Na another season to show love to vulnerable children on the streets—many of dem dey hungry and struggle to feed themselves daily. Following our last successful charity outreach program
(here),

Here is a highlight of the money received and how it was spent.

A total of ($259.92) in Nigerian naira of the amount N383,382 was received.

The sum of $240, which is equivalent to N354,285.06 in Nigerian naira, was spent on buying provisions for the children.

While $19.7, the equivalent of N29,096.94, was spent on transport logistics from having to get the items and transporting these items to the various orphanages. The time for the activities ranged between 12 noon and 6 pm.

The putting of A SMILE
Initially, I and the team I formed to make this a massive success had plans of visiting just 3 orphanages, but we figured with the resources at our hands, we could do more, and so we extended it to a 4th.

   

   

We purchased the following items from a grocery store:
5 bags of the 25 kg rice
4 containers of the 3-liter vegetable oil
6 cartons of noodles
5 big packs of washing soap and tissue
4 cartons of Caprisone fruit juice

Outside the general budget, I, with my own money, purchased some fairly used clothes, and that is the content of the bags in each of the donations.

Have you been outside of your comfort zone to see that the number of people suffering under the pressure of the economy has increased and hungry and homeless children are now more on the street?

I care about children, but this is what individual can do on their own.

We can affect more lives positively with more donors and money than only I can provide. If you are not interested in contributing, you do not have to discourage others who love charity, and not just for those in this forum.

You are the one to tell me this. You can teach me more about the situation in Nigeria. Charity is not needed in other countries.

If the donation is not beyond local board, it would have been better. It is better you stop this in the general board. If you like, you can continue.

I'm acting by the books, I guess you forgot to read that part of the local rules that requires me to act in that capacity to make sure every penny raised through the local board is well accountable for; I try to make this place as free as possible.

I always encourage charitable donations; it's just who I am.

If the person needed help then opened up and no support was rendered then it would be so unfair that we couldn't support one of our own when he needed us most but since the person didn't make  it public or ask for help then there's no point using it as a reference, some persons that are close to him might have shown morale or whatever support to him.

I still know about COVID 19 and the flood in one country, I think Pakistan. They are all one time donations and not what will be seeked for repeatedly.

I am not against it on this local board because I know people in Nigeria know what is going on than people that are not Nigerians.

Nigerians are poor, they can't help much, so it's not crime seeking help from the General public ( they donated the most last time)

The only way to help the donation is to donate your sig payment this week and don't speak.

You should direct those questions to the OP; if he decides to turn this into some sort of a foundation and to run it annually or quarterly I won't have any problem with it as long as he's not breaking the rules of the forum.

My only concern is to make sure OP or whoever is raising local donations uses the funds properly as stated.

I don't think it's a wrong idea reaching out to the unreached out there since it's not something that is mandatory. To be very honest people out there aren't finding life easy with them so if this is the little we can do just to put smile's on someone face especially the kids, is one cool way to God's heart. Is not wrong reaching out with hands of help to the helpless, is what we have done, and we are still doing and continue to render help for the vulnerable in society, as Nigerians here on bitcointalk we represent our country, and at that we must conduct ourselves in the most respectable manners and not in anything that will portrait less, weakness or sense of depences.

Emergency charity funding should be limited to forum members alone like we have always done for other forum members online and offline and when there is call for action they will always be selected members to conduct the charity projects.

But when charity becomes a consistent thing, it gives room for abuse and sense of irresponsibility for the receiver, whichever ways begging or asking for donations is not accurate or encouraging for the timing alot is going on with global economy and everyone need to take responsibility and action and not asking for alms,

Charity foundation lately are questioned, and no longer something anyone can just wake up execute, there is need for procedures not just one or two man show, things are changing both offline and online as regards to public donations.

According to what I've read about the outreach initiative. There's nothing wrong with the outreach, but I believe Charles-Tim is arguing that the movement should be moderated to avoid excessive posting of such events, which could raise eyebrows among other members of the forum who are not from Nigeria.
I personally believe the movement should be a regional movement rather than one that benefits just one area, to prevent misconceptions.
