I know you must have heard or seen crazy things people are doing to get paid on social media. My question is, have we lost our sense of humanity because of social media monetization? Sympathy, empathy, fear, self-preservation are attribute of humanity, and if we don't care about them anymore what will become of the world in the nearest future?

Morality is increasingly being lost because content creators sometimes no longer consider human attributes, as you mentioned. I see many content creators doing inappropriate things for the sake of monetization. When content is produced unethically, the impact can be far greater on the current generation because they will consume irrelevant videos.

Sometimes we even see invitations to invest in unnatural ways, but the content is made so attractive that it traps people without being able to verify the content. There are certainly negative and positive impacts, but what's regrettable is that some content creators ignore the negative side for the sake of monetization and I find that quite ironic.

That is the case when people take it to the extreme and usually such stream will get banned, it comes down to the people themselves. Some like to exploit desperate people and I think that is not good.
The only saving grace is hoping the platform to enforce stricter rule about this, since what these people seek is attention from the social media and when they got banned for doing that, they won't be doing that.

Unfortunately, if things like this are shown live on social media, it's because there's an audience for this type of content. Lately, I've seen many cases of animal abuse being shown live, if I'm not mistaken, on Discord. Not to mention the challenges that are proposed and that often injure or even lead to the death of children. The pursuit of likes has already exceeded all imaginable limits.

Yeah its very unfortunate that there are certain audience for this kind of thing, I've heard some live streamer over various social media are doing animal abuse and its not just one or two cases, there are many and repeatedly happening.

It's a way for people to survive, adapting to a system that easily rewards them, even if it means slowly eroding their sense of humanity. Without more effective censorship, platforms will increasingly succeed in shaping "cruel" human behavior, with algorithms serving only what they deem most relevant based on cookies, history, and interest input, even though everyone is aware of the untruths, yet they continue to produce and consume them.

What they require are just consistency and engaging, and high-quality contents, risking your health and body or losing your total humanity is out of the context. But if you are a content creator who fall for the ''illusion of the shortcut'', then you'll get burnt out trying to make instant money.

In the end, let's not put the blame on the system, its the people's mindset and crazy ideas that put them into danger.

Due to social media monetisation the influencers now need more views, likes and shares then before to get money from the platform. There is already huge content available on social media and due to this reason the influencers now need to do something different and unique to get the viewership. It is also important to understand that social media activists also do planned videos to get more views and we must not believe everything they do on social media. In the end, its us who views there video and help them in earning money. If we stop giving there fake and bad content the views, they won't make such videos again.

The internet, video hosting sites, social media, and smartphones with video cameras allow anyone to hype things up and make money from them. The internet is flooded with tons of videos, and when people watch them, they're simply looking for new content for entertainment and completely stop experiencing the human qualities you mentioned. One image on a smartphone screen is replaced by another, and what remains behind the scenes (the fate of an individual) no longer has any value.

What will become of the world? What has always happened will continue to happen. The world will change. But I'm not sure that the coming changes will be for the better. For the sake of money, people are even ready to commit immoral acts. What can fix this? Probably only by improving the standard of living.

That is the bad side of social media: people want to see crazy stunts and new stuff that will interest them. Social media has become a place of entertainment and a circus.

I have seen people eating raw foods just to acquire new followers. You can easily make money from your followers by displaying ads, affiliate or sponsorships.

There are stories of people doing unbelievable stunts, and they monetize their page and become rich; everything is all for the money, they are greedy to make money, because they cannot find a decent job, so showing disgusting stunts online has become their thing

A lot has happened over the years, at the very beginning social media monetization became a means for citizens in developing countries to earn from home. People are ready to do anything on social media to get paid. The other day, a lady on live stream, asked a woman with disability if she could jump into the river for 40 bucks not knowing the lady has disabilities. Without the hesitation the lady jumped and almost drowned, immediately the influencer ran and ended the livestream.

The thing is that, most persons are not really doing this for the things you mentioned, they are just craving for attention, a lot of persons want to get social media attention by all means so they believe doing crazy things that will catch people's attention is the only means. Some person just believe the world needs to see them and social media gives an enabling environment for those people to strive, however there are still a multitude of persons that are on the social media that are very private in their dealings, they just visit social media once once to read feeds and then get out.

Because content creators only want people to watch their videos. They do not care whether it will spread positively or negatively. They do not even pay attention to whether someone is personally harmed by their videos.

Platforms have also created various rules and regulations, but still users, regardless of these, continue to create content in their own way. To escape the algorithmic filter, they use various tricks so that their videos are not automatically removed even if they spread negativity.

This is a very common thing among content creators; it is very bad that people are just doing some kind of awkward stuffs just to get paid on social media. Another thing that baffles me is that when someone creates educative contents it won't have much engagement such as likes, comments and share but those pranks that gives people suspense and even harm those creating the contents are the ones with many engagements and since social media monetization is mostly about the views of people on a video, those who creates contents do target what will draw the attention of viewers which are mostly bad scenarios. Just imagine the kind of prank that the content creator made the woman to do knowing fully well that the woman has disability. Anyways, these social apps are making huge amount of money so they do not even care about moderation of contents or to check if a content will cause damage to viewers.

These days, many people have lost their empathy for others and are willing to do anything to make money online. In my area, people are also racing to make money online, especially on Facebook Pro. It's like they're posting about their entire lives just to earn dollars. Even worse, there are people who post about someone who's been in an accident, telling them to send them a gift so they can open the cardboard box covering the victim's mangled head. It's truly insane to think that people have lost their humanity in the pursuit of money these days.

I think that the woman who jumped into the water for 40 bucks was to blame, because no one forced her to do that. She has her own brain, and the influencer's job is just to suggest such an experiment. And stupid things are not only done by fools on social media, but if you remember, there were a lot of shows on MTV about idiots who were stupid, like Johnny Knoxville and I bet you will, where the host gave money to idiots for doing stupid things (like getting a tattoo with Ricky Martin).

According to the original post, the woman has a disability. He didn't state if it was a physical or mental disability. If it is mental, you shouldn't blame her because she doesn't know the consequences of what she was asked to do.

Sadly, these social media influencers are also taking advantage of people's poverty or disability to exploit them. Some of them come up with humanitarian content, and they receive financial support from the public. Some of them syphon the money instead of giving it out to those it was donated to.

Due to the monetization system, some people have found a way to earn money, but I see more bad sides than good. Its negative impact is more among the elderly, children and youth. Yes, I have also noticed this menace on social media, and I feel that the reason some content creators keep putting out harmful and misleading content is because they are getting all the support and encouragement they need from their fans. There are always people to support bad behavior. If only viewers would stop giving incentives and attention to harmful content, these creators would understand that being insensitive is not rewarding. This is where we need these social media platforms to step in and regulate their platforms. These harmful and misleading contents should be flagged and concerned creators given the neccessary punishments.

This is where the problem comes in, doing anything just to gain views without properly considering what one is doing for that view is among the problem and reasons why most criticise and dislike social media. I ran into an unfortunate incident one day where a man had an accident and was at the point of death, instead of offering help the first person that saw him was busy making videos of that incident.

I think something needs to be done consigning rules and regulations governing posts in most social media platform as to regulate the actions of social media users if not, this monetisation will make social media an unconducive place for people very soon.

Maybe its time for developing country to follow the path of Australia and UK on banning social media for minor if the situation is that bad. This could be the side effect of past generation getting exposed to disturbing and harmful content when they haven't even developed their frontal lobe fully.
Sounds like the way to go if the situation is already reaching that kind of breaking point where everybody is just harming other people for cents and why the platform monetize such activity anyway?
