I have noticed something  and i think it is more dangerous than losing. It is almost winning.

When you lose a bet it is clear. You accept it and move on. But when you almost win it feels different. It feels like you were just one step away. Your mind starts telling you next time I will get it.

And that is where things change. You are no longer playing the game. You are chasing that feeling of being close. I have seen people stay calm after a los but one near miss makes them increase their bets. They think they understood something but in reality nothing changed. It is still random.

Being close does not mean you were right.

So I want to ask. Do you think almost winning is more dangerous than losing?

Before I think this way but as I become experienced and matured on gambling I stop thinking that way and consider all losses including near win as plain lose no buts or other reasoning.

All games on casino are predetermined which means those near win means it’s just a graphical representation but it was destined to lose.

On sports betting, it means that your prediction was wrong since the out go the opposite no matter how close the match since the result will be the same if you bet or not.

You have a point, there is nothing worse than a near miss in gambling, this can shatter a gamblers mind and it is capable of making that person chase losses. But this is something we must all accept because it is part of the game, there is no game that guarantees winning.

Honestly, I fell for this trap several times in the past because I do feel that I can correct what went wrong that led to it, but the fact is that the next game might even be worse than the previous. Gambling isn't what can be mastered therefore, a near miss doesn't mean that you can fix your mistake in your next bet for a win.

Currently, I accept the outcome of my bet whether, it's a near miss or not. The more experience you are in gambling, the more you know that gambling is a game of luck and limiting the risk is the best way to stay healthy.

Hell yeah, because that really does something to your brain, I just don’t know the exact term for it, but based on experience, whenever I get that feeling of almost winning, I always get the urge to gamble again next time with the hope that I’ll finally hit it.

Almost winning and losing are the same thing... in both cases, you end up with nothing. The outcome doesn't change, no matter how close it looked. So that "almost" part is only in your head...

In real life, "almost" means something... You were close to something because of your action and you can work/improve/adjust and be better next time. But in gambling, once we make a bet, it's either win or lose... and that "almost" sounds foolish.

How can someone tell that he is almost winning? There is no such thing in gambling. You can either win or lose. There is no third option. Its either you guess correctly random outcome or not. Its people who think that there is almost winning are endangered. Because they dont get concept of gambling and think they have a slight chance of winning when randomizer already decided game result.

And I agree with you, since that is the exact situation happens. People would really think that they are going to be lucky next time, because some gamblers think that those near missed outcomes is great sign that lucky break would come next.

But those what they think is actually not always going to happen knowing the result of gambling is always unsure or all in random form.

This is the reason its good to stick on what plans or strategy they have, also stay on their budget then gambling what they can afford to lose.

my worst feelings come when my actions affect the outcome of my bet, let say when I have the chance to act to safe my bet like when I have a good Cash out offer but failed to take it, and in the end my bet end up losing, that feelings of guilts hurt a lot. the thing is that losing in whatever way will never feel good at all, but gamblers must be ready and prepared to face they loses because it will eventually come, gambling comes with more loses than winning so we have to accept that and get our minds prepared for it and to handle it effectively.

This isn't just in gambling but also in investment too.

I can remember investing money on few altcoins and some did 10x, I took profit and they did 20x later, I was like that's what I needed.

The next time I waited for 20x, one almost got to 20x and I wait drowning in that pool of "almost there" which is similar to what OP is saying, that feeling is captivating, imprisonment if you ask me.

It's easy to think that this is a healthy feeling but it's not, it just fuels your greed and chasing spirit even more, I've learned to always accept things the way the come.

almost wining is not different from losing because both are the same, the only different i see in them is that in losing as the case may be, might just be the first game cutting your ticket like in sport bet, which makes you totally lose hope of wining since it started from the beginning. but the "almost wining "as you said, to me is just like losing the last bet on a parlay to win the ticket. although the last game to have won a ticket that later cut, is a motivator to bet next time than the first gamer to cut a ticket, but that does not mean that both can not make the gambler to come again.

What you might have discussed is the near miss or near hit phenomena. Wherein we are also there and we can feel that the winning is forthcoming. However, everything is base on pure luck and so when you think you are there, suddenly the odds shift.

The almost win experience is a real trap. It will make you feel like you were just one small step away. like maybe it was just one small mistake from a player or something you just overlooked, and next time you can fix it.

Almost winning is a prerogative of gambling, if you are not ready for this you cannot play.
I'll explain what I mean, the near win is adopted to push the player and try again, it's a psychological issue, if you know the mechanism you don't let yourself be fooled.
In gambling, you either win or lose, there is no such thing as near (also because it brings no results), near is neither negative nor positive for your economy, but it affects the mind and it is there that you should not be fooled.

For me, it's absolutely the same thing. Almost winning doesn't happen; it's still a loss. I don't think it will help the player next time, and it all depends on the type of game. The chances are always 50/50, and almost winning is something to calm yourself down and make the loss less upsetting. Plus, if you enjoyed it, that's great.

I really get your point but losing is also very bad because even when we use what we can afford to lose sometimes we still feel some emotional distress after loss and some people will not give up, they will want to recover what they have lost and I don't subscribe to that mindset or mentality because it will lead to more loss. Yes when I started gambling near mis always give some kind of assurance that I will win definitely but I understood better now so I don't feel that way anymore.
