What ever you have been doing for years , and their is no positive outcome, I think you have to quit from it. Addiction is a serious problem, but unfortunately, those who are addicted often will not pay attention to advice or counsel like what Op mentioned, because their minds are completely dominated by what they are addicted to.
Proper treatment and professional parties are needed to handle this, because advice alone is not enough, especially if the addiction is quite severe.

I agree with you, those who are very much addicted to gambling at this point don't really want to listen to anyone's advice. It is very difficult to get them out of gambling addiction by advice only; of course, they need family support and a professional psychiatrist, because they have already lost control over themselves. I don't engage in anything that brings regret. I was addicted to a behaviour behaviour behaviour which was harming my health. It was very difficult to stop it because I was used to it. But weighing the consequences with the pleasure I derived, I had to choose to quit. It was not easy but I did all I could including moving to another location.  Gambling is not the only form of entertainment. If it is hurting a person's income, there is a need to seek professional help if you are finding it difficult to abstain.

I’ve had my own experience back in the university. One may not understand how dark the consequences of gambling can be until they find themselves in that situation. Those moments were filled with distractions, emotional stress, financial losses, and missed opportunities. Once things are not going well, it becomes very easy to notice clear changes in your behaviour. It took me only one day to decide that I do not have the kind of luck I once admired in other gamblers. The best solution that worked for me was channelling my energy into my studies, football, and religious activities on campus.

Gamblers going through this situation now need to realise that their lives are in a mess. Once they realise this, they can then make the decision to do something meaningful with their lives. If they have not yet realised the damage being done to them, it will be difficult for them or anyone else to address it.

Gambling is mainly for entertainment, it is not right to choose gambling with the mentality of earning money, as a result, the dangers of gambling can destroy life. For now, the way I gamble, it doesn't affect me negatively, at least not in my life. But it is true that I face losses many times, and facing losses is not a happy thing for anyone. But here gambling is mainly a matter of entertainment, so I use such an amount that the loss does not have a big impact on my financial situation. You've only spoken so well meaningful for those who're actually in need to hear this but I fear that it may be a wasted effort because gamblers who had made up their mind on how they want to treat gambling will still remain ignorant even after seeing this post.
Moreover when it comes to addiction it's very difficult for a victim to be able to readjust their nuisances life in gambling by reading therapists through texts. Some will even physically ask you to fvck off when your advisory statements begins to itch their emotions.

Op,  I have seen one thing you said 100%, it has happened in my life, most of the bets I have taken in my life have been lost but still I could not completely remove myself from gambling. I should have come out of gambling a long time ago but I could not because sometimes I have won in gambling bets and I got encouragement from winning once or twice and later I continued to gamble for this little encouragement.
But if I had calculated how much I have lost and how much I have gained in my life, it would have been clear that I could not take 10% of my losses and profit in my bets. Then I would have understood how much I have lost by gambling in my life. In fact, if we had not bet and had saved that money in an account, then maybe I could have done something with that money to change my life. But alas, I could not explain that to my brain.

Gambling addiction is a serious problem, especially since I have already encountered someone who I considered to be addicted to gambling, and the worst part is, it's my family member.
In my honest opinion, handling a person like this is really stressful; it will affect you mentally, too. Since I am into gambling too, but I'm on the "good" side, like responsible gambling, so yeah, everything that is "too much" is really not good.
 

Gambling addiction is a very serious problem, once one falls into this problem, he cannot recover easily. Although I have not handled any addicted gambler, I have seen some of the activities of addicted gamblers. I had a close friend who had an older brother who was very addicted to gambling and alcohol. At one point, he lost his job and was in financial crisis, and at that time he started selling his house and gambling with that money. And at one time, he kidnapped my friend because he found out that they had $5k in a crypto wallet.

I do agree with one thing though, people need to take action, writing things down, being honest about wins and losses, and reflecting on the impact, that’s solid advice, change really does start with awareness.

Bro, I saw a guy use his life savings, that's about $4800 to bet on a game with 1.1 odd and still loss, a game that was playing 80 minutes has many unexpected outcomes but because the team..was leading by 2:0. This guy decided play tricks by using his savings account just because of $480, he bet the game but the end of the game ended as 2:2 and he loss the money in the end, he was crying and begging the public to help him with unnecessary excuses.

If they should tell you what some people do with gambling, you will think there is a magical portion that was added to their life to be gambling in some unexplainable manners, they lack self control and take risk that at not good for them.
