Sometimes I sit and can't help but ponder on how we as Nigerians have had to delve completely from being a post-scarcity, abundant, flourishing, hegemonic country to a now survivalist country. We get so affected by external shocks and news of other countries and regions, so economically fragile, have resource scarcity and have to survive on just getting by a day, yet we still claim to be the giant of Africa all due to poor leadership. Besides having inflation and volatility affecting prices of goods, services and commodities in the country, there's also the issue of unregulated prices among local merchants who fix their own prices without being regulated, thereby creating an unstable price system that is different from place to place. Na we be our own problem from a point of view and it's just mind boggling. What is our problem in this country really? How can the system of this country be improved both economically and otherwise, because I don't think that inflation alone is our problem?

The part about unregulated pricing is very real cos in many places prices are just based on how the seer feel at that moment and this alone creates confusion and makes life harder for the average people because nothing is predictable anymore. I also agree with your point that we are all part of the problems as well because starts to adjust in ways that even makes things worse. So for me I’ll say the main issue is just the structure, why because a country can not grow when there is no strong system guiding how things should work economically. Leadership matters a lot but the system itself also needs to be strengthened so that things don’t just depend on individual feeling. I believe improvement will definitely come with better police’s and discipline from both leaders and the citizens.

To gain real freedom from some of the challenges of the nations, You have to take responsibility of your life and try as much as possible to fix yourself first while expecting the government to fix the nation. If you're not in the position of power, there's literally little you can do about the economic and security situation of the country but unfortunately, going into politics will if care isn't taken daint you and that's the main reason why a lot of people are shying away from it. The economy is bad and yet, billionaires are coming out of same economy on a daily bases. The government seams to have failed us and yet People are still surviving and doing big things. At the end of the day, we have to accept that it's in your place to make do with the situation in the country what you want to do with it. Face the different problems heads on and discover that everything will with time align well.

I agree with parts of what you are saying, taking personal responsibility is very important no doubt because people who focus on skills, businesses and adapting to the system sometimes still finds a way to survive and still grow despite the economy and that is why we still see successful people around in the country but to say that there’s little one can do or that the environment depends on individual effort is not completely correct reason because the environment we find ourselves really matters a lot in this. In a system with high inflation, unstable policies, poor infrastructure and insecurities up and down, even the most hardworking person will still find it very hard and still struggle. Also the facts that a few people are succeeding doesn’t necessarily mean that the system is working, in many cases those successes comes from connections or operating in sectors that are not even affected or less affected not because the economy is favorable. So for me I’ll say that yes individually we should take responsibility and adapt but the government also has a major role to create a country where efforts actually pays off because without a working system even if we give all our efforts, we might still struggle.

Omo! In Nigeria, there is no one problem o, there are plenty problem. Is as if we are the country of all the problem in the world. People complain all day and night, both the rich and the poor. Problem are many in Nigeria ranging from lack of security, lack of hospital equipment, high level of crimes and criminal behavior in our organization, no proper jobs for the youths making them go in to crimes and fraud. Inflation is just among the problem we all are facing in Nigeria. Every day our eyes use to see things that are improper. When you go to social medias like Facebook and Tiktok, you will see where they are using Ai to form where a new born baby is angry to his mom while she gave birth to him in Nigeria. Every day people are applying for visa to relocate to other countries because of the problems. Security is even one of the bigger problems we are facing in Nigeria more than inflation because you need the safety of your life first before you can think of what to do in other to survive. There are so many problems today and not only inflation which we are begging our leaders to please help us and work on it.

At this point it’s not about identifying one problem again, na the combination of everything because when security, unemployment, poor health care and high cost of living all happen at the same time, it puts a lot of pressure on the people. If people don’t feel safe it affect everything entirely, business, movement even peace of mind and before you talk about making money or surviving, you first need to know that you are safe. For me the painful part is not just the number of problem but how normal it is starting to feel. People are gradually adapting and adjusting to things that shouldn’t be normal in the first place.

We as Nigerians, we are also contributing to the hardship in the country, because we are taking it part of our culture to pressurize each. I notice that some years ago, some Nigerian traders are collaborating with manufacturing companies in other countries to reduce the quality of the products like drugs and some farming tools there are purchasing just to buy them in cheapest prices, so when they come back home, those things should be selling in higher prices or normal price as the quality ones that are made in Nigeria.
When it Come to the issue of employment, See how some people they set many conditions before they recruit you in their own company or their private organization, and even if they hire you they will not pay the appropriate amount. You can see that we are also playing role in the hardship that we are facing in this country.

The recipe to this problem is when the changes we want begins with us, every one should be sensitize to know that the government can not actually do everything that will satisfy us and even when things seems to be getting tougher we should be open minded to helping our selves in any way we can instead of making things worst, the thing is that everyone can never think in the same direction, different mindsets here there some are very negative and they derived joy in it by causing problems while others are positive and take part in problems solving, things can never be perfectly well even till the end of time.

E dey surprise me as you just dey realize say we sef dey among the problems wey dey worry this our country. Any small thing we go dey blame government for everything, and if we reason the matter well, we go believe say na we be the first problem. Everybody just dey increase price anyhow dey wan. The price of Mr A dey difference from waiting Mr B dey sell without any reason. We no even dey pity each other just to make more profit. And las las if we dey suffer na together na so we go dey shouts government. The way this country matter be like this, people just dey find how to survive on top each other head. Even if na for each other head we go chop our own too much. We need to make things easier for ourselves before the governments sef go reason us. The problem isn’t the government alone, we dey among and we need to change the way we think, the way we dey treat each other most especially when it comes to business, some people dey greed enter business.

The thing is that since we don't have a price control system, business owners will arbitrarily increase the prices of goods and services to the detriment of the citizens. Because in most cases is not really about inflation, sometimes people deliberately want to sabotage the system just to gain more. If we can have a government that will be strict with price regulations, trust some of this unnecessary inflation we are seeing will die a natural death.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, inflation is not even our biggest problem in Nigeria because even if food prices drop today, will there be stable electricity, will there be job, will people feel safe going to sleep at night, will hard work finally pay without connection? Sometimes it feels like we are treating symptoms and forgetting the real disease because the truth is you can reduce inflation and people will still suffer if the system itself is not working. So maybe the real problem is not just the cost of living, maybe it’s the way the entire system is structured. So let’s be honest with ourselves and ask this question if inflation drops tomorrow, will your life change really change that much?

I strongly agree with you on this because a country is as bad as its systems and not the elected or selected leaders in quote. When we have consumer price protection working along with labour unions and price control offices that go far reaching into the rural and urban communities to ensure adherence to strict price policies, I think inflation would be measurably controlled and not really felt like it is today.

Inflation is part of the problem but that doesn't mean it is the only problem we are facing in Nigeria. The inflation we are talking about is cause by what?. The main problem we are facing in Nigeria is corruption, virtually all the sectors of government is being corrupted. Talking about price regulation the government is supposed to set up an agency that is supposed to monitor the prices of goods in every market in this way they can be able to control the prices of goods. However, I don't if it is so in Nigeria. Where there is no law guiding the local sellers in terms of price increment, they will act in whatever they like.

Talking about the problems of Nigeria, I see inflation as the least of them all as there are other problems worst than inflation which we cannot find the solution for now. Inflation is one thing that can easy be controlled when the country has a good leadership structure but what is disturbing Nigeria now that is very difficult to control is corruption. All sectors and individuals in Nigeria now have been corrupted to an extent that trust and straightforwardness no longer exist in Nigeria now which if not controlled Nigeria can never get better. Apart from corruption, there are many more diseases that have eaten deep into the life of all and of of it is insecurity. That of insecurity deserves serious attention as we don't know who it will be next.

Naturally Nigerians are greedy people if not tell how people will be comfortable looting without the fear of anything, recent there different things that has been happening in this country but if is unfortunate that we have country that their government still from the national Treasury, borrow huge amount from foreign country that continues to increase our foreign debt and still want to tax the poor to abject poverty, there one example I want to make here which is the reason that I support you that Nigerians are greedy, we know that current the price of PMS and infact all the petroleum products including kerosene, where you will understand that we nigerians are greedy is the transportation aspect, if fuel price drops today, non of us should expect the price of transmission to drop because it won't and the government will not monitor it, infact nothing will drop in price that's the country we living in.

Definitely the inflation can easily be solved if we have good leadership, likewise corruption also, if we have good leadership things will have been a little be better, Nigeria is seriously battling a lot right now and it's very difficult to solve the problem because a lot of personal interest are involved which cannot be taken away from them. The government started all this corruption and the Citizens learn from them, so in this aspect I don't think it can go easily, but it have to be gradually with a very sincere leader who are ready to do Justice. Currently now Nigeria are not practicing democracy system of government rather they are practicing dictatorship because even the military regime will be far better than this administration.

I think they are all connected, inflation, insecurity and corruption . The reason is corruption weakens the system which makes insecurity harder to control and then insecurity disrupts farming and businesses which also pushes price up and fuel inflation. So what looks like different problem is actually one, they don’t exist separately, they feed each other, all in one cycle. So fixing corruption will help but without improving security and economic stability, the impact will still be limited. That’s why many people feel like Nigeria has many problem but in reality they are all tied to how the system works or doesn’t work together.

It must be admitted that due to weak leadership, the economic situation in the country is getting worse day by day, along with this, inflation is increasing, if the government had been working to reduce corruption from the beginning, then probably we would not have seen today's terrible days. There are various reasons for the increase in inflation, but one of them is corruption, when corruption surrounds a country, the country gradually descends towards destruction, and we are on that way, to bring peace to our country, first of all, corruption must be free, if corruption is not free, the development of the country is never possible. The government is not taking the right steps to reduce corruption because the government is involved in it. When the head of a country is associated with corruption, how can the country run peacefully. Day by day, instability will only increase in the country, making life difficult for the common people.

To be honest this is not just the result of one problem, but the effect of many long term accumulated problems. The accumulation of small mistakes, weak systems, and uncontrolled practices over many years has created this situation today, I think we can't just blame the government we need to gradually fix our entire system. If there are rules, obey them, increase accountability and be a little responsible at the local level it is difficult to bring about big changes without changing these things. Only by starting with small things in the right places, can we actually gradually improve.
