Question about charities/fundraising

CHILDRENS DAY OUTREACH PROJECT.

The question occurred to me. I stated the following:

Every charity program or project should be approved, to avoid future legal cases.

It was very likely not allowed as when yahoo62278 made his thread, initially he did not ask for donation and there was no donation address in his thread, but later community supposed him to add the donation address. He did added it, but hours or a couple of days later, forum admin or moderator PMed him and asked him to remove the donation address.

My story and where it is now.....

Locking this now. Was sent a pm by a mod asking me to remove the addresses. Unsure where I broke a rule, but not worth the argument either. No longer in the hospital and any bills that come i'll figure out. It's not the forums problem. Thank you all for reading and to those who helped TY!!!! Biggest thing to take from this whole thread is make sure you are keeping up on your health. You never know what you might detect early just by getting regular check ups.

The difference is that yahoo62278 was asking for money for himself, not for other people, which is considered begging.

Fundraising to benefit a community has been permitted on the forum without requiring prior approval.

Charities/fundraising have been allowed in the forum without prior approvals as it form one of the notable use case of Bitcoin. I have listed below some charity/fundraising that were hosted in this forum in the past:

• Fundraising for Orphan school Vocational Training Program hosted by irfan_pak10
• Bitcoin100 hosted by Phinnaeus Gage
• Donate to Ukraine hosted by paxmao
• Forum donation

There are many other donations hosted in the forum and I do not think any approval is needed for that. As long as the intentions are genuine and the money used for the right course, there should be no problems about it.

There is no official rule requiring prior approval, so yes.

While I have no plans to start a fundraiser on this forum, I'm not against it if a user with a ++ reputation is transparent enough. Every little act of kindness can make a big difference, but this is where PP's concern rises-- if these opportunists all over the forum decides to see it as another form of bounty, we're fucked! That part too.

It also happened, it was a long time ago and not sure about the name but escrow, along with the user who collected the funds, used the money on his marriage or something.

I guess the reputation of the user is at stake when they do such things, if they do it with no wrong intention then they are making a change in the society or else just ripping of people in the name of Noble cause after spending enough time to build the reputation required for that heist.

I believe you are referring to this thread: Bitcointalk Charity Program - Give Hope To Everyone!  . And I understand why many people here would be sceptical about giving their hard earned money to another charity project considering past experiences.

It is understandable, but at the same time, if we allow past experience to stop us from doing the right thing instead of thinking through it, we might not save a life.

Before donating to a fundraiser, the best thing to do is to check if the person involved is honest, doesn't have a bad record in the forum, and is trustworthy this time. If you are still skeptical about the whole thing, ask some valid questions otherwise, we will be too cautious to help when we actually stand a chance to help someone.

This idea of charity online isn't fancied by Everyone but as far as the forum is concerned so long it's not perceived as straight up begging then it should be allowed. There was a similar one recently but it was quickly talked down on because people were of the opinion it wasn't really worth it at least from what I could comprehend.

Nevertheless I'll summarise it as people have their own way of giving and considering the history of charity both online and offline I barely see changes in view and outcome.

The argument that all Nigerians will now start doing something similar is completely pointless, because there are few on the forum who have the reputation to even start something like that.

The quoted reply from Lucius in the other thread do justice to your worry, beyond just Nigerians.

When it comes to financial dealings, the forum is very selective with users to trust.

Aside user rank, not all Legendary members can be trusted, the first one was a success, there is no reason to doubt yet.
