I'm really in the state of quagmire about this topic i created and which i give it a second thought that i have better place to share it and gather allot of ideas from different individuals here because there was a serious argument between two friends that was deliberating that the rich people fall in the categories of gamblers that gamble for fun and the other friends was seriously defending it with his points that gambling for fun is a personal decision, that gambling for fun doesn't determine the kind of status you are, and  i try to support the other friend that says gambling for fun is a personal decision but the other friend is still insisting that is a lie that gambling for fun is basically for the rich people.

Please i need your ideas and contributions on this argument between the two friends.

Indeed,it’s a personal decision.Not all the rich people think the same,rather they all have their own different perspective and thought on how they view situations.Haven’t you seen a rich man that became poor due to he’s irresponsible approach towards gambling?they are in the society.The poor gamblers are often seen as those set of gamblers that gamble with expectation of becoming rich through gambling,but that’s a false notion.Even the poor aren’t exempted for having fun whenever they visit the casino,they’re irresponsible and responsible poor gamblers likewise the rich gamblers,it all depends on the individual’s personal decisions.

It's hard to tell, but I guess you can find many people who gamble for fun & entertainment in both groups... so maybe it's half-half. The rich can afford to spend more money on fun, they can spend more money on their needs & wishes in general, but that doesn't mean that the rest of us can't enjoy it with some smaller amounts that we can afford to lose.

So don't think about others, focus on yourself and your wellbeing... if & when you have some extra cash, and you decide to spend it on gambling, don't worry too much and just enjoy the ride while it lasts. Good luck...

Someone, being rich or poor has nothing to do with gambling for fun..

Anyone can gamble for fun, whether you have a lot of money or just little. Some rich people gamble for entertainment, and some people who are not rich and have less money do the same thing too..
It is just more of the person, not their financial status..

The obvious reason why the poor gambles is to make profit, gambling for fun is mostly for those that are rich because they are not trying to use gambling as a way to make money. poor people on the other hand get too desperate when gambling that's they end up losing the little one they have. This is why poor people become addicted to gambling in the long run. Gambling is only enjoyable for those with fat pockets because they always have to spare and even they lose it doesn't really affect them much but you cannot say the same for poor gamblers.

If you ask me I would say that everybody gamble for fun both the rich and poor but poor people tend to be more interested about the profit than the rich, because poor people don't like engaging themselves into Activities that can't fetch them money because they are seriously in need of money, so for this reason you hardly see the poor claiming that they are gambling for fun and even the poor gamblers I have seen so far are all gambling for profit and not for fun but even as that I still believe that some poor people treat gambling as fun and entertainment but this kind of people is very rare.

Gambling for fun is a personal decision, it doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor. Because even some of the rich people are gambling for profit, while some gamble for fun. There are poor people who genuinely playing for fun and not for profit making.
There was a time I was thinking that the rich people gamble for fun till I met some rich guys in a gambling hall staking on draws. This guys where staking millions on a single draw, and from that day my way of thinking towards rich guys who gamble changed totally.

The rich is likely to gamble for fun imo. The reason why I said so is because the poor would likely see gambling as a means to an end to poverty or a means to riches while rich people just do it because they just want to have fun and don't mind losing a couple of hundreds or even thousands just to feel good about themselves. And there is almost zero repercussions for them especially if they are very rich. Why someone who is poor and say they are doing it for fun will properly regret and won't enjoy the fun of it if they lose their bankroll.

Gambling for fun is usually a personal decision, any body from any category or level in terms of financial status; can either choose to gamble for fun or not depending on their mindset and how they see and treat gambling and what they believe in gambling.

I am not a rich person yet but it was my personal decision to choose to treat all my gambling activities as a fun venture or activity, meanwhile some rich kid might be over there in the Casino chasing after a certain amount of money through the gambling game he or she is playing, which mean he is gambling for money and not for fun..

So in conclusion, gambling for fun is always a personal decision which is basically and usually based on a gamblers experience and mindset, and believe toward gambling.

So by saying it is a personal decision, are you trying to say you have seen poor people who gambles for fun, just the same way rich people does? Because in my many years of gambling, all the poor gamblers I have ever seen at the casino or placing a bet all came because of the money and not for fun just the way you claim. Because the major reason why rich people might be said to gamble is simply because they have enough money, whereby the moment they loses their initial account balance, they can literally just redeposit funds back and continue gambling, unlike poor individuals who will always ensure they don't play with their initial account balance, simply because if it gets exhausted, they may not have any other to replace it.

I think it’s a bit more nuanced than that. Although the wealthy may be able to afford to gamble just to have fun because losing does not significantly impact their lifestyle. not every poor gambler is seeking wealth either. Others may do it too because it is exciting. because they want to escape or because they want to socialize. even when the risks befall them more. The most important distinction is impact poor people are more impacted by the losses and this can easily make fun to become stressful. It is not about who is gambling to have fun, but who is able to really afford losing.

I disagree, because betting for fun is a matter of choice, of mindset, and not of social class. To think otherwise is the same as saying that "poor" people don't have fun. I know many who bet on football, and the money is already set aside for that; it's practically a habit. None of them are in debt or experiencing any kind of hardship; they've won, they've lost, and they continue their lives normally.

Rich people are gambling but it looks like that they are having fun because they have  money to cover their gambling. most of them I can see that betting  big amounts and some are on the VIP roll.
Only a few are looking for fun and gambling for entertainment. We cant tell them they are addicted too as long as they covering the loss of their gambling.
IN general, we can see  those people in rich line that they are having some fun while  gambling coz they can lose the amount they are putting on the roll. unlike for those poor people.
Some in the poor nation are having fun, a real fun but they cant afford the amount to lose on gamnbling which most people tell them they are addicted in casino because those amount should be gone for food instead of having some fun in the casino.
As people, we judge on what we can see in terms of money and we never knew that feeling inside.

At the end, we will stick to our saying that we should gamble what we can afford to lose.

This statement is absolutely true!

Many gamblers, both rich and poor, consider gambling a way to double their money. And just as many gamblers, both poor and rich, consider gambling the same as playing video games or simply a way to entertain themselves in their free time. So, it all depends on each individual's mindset and how they view gambling.

Everything about gambling still remains a personal decision so gambling for fun doesn't made for the rich only rather it is all about discipline yourself and stop at the right time. Sometimes I don't know why most gamblers normally get it twisted by trying to shift the fun to the rich people, forgetting that you can also do it with fun and entertainment, as long as you are gambling with the amount that wouldn't affect you negatively after the game there is nothing to argue about because it's obvious that some gamblers don't know their stand in the game which is why they always have this feeling that the rich are making informed decision more than poor gamblers, but when you settle down check very well you will understand that the rich go extra mile in gambling.

Surely gambling for fun is basically a personal decision that gamblers tend to make for themselves, however the rich folks are more likely to gamble for fun than the poor folks... Isn't it obvious OP that many folks who tend to gamble from for the monetary gains, do so because they are not financial doing well, and coz of that they want to make money by all means through gambling... But yet again, those folks who are already rich don't even get bothered if they lose there bet, because they very well know that they have money to make up for that loss, and that's why gambling for fun seems more realistic with these category of folks(rich folks)....

It is more of personal something than financial status . There are rich people that still gamble because they want to make more money and merely for fun . However, the poor folks are more likely to fall under the category of those that do gamble for money or to make money, this doesn't mean that all the rich are satisfied and contended with what they have. There are still rich people that wants to make more money and they think they can be able to achieve this through gambling. So gambling for fun or to make money is more personal decision and more of financial status.

The reason I think poor people tend to gamble in order to make money is that they pin their hopes on gambling and believe they can make a quick profit through it. However, this can also happen to wealthy people it’s just that it’s less common among the wealthy compared to the poor. So you’re right, this is more a matter of personal choice than financial status because poor people can gamble to make money, and so can wealthy people.

I don’t think the natural thinking of someone that is gambling when he/she is poor is doing it for fun.
Firstly, their main aim is to try and get out of poverty, and there is no fun in that, just trying to survive.
Secondly, another reason is to recover the money they have invested for so long in the course of trying to win and not being successful, and again I do not see the fun in it.
Maybe in a few cases, but these are most likely the reasons why a poor man betting will most likely not be for fun.
