Bitcoin is really a good investment. But aside from bitcoin, what cryptocurrencies one must have at this season? The goal is for keeping it/them for a long period of time and the profit when the time is right.
Since you are new, for now, you should start investing in BTC and slowly learn how to increase your investment or BTC accumulation. Because investing in altcoins without understanding or the new situation is very risky and most newbies are very likely to lose money if they invest in altcoins first, I am saying this from my personal experience. However, if someone wants to trade in the coins above the list, they can. On the other hand, Bitcoin is volatile, but even then it acts as a store of value, so you should learn how to control your stress and keep your investment safe and secure even during price fluctuations.

Lol, this is true but we are in altcoin discussion. If we were not, I would say that there is literally no other coin that is as best as bitcoin and if you really want to buy something then everyone should buy bitcoin.
But the idea that we are already in altcoin discussion means that OP and others do not want to hear that, and understand that there are people who would like to invest only in bitcoin like us, but they do not want to do that and want some altcoins instead of that and take a risk.
It seems everyone has forgotten that we are in altcoins board, and OP already know and acknowledges that Bitcoin is best investment. It is hard to understand why some people keep repeating thing that everyone already know. However, unlike Bitcoin, altcoins carry significant risks, and their future is difficult to predict. Therefore, when investing in altcoins and which coins are worth holding, each of us should do our own research and make our own decision instead of relying on the advice of others

Bitcoin is quintessential if your looking for a really solid one but I think ETH is also essential in this types of discussions. Just as the others has expressed in earlier and recent posts, we are in the alt coins area of discussion I would consider doge and XRP. Plenty of potentials with other cryptocurrencies right now in the market but these two have been making some sleek waves on their own in the past months.
Not just quite though but truly an essential one. You better say it in ETH buddy, as it looks like you value ETH there more in your post over BTC. So yeah, ETH is only optional. We can consider it if we are into diversifying. But this is where the word essential can come in ETH because it is the leader of the altcoins. So it would be weird to consider other alts without having and prioritizing ETH first. Speaking of other alts, you have given DOGE and XRP there. Don't be offended with what I'm about to say mate but these coins are known to be a shitcoin by this community. DOGE is only just a meme coin though and then XRP have a lot of controversy going on them. You think they are good because you saw them perform well before but that is only a manipulative tactic done by the people behind them, or also caused by the hype. They are not sustainable though.

Bitcoins should be your first choice of investment. If you don't want all your eggs in a single basket than you can consider diversifying your portfolio where you can add various other altcoins like ETH, XMR, BNB, SOL, KCS, etc. Maybe you can focus more on coins having a strong product backing them. Easiest pick for you would be to go with exchange's coins like BNB or KCS. BNB has shown really great demand in the past and the same is expected in future if bitcoins cross $100k again. Most of the crypto markets will revolve around bitcoins so you would need to keep watching bitcoins to find other investment opportunities.
If I may ask, by long term, do you mean years or months? I have seen new people investing for two or three months and considering that as a long term investment which is wrong. If you really want to invest for a longer duration, you will have to prepare yourself to hold at least for a couple of years.

Depends on your budget. You can include top 5 coins compared by market cap and can hold those for long term. You have 95% success rate here if you are ready to hold through tough times and for a really long period.
You can't expect profits in just a few months as the market seems to be in the bearish zone for a while, but things will soon change and the bulls will grow stronger. That will be the time for you to start booking profits but until that time comes, you will need to hold your bag patiently. I am confident you can have really good profits if you have a stable mind.
Majority of your holdings can be in bitcoin as the risk there is pretty less and other portion can be distributed into top 5 coins. You can increase the risk by investing in lower cap projects expecting higher profits but in most of the times, you would end up in loss there.

for long term, many people still pefer sticking mostly with bitcoin and maybe few strong altcoins, besides btc, some common choices are: - Ethereum - biggest altcoin, strong ecosystem
- Solana - popular for speed and growing apps
- BNB - large exchange support and utility
- Chainlink - useful real-world blockchain utility
but honestly, long term investing is more about patience and risk management than chasing random coins. many altcoins look strong today but disappear after a few years, so its safer to focus on projects with real use and active development

Find use-case tokens/coins, I mean tokens with utility and workability that have dipped, run a check on them and see the ones you can invest in. If you won't mind, you can check those listed on Binance or top exchanges that have dipped massively but their maximum supplies aren't outrageous. Also, you can check exchange tokens with less than a billion max supply. This is what I've been doing for the past few weeks now. Price may not have picked now but definitely it will sooner than imagined. I believe some of us saw what TON ecosystem did two or three days ago and how almost all the tokens on that chain came alive again. This industry is a crazy place. Don't underate any seemingly dead OG project. They can spring surprises. Cavéat: All that I've said should only be taken as a suggestion and not as a financial advice.

I don't like talking about any other digital asset apart from Bitcoin because it's futuristic concept and how reliable, trusted and valued it is, but since you need advise and suggestions of coins to invest in that has given the impression that they could be trusted somehow but no as Bitcoin, you can go for BNB, ETH, SOL and many more which if I remember I might add them here for you, I don't know if these altcoins has already been suggested for you, I have to mention them although there other ones, why I choose them is because they are the ones that follow Bitcoin trend, if you have been following the recent upward movement of Bitcoin before it dropped, the aforementioned altcoins has been up and doing, despite that they can not be like Bitcoin, they showed a good sign that they can do better than others.

Personally as an investor I will obviously feel comfortable investing in bitcoin which is a more affordable and appreciated coin, people feel safe investing in bitcoin which is why people are talking about it, and altcoin comes with so much risk involved.

Altcoins are not really good for long term investments, and for the short term, it is really hard to find the good ones that will bring reasonable profit. But I don't know why you are bothering to invest in another coin when you already know that Bitcoin is a really good investment. So, it is better to invest in what you know well than to invest in projects you don't know about because they have led many people to lose money early in the crypto industry.Again, I don't think there is anyone who will mention a coin to invest in apart from Bitcoin because there is no coin that is as good for long term investment as Bitcoin, unless the person is just promoting altcoins. So, it will be better if the money you wanted to invest in altcoins is invested in Bitcoin instead. I have tried many altcoins before, and I should not lie to you I ended up regretting it.

If you can not explain in one line why a coin will survive for the next 10 years then it is stupid to hodl it for 10 years. New investors often gather hundreds of altcoin in beginning. But those with a few hundreds of altcoin could never come close to the bitcoin hodlers. The calculation of portfolio sorting should be crystal clear. In short Bitcoin is the safest and most profitable bet. Among the altcoin, Ethereum is the only one with solid foundation and real work, which is why a little portion can be poured here. All that remains is extreme risky speculation.

The mistake most people that invest in altcoins do make is that they are always investing in all this new projects, which most of the are just so risky to invest in because they are operated by scammer. They are just pumped, and after people put their money in it, they going to dump it on late investors or trader, which is really bad. Most people are always desperate to make quick money, and they believe all this new projects are the ones that will give them the kind of profits which they want within a short period of time. If you are planning to invest in altcoins, it’s better to go for the top altcoins, the ones that have been in the space for years, if you hold coins like that you might be making profits later in future, but you should know that altcoins investment isn’t secure, anything can happen to the coin that you are holding even if they are top coins.

Bitcoin must be more than 80% for my asset If you really want to invest in altcoins, here are a few I'd like to buy right now: - BNB - XRP - ETH - SOL Yes, these are the top coins; at least they still have a high chance of surviving the bearish market and returning to the bullish phase as before. BNB is the best, as in recent seasons, it has consistently reached new ATHs from season to season. But, once more, DYOR and take your own risks.
