To me, I feel gambling, and trading oil and gas are almost the same thing and are both risky. Trading requires high level of skill and good strategy for you to scale through. So even as a gambler, if you eventually venture into oil and gas trading, the same fate still awaits you there because you will still make losses. If you must join trading, you have to learn trading, acquire trading skill first, otherwise you fail. As for me, am not good at trading oil and gas and will find it very difficult to do that, unless on the ground that I will go and learn trading skills. For now, am into sports betting, though I don't record much profit. But I understand it better than oil and gas trading since I can research on team's stat and bet based on informed decision.
Saying that for now it's gambling you do rather than trading in the oil and gas resources seems an understatement to me because the fact that it's entangled with the same risks as the betting games or events doesn't entail that every gamblers must trade on the so oil and gas. Like you've highlighted, you can't apply your gambling skills to the oil and gas trading snd so also you can't used the oil snd gas trading skills for gambling because they're of different events. The relationship between both is that they're both risky and unpredictable.

Hey bitcointalk fam, Have you guys tried to flip Oil and Gas lately? Im addicted Same adrenaline, insane daily volatility… and if you spend at least 5 minutes per day do check what's going on in the world, you cant get it wrong Who’s trading it? The way you wrote it, it's more like "who's gambling", not who is trading... Or at least I feel that vibe. In any case, I wonder where we can have fun with Oil & Gas? Is it fiat, or is there a crypto platform for these things? And I wonder if it's like 5-minute trades, or if we can actually buy it and wait days/weeks before selling? I know I can do my own research, but since you brought it up, I would like to hear more from you. Trading oil can be more frustrating just like gambling does if not properly understandstood and knows the in and out on how to manage the chats. Some time ago someone introduced me to it, but little did I know that he himself was still a learner trying to figure out the safe methods of trading on the site. He encouraged me to invest something no matter how little. I told him to start first for one month for me to know how profitable it is.

Im addicted Same adrenaline, insane daily volatility… and if you spend at least 5 minutes per day do check what's going on in the world, you cant get it wrong Who’s trading it? This is why I say I believe that most people that are trading are not traders, they are only gambling, that's what they know the most and the only thing they understand. Well, trading oil is not bad, in fact it's not gambling if you know how to do it but if you know how to trade, you are going to make money from it provided that your leverage is moderate and it's not too high that will liquidate you so fast due to how the market works and the ongoing war. For safety sake, I will prefer other commodities for moderatr trade because over a month now since that war started, President Trump is manipulating the stock market making it look like everyone here to lose money. Today he says the war is over, the Strait of Hormuz has been opened only to wake up the next day that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, this things are manipulating the stock market because they moved fundamentally with the news.

This looks clean on paper until when you're in an active trade and Trump says something or Iran does something that makes the market react negatively against you. That's when you'd know that you can actually go wrong. I know for a fact that there's money to be made just longing and shorting based off fundamentals. I probably didn't because prior to the war, I haven't traded oil and then I saw the price go above $100 and never really jumped on that train.

Honestly I have never traded oil and gas. Nothing compares to gambling because no matter how volatile you trade something, it will never be as risky as gambling. In gambling, you can never make any guaranteed predictions and everything depends on luck, but in trading you can make many predictions and they will work. It is not good to get addicted to trading because even if you can make a profit, if you panic too much, you cannot hold on to those winnings.

Not only that, gambling is fun, it was designed for this purpose if you bet on oil and gas, they don't play a game and the winner wins in my opinion it is better to play with games like football, tennis and more than with resources
People are focused and looking for means to make money by staking their money, so if they see an opportunity in playing with oil and gas prices, they will take it and put some of their money in it. It's that simple for them; it's not about fun; it's entirely about what could multiply their money. Even when it's not guaranteed, as long as they see a higher chance of a winning rate, they will stake and forget about their passion for any other game.

It is not good to get addicted to trading because even if you can make a profit, if you panic too much, you cannot hold on to those winnings. In this time of oil crisis, many people may start oil business because recently they buy oil from filling stations and sell it outside, but it is being sold at a much higher price there. Maybe some people can do this work because those who have small businesses can do this work. I do not do this kind of work like you because now I may start a business by buying oil. If the oil market becomes normal, then the business may suffer losses because then people will not buy oil at a higher price. But here too I agree with you that there is no comparison between the oil business and gambling because gambling is a means of entertainment and people get entertainment from here in their free time. Gambling is not a means of earning money because to earn money from here, you have to put yourself in great danger because once you get addicted, that gambler cannot be controlled very easily, which results in his life being destroyed, not only his life but also his family.

Bro, it's easier said than done. This is the same thing with people think that trading is a good side hustle. But when they do the actuality of it, they're losing all their trades. It's not for everybody, newbies might give it a try but when they're not used to its volatility, they can't just do and profit with it. Even the experienced ones are having a hard time to read its charts and how it goes with the news. Anyone who would like to try it needs to accept the big risk it has got.

Some can also go to prediction markets if they are not familiar with trading. And they will already find a lot of betting lines in relation to our current oil crisis just like in polymarket or futuur. And with that, I believe, the OP is also promoting the site as when you check his sig - it is about Oil & Gas Trading with crypto. So hard to get actual answer about how much he already got as profits as he might be one of the owners of this site. Who knows? A lot are still not familiar with trading and so for some gamblers here, it is easier to bet via prediction markets. Just look at how much volume they are getting from this current situation in Iran. Do take note, we are only talking few betting lines here about Oil. There's still a long list of betting lines related to Iran-US war. https://polymarket.com/iran/oil

Both risks are involved but when done properly trading is more in control whereas gambling is more of luck and instant excitement.

So in a nutshell, that implies that while gambling is luck oriented, trading on the other hand is knowledge and skill oriented. Because just as a user who has never had knowledge about gambling can just walk into a casino and play a slot game and be lucky to hit a jackpot, a complete newbie with no trading skill can not walk into a trading platform and bet on a commodity and be privileged to win without proper knowledge about it's market analysis. So that's one exact reason why gambling seems o have the highest population than trading

I think the both of you where just been greedy well that was a very bold step you told by risk such huge amounts and your ends..

I dont know why trading oil or gas is compared to gambling. Take a look on oil or gas price chart. It isnt that volatile as crypto, nor give as much profit as risky bet. It is only this period of time its prices went up and down so much. Look at price between April 2025 and March 2026 (dont look at price after, it is an exception due to conflict in Iran). Price has been fluctuating between 62-65 bucks. That is only about 5% change. Similar to placing bets with odds around 1.05. That does not look interesting to me at all.

Exactly the same point I shared in my previous comment on this thread, there was no way trading oil and gas can or should be equated to gambling because both are not the same and cant give the same level of adrenaline as the op said, op is only saying something which I am very sure that he didn't even think deeply about to be sure whether it's the truth or not. Like you rightly pointed out, the war that broke out between Iran, Israel and the US has been the only reason why oil prices has been unstable, the back and forth opening and closing of the strait of hormuz has had major effects on the price of oil, of which we all know that the war won't last for ever, sooner than later, the war will likely end and every thing will return back to being normal again, by then, they price of oil and gas will become stable or as good as stable again, making trading the tokenized asset almost unprofitable, so how can this be compared to gambling where there is alway a high risk high reward chances?

Both opinions are reasonable basing on the thinking style. Gambling is first and foremost entertainment, providing excitement and chance, which most people love, particularly in sport or the casino. On the contrary, oil and gas trading is more analytical, with market and trend knowledge and risk management. But nowadays, gamers are going to the casino not only to have fun but also to be able to potentially increase their wealth, like trading. The major difference is control- trading gives a chance to plan and train, whereas gambling is rather about luck and there is a house advantage.

, winning is just a bonus because gambling is created for fun and entertainment,
That's right, trading is not gambling which someone can derive fun from from, trading is like a real business which you must have the skill and must be serious with it and also handle it like a real business so you can make profit from it but in gambling, whether you are skilled or not, whether you are old in the system or not, you can never win the house except by luck, but in trading, you let your skill play the role and not just luck.

In fact, when many new people start trading they see it as an easy way to get rich overnight which is basically a gambling mentality. When a gambler bets he has no control over the outcome. There is nothing to learn if he loses in gambling because the loss was random but a trader can control his losses if he wants by using stop loss and decide when to exit the market. Every loss or mistake in trading provides a new lesson, which helps to improve the next trade.

Why don't I trade oil & gas, then prefer to gamble?
The simple reason I can tell you is that trading oil & gas is not as fun as when I gambled on slots. You should understand what those gambling sessions have to offer before making such statements bros, that's if it's in slots, if it's in football betting, maybe the gamblers are more happy because they see real action on the field when the match is in progress.

You’re right with gambling, the outcome tends to depend solely on luck, and even in games that require skill luck ultimately determines the result. With trading, however we can make predictions with the clear goal of generating a profit, so it doesn’t rely entirely on luck. And yes even though we can consistently generate profits through trading for example, we shouldn’t overdo it because anything done in excess tends to be harmful and will end badly.
