Between the Rich and Poor which one is likely to gamble for funs.

I'm really in the state of quagmire about this topic i created and which i give it a second thought that i have better place to share it and gather allot of ideas from different individuals here because there was a serious argument between two friends that was deliberating that the rich people fall in the categories of gamblers that gamble for fun and the other friends was seriously defending it with his points that gambling for fun is a personal decision, that gambling for fun doesn't determine the kind of status you are, and  i try to support the other friend that says gambling for fun is a personal decision but the other friend is still insisting that is a lie that gambling for fun is basically for the rich people.

Please i need your ideas and contributions on this argument between the two friends.

Actually both rich poor and rich people Gamble a lot, but wealthy in my opinion rich people are the most that are gambling just for fun. on  the other hand if we can use our common sense and investigate all poor people that are gambling we come in to the conclusion that Majority of them are really gambling to make money to be free from poverty not for fun, and they are even taking it serious and put more effort to make huge price and plan become rich through gambling.

If you ask me I would say that everybody gamble for fun both the rich and poor but poor people tend to be more interested about the profit than the rich, because poor people don't like engaging themselves into Activities that can't fetch them money because they are seriously in need of money, so for this reason you hardly see the poor claiming that they are gambling for fun and even the poor gamblers I have seen so far are all gambling for profit and not for fun but even as that I still believe that some poor people treat gambling as fun and entertainment but this kind of people is very rare.

You are correct, most people, whether rich or poor, do use to gamble with the idea of making something out of it.  It is just that when money is tight, then the focus will shift more to making money than fun, because every loss will now be felt. That is just the difference.

But sure there are people who fully treat it as just entertainment, even if they are not common like you said. We should just know that intention is different from person to person.

One cannot easily measure that since gambling is for everyone and we gamble for fun, if the rich  gambles and the poor have different opinion for gambling, it doesn't matter.

Gambling for fun should be the center and aim of our gambling activities so that we would not engage in a lot losses, chasing wins and losses that can't be gotten back, which might leads to lead to addiction if not properly handled.

IMHO, you don't have to stress yourself too much with such arguments. Both poor and rich can gamble for fun, end of discussion.

I agree with you, there are some topics that you don't need to argue with the person when he fails to understand the topic properly and says things out of his own point of view without trying to consider others contributions.

Anyone is entitled to have fun both poor and rich. A poor man can gamble for fun since he has the money to gamble. The rich can use $1000 to gamble for fun why the poor can use $5 to gamble for fun.

That's right, they can both have fun depending on how much they are willing to gamble. Small amount for a poor gambler could be not that much for them.

While the rich can gamble so much money and yet, that's still considered very little amount based on the status of their living.

I disagree, because betting for fun is a matter of choice, of mindset, and not of social class. To think otherwise is the same as saying that "poor" people don't have fun. I know many who bet on football, and the money is already set aside for that; it's practically a habit. None of them are in debt or experiencing any kind of hardship; they've won, they've lost, and they continue their lives normally.

You are correct; just like many other members in this thread, only someone who is not thinking outside of his own personal boundaries can think that those who have fun are only a specific class of people. We have some people who are trapped in their brains; they see every single thing which is meant for entertainment as something designed only for rich people to engage in while they are spending unnecessarily on other things, forgetting that everything is based on budget and planning.

This is true, Rich people don't put much focus on wining from gamble because they have different source of income but as for the poor since they don't have something doing like no source of income they might be putting much focus on wining from gambling, I could imagine the feeling when there's no hope, at that point you will keep forcing things to work according to your will and that's exactly what poor gamblers do because they don't have a hope so they believe that gambling can help them solve most of thier problems.

The two standpoints in this debate are valid. but the truth is somewhere in the middle than siding with one argument. The rich tend to gamble more as a form of entertainment and not a need since they can afford to incur losses with no real impact on them. Conversely. a larger number of poorer people can be gambling hoping to better their financial condition and can take a more serious and emotions-based approach. Nonetheless. recreational gambling is a matter of choice and not predetermined by the level of wealth. Both types of people may gamble either casually or in a serious manner based on their mindset. intentions. and self-control.

I agree with gamble for fun and that is a personal decision. No one forcing others to gamble and if he wants to gamble, he can do that without asking him. But you don't have supporting one of your friends and only say that is a freedom for people to choose.

Rich people knows gambling can makes them losing money and only using gambling for fun but many poor people using gambling as a way to makes money and many bad cases end the story.

It’s not just my opinion—it’s a fact that the wealthy tend to gamble far less than the poor. That’s why fewer lottery tickets are sold in wealthier zip codes than in poorer ones, or why you don’t see bookies in wealthy neighborhoods but see them every few blocks in poorer ones. The thing is, when a rich person appears on social media betting millions, it draws a lot of attention. They might do it for fun, yes, unlike the poor person who is generally looking for a (misguided) escape from their situation. But the key point isn’t that the rich generally gamble more for fun, but rather that—especially if they’re self-made—having gone through a long and arduous process to get where they are, they don’t gamble or tend to gamble very little because they know that gambling is a terrible way to spend your money and your time.

This is an obvious answer that the rich would definitely gamble for fun because they would not feel affected losing money on gambling, compared to the poor who see gambling as a getaway to financial freedom. For the poor, it is survival and for the rich it is mostly for fun.

You could see a group of rich people bet on somewhat irrelevant stuffs; maybe a car race, horse race, or a boxing competition which are not the best kind of games for the poor. You don't expect a poor man to gamble for fun with the little money in his possession, that is totally unreasonable because gambling does not assure profits.

Talk with your friends comes down to what makes people gamble and how loss hits their lives. While rich will gamble as way to have fun since they will not change their lives by losing money, poor may gamble as risky activity to try improving their financial standing and it will not be seen as game, it will be need. Anyone can decide to gamble as fun activity, but decision becomes far easier to make when rich decide to gamble as they are not tied financially to result and they are stressed person who has nothing to lose to win with. I think gambling to have fun is not only game of specific group of people, but game of financial safety. Wealthy people also gamble for prestige, to show their peers that high stakes are nothing to them and they can afford it. Horse racing, racing, and golf betting are the games of the rich. But when you do not have enough money to meet your daily needs and are unable to make arrangements for your comfort, if you spend money on gambling, if you say that you are gambling for fun, then it will definitely be a lie. It would be wrong to make a comparison between the rich and the poor here, because gambling requires prudent money. A rich person can have prudent money as well as a poor person.
