small talk, don’t force it. Just do what you are there for.

Some gamblers have this habit in offline dealers and I think this is not bad. When you have little talk with dealer and become friendly with them, you build a bond of friendship and certain benefit or privilege can be allowed for you.

Although to have talk with online casino dealers is good but it may not go above just an overture that will keep the dealer lively afterwards. But surely, it doesn't influence the outcome of the game

If you go to evolution tables online and play blackjack it'll be hard to say hi to the dealer as half the time they are barely awake lol. Live tables in real life are much more interactive though.

This is hilarious! It’s true and I experienced it many times that dealers are sleeping even on the middle of dealing cards. I share this before on some casino thread that I’m playing.

The painful part about this sleepy dealer is when you place bet and they sleep mid way of dealing cards which you don’t have any way to wake her up or leave the table since there’s a bet at play. I think I waited more than 15 mins for that dealer to wake up.

I can’t be angry that time because I knew there’s an issue against evolution gaming dealer being under pay despite having a graveyard shift.

They probably need to rotate the dealers more often and keep the blood flowing so the dealers aren't getting bored outta their heads and getting more tired by the minute. It's probably a boring job as they are just staring at a screen that tells them when a player did an action and what action it was.

Interacting with dealers online is hard as well for other reasons. There's hundreds of players trying to interact at the same time on some live game like crazy time. Hundreds of complainers making the dealer less likely to respond. Also the language barrier where the dealer barely speaks English or comprehends what I might be saying makes me not wanna chat.

This is actually a reminder that those are real people with emotions and feelings behind the table, not just some robot of something..
It's not about having a serious conversation, just as little as "how are you today" might make someone feel brighter,

It's all about basic awareness and respect, even as you enjoy your game understand this simple things

Thats actually polite to speak qith the dealer like their your peers or friends. Also being nice to them may signal you some tips which ( isnt allowed) well depends on how you treat them. As a player surely everyones goal is to win and just focus on the game and potential move. But being friendly on the dealers wouls have a very smooth feeling while playing. I always greet them with very pleasant apporach and also dont forget to tip them especially if I won some good profits.

For sure, but this applies to everyone in their staff and every staff everywhere actually. Not that you should try small talk (because not everyone is even into that), but show respect and show that you don't treat staff like lesser human beings.

You don't even need to be all altruistic about it, as you can think it as an investment. Good deeds and good behavior take very small amount of effort but can help people, so it's easier for them to pay it forward to society. Like they will act out when their life sucks.  I've once seen people treat their dealers poorly. Not by ignoring, but actively just because they can. And even though i stepped in and let them know about it, i still sometimes think the reason behind them acting out. I am pretty sure that people who treat others poorly and are aware how badly they behave, do it so because their life sucks in some way.

As much as this is a good idea, I don't also see it as what gamblers can make as a commitment to do, because most of us are more concentrated on how we can gamble and play our games to have fun and not to make use of our time on chatting with the dealers of a casino, that is why even though we do all this thing, it does not change the condition that we will still get penalized for violating any rules.

I myself have a habit of staying quiet rather than talking, especially to new people. Even in the online world, I'm the same, so I don't do it. Even though it's possible, I don't think I'll do it. Furthermore, I don't think there are any dealers who directly serve their players, whether offline or online. As an online player, I like to find live chat features online, and there was indeed a name of someone who served me, but I don't think it was a dealer, just a staff member or maybe a bot.

OK thank you for the 'life 101' lesson   I think it is worth pointing out also that online dealers with chat function is there for people to,,, chat You definitely will get a 'start' from the dealer who will start small chat, but in rare cases you get those who really want to converse and not endless good luck hello where you from etc

I still think I would like to try physical one day,,, I believe if I go I will expect strangers to chat, and myself too or is that just the movies

People who dont say hi to dealer or to someone who provide them service are impolite. If you are not used to "hi-how-are-you?" then dont expect that person will be more friendly and helpful to you. A person with a smile on a face (even if it is fake) is much better than see neutral expression. Imho, if game starts with a smile, you will feel more relaxed, entertained, encouraged during game. Be kind to people and they will be kind to you.

Yes I agree that just saying hi can lighten up the mood between dealers and players to have a relaxed atmosphere while on the table, a smile can release a tensed mood so it is good to be polite and friendly. Aside from being friendly letting the dealers to share in your good fortunes when you win is a also a good thing, they will feel a part of your success. Aside from gambling it is always good to be friendly and generous to people who are serving us either a waiter or a street sweeper, saying hi and encouraging them with a tip sometimes will go a long way to make them feel happy.
