It’s another season to show love to vulnerable children on the streets—many of whom go hungry and struggle to feed daily. Following our last successful charity outreach program
(here),

Here is a highlight of the money received and how it was spent.

A total of ($259.92) in Nigerian naira of the amount N383,382 was received.

The sum of $240, which is equivalent to N354,285.06 in Nigerian naira, was spent on buying provisions for the children.

While $19.7, the equivalent of N29,096.94, was spent on transport logistics from having to get the items and transporting these items to the various orphanages. The time for the activities ranged between 12 noon and 6 pm.

Initially, I and the team I formed to make this a massive success had plans of visiting just 3 orphanages, but we figured with the resources at our hands, we could do more, and so we extended it to a 4th.

   

   

We purchased the following items from a grocery store:
5 bags of the 25 kg rice
4 containers of the 3-liter vegetable oil
6 cartons of noodles
5 big packs of washing soap and tissue
4 cartons of Caprisone fruit juice

Outside the general budget, I, with my own money, purchased some fairly used clothes, and that is the content of the bags in each of the donations.

I am surprised you talk of disappointment because you underrate and underestimate the effort needed to put things like this together, projects that go beyond the forum and will actually require your physical effort, and time for success.

I will prefer to represent my country good than doing something that other countries are not doing on this forum. I have not seen a donation happening repeatedly on this forum. I posted the reason that I went against it the last one which is that this will be repeating and I am not surprised when I saw another topic.

If all countries starts this kind of donation, it would have been better. As you see other countries not doing it, why must you continue? I have posted what is in my mind.

You have WhatsApp group that you can post this and raise money from there instead. Or contact your closest friends ones again and they will donate.

Various charity campaign appears on Bitcointalk time from time. Some were good, but IIRC there was some cases when things didn't ended well. It's sensitive topic. Don't know what is forum administration stance on making charity campaigns on Bitcointalk. I'm a bit afraid that if everyone can start donation campaign here, we can open rabbit hole for potential scams.

It was very likely not allowed as when yahoo62278 made his thread, initially he did not ask for donation and there was no donation address in his thread, but later community supposed him to add the donation address. He did added it, but hours or a couple of days later, forum admin or moderator PMed him and asked him to remove the donation address.

Op you are taking Nigeria as core poorest country in the world. Charles-Tim tell you the truth and you attacking. You are collecting part of those money and that is why you launched another charity thread immediately after the first one as they said. Why can't you meet the community leaders to feed the children. Even orphanage children are not begging like you. Go and open an Orphan in your community so that politicians will give palliatives to support your begging style. This is begging in advance style.

There was another charity, quoted in the OP, in which some of us participated and people told Rruchi man if he was going to do another one because they were willing to participate/donate again. I wouldn't participate if this was an ongoing like monthly thing. But 2-3 times a year? I'm OK with it.

The difference is that yahoo62278 was asking for money for himself, not for other people, which is considered begging.

Fundraising to benefit a community has been permitted on the forum without requiring prior approval.

We are not saying you should not help the charity, but you can see that we Nigerians have different opinions about it, including me. You do not know us personally, so you can not just use what you called logic to judge anyone of us online.

Which Nigerians have you spoken to about it? the one that dissaprove, because the feedback from the first project is different; maybe you didn't see them.

This is a great plan to bring smiles to the faces of orphans. I really like to see someone doing charity work, because people are for people. I always remember one thing, if you think for others, then others will also think for you. I would definitely be happy to be a part of such a charity work, but there is still a lot of time for that. OP, thank you very much for coming forward with a beautiful plan.

I'm seeing a charity as something you are doing for your self, because supporting the privileged ones is like challenging God to do more for your life,

is not a bad idea reaching out to the unreached and the less privillage out there, however christmas is fast approaching and it's a time of celebration. Let's put hands together and make it work because every love and smiles you put on someone's face reciprocate a millions  blessings back in return.

This is a welcome development because we are gradually going into a season of celebration, sharing and showing love to others. So for someone to come up with this type of initiative is commendable and should be treated as a matter of importance for everyone in the forum that has a compassionate and kind heart which will see others happy.

This is a kind gesture that has been mentioned in our scriptures, and every religion encourages almsgiving; that is, remembering those who are less privileged than others.

Welcome development op, you get my full support on this idea, their are thousands and one children out there that are very hungry and the least we can do is to show love to them. supporting and showing concerns to the less privilege is one thing God loves and cherish so much, if we can be able to effect this innovating ideas of ours it will be great 👍.

I think it’s beautiful that OP has come up with this initiative, the world needs more people like OP.  

This idea speak volume in reminding us as human we need render help within our reach to the less prevellege, wealth or money without your neighbor having good impact that seem positive or relief on their pains and sorrow Worth not celebrating. One thing I observe when help is render to the less prevellege the word "thank you" and God bless you is a prayer that goes a long way spiritually in paving way for the giver.

This is the last thing I will post about this, until the next charity which may be independents day or December outreach.

Rruchi man posted about Charity that some of us were not informed about. It is all made up by some of his people in his town. If people are creating their own from another states and towns, this service board will only be flooded with different charity donations which is what I want to prevent.

If they like, they can continue but we have bigger communities in Nigeria and many of us from different communities are on this forum. Making this charity to be repeating 2 or 3 times in a year or more does not make any sense. Repeating it was what I against the last time and not the charity itself that time, and this is exactly what is happening.

Terrorist attacked my community last night and more than 10 close relatives whom I grow up with are killed, Currently being buried, but I feel the need to reply to you Free Market Capitalist being someone I respect so much here on bitcointalk, there have been alot of charity frauds raising in my country even the registered charity foundations, who are all caught up in that fraud, imagine someone holding on to over 200 millions naira plus raised in the name of helping the orphans and less privileged for two-year and counting,.

I am not saying this to discourage anyone from donations and rendering helping hand to the next human, but there is a pattern that we Nigeria are currently fighting against here just to revive our image internationally.

To be frankly speaking, I think both you guys @Wiwo and @Charles-Tim are bigger than what you people are displaying here, because this what a newbie or full member who hasn't been on the forum for long is supposed to do, and you guys correct him. But it's sad you guys are the people acting this way, and it is very bad.

Secondly, I'm pretty much sure that Nigeria is not the only country with orphans or people in need, and for that reason, the fact that you can't help these orphans with your money or rather organized a fundraising from people who are willing to support to help these kids, that doesn't mean you should stop someone who is ready and willing to organize a fund raising to help these orphans in need.. Please, 🙏🙏... Nobody is forcing you.. it is a freewill donation..

Because I absolutely don't think what you said above is necessary here, because if you are to do a proper investigation, you will notice that this same individual you are accusing of holding over #200million of donated funds have actually helped a lot of people with his own personal money by building several boreholes in different villages and helping school children across Nigeria.

So please, this is not the first time fund raising is been made on the general forum and our respective local boards. .
