I don't think so, social media is too broad to do such thing. Let me start by saying social media comprises of Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, telegram, TikTok and many more platforms. Now this platform is owned by different people, if all this social media platform are required to build a treatment center for gambling addict, how is it possible for all to come together to do that? It is definitely not possible. Meanwhile this same thing has been happening in other countries and nothing of such has happened, why must it be Indonesia? It's definitely not going to work.

But this is the Indonesian government. I know how bad the government system is there and how corrupt it is. Exactly, if a child isn't old enough yet then what ever device they use should be on parental control because the simple truth is that if the site can't tell that the person visiting them is underage then how are they supposed to regulate their content to ensure that children aren't exposed to it, most children are given these gadgets for probably educational purposes but you will still find them going out from what they are supposed to do and instead doing things that weren't their original purpose.

A single hand cannot clean itself and produce the required level of cleanliness. Even if only one hand is unclean, you must scrub both hands together in order to wash them clean. The same is true for the issue of parental supervision and the prohibition of adult-related content on websites; both parties must play a part to prevent our society from being overrun with young people who are addicted to gambling.

It's also clear that any gambling advertisement leads to gambling addiction in some percentage of cases. Complete and utter fucking bullshit, not even 1% of children are being given these "gadgets" for "education purposes". They are being given so that they can infinitely entertain themselves in mind-destroying content so that the parents can fuck off and do whatever they want instead of spending their time, you know, actually parenting. Do not give excuses and bullshit about educational purposes, were that even remotely true then the competency of the last 2 generation of children would be higher than those before. Meanwhile they has fish-brains and the emotional maturities of toddlers, no ethics, no work discipline, they are completely meaningless individuals and they should not even exist -- for they solely make the world a worse place. Anyone who has tried hiring the youth for important or skilled jobs with any kind of strict quality control knows this, many of them can't even fucking do entry-level jobs such as being a waiter.

If you want to bring up children, then there is only 1 truth: No child should even have been given any kind of gadget before the ages of 12/13, and before 18/21 only under severe restrictions. Most parents do not have any technological competency to make this happen, let alone parenting skills to avoid giving their children access to dangerous addictive content of the internet. Furthermore, the previous users claims that websites have no way to tell who is watching the content is also bullshit. Whether through KYC, since most websites already employ some even if at times it is a shitty cheap system, or through fingerprinting it is absolutely possible to deduce in most cases whether someone is a child or not. It is always good to see you around these parts or any parts of the forum as you do read and respond to posts correctly. I do really try to write the truth as much as possible, and so do you -- styles may only be different. I am quite harsh on topics that are terrible, like the situations that we are talking about here -- especially when these situations did not have to be this way, then they are of the worst kind. If one does not have sufficient information about a topic, he or she should just shut the fuck up and not write nonsense -- as you can see here, many propose completely stupid ideas or defend gambling or gambling-like mechanisms because they are completely uneducated about these matters, but they yet insist that they know something.

I grew up surrounded by all kinds of technology all the time, yet I never got addicted to anything because it was an entirely different thing back then. There were no "stories", "shorts", "reels" or whatever else this slot machine mechanism is called that makes kids addicted for life, and this is just 1 tiny part or feature of the current environment. Many people think that just because it is not a direct gambling game in a casino that its effects could never be anything similar to actually playing at a casino, which could not be further from the truth -- they can actually be much, much worse since there is no money that is being risked. When there is no "stake" or "risk" most people and kids will simply keep engaging in an activity such as watching shorts and they will even defend it fiercely, because they do not perceive any downside to the activity -- after all, it is not gambling, right? Well that is why most kids these days are completely hooked to content, have short attention spans, have the emotional maturity of toddlers and so forth. If we want to seriously start fixing any of this, the first step is not giving money to gambling treatment centers, the first step is fucking not creating technology-enabled addicts in the first place.

The law being proposed might not change anything whatsoever, most parents are unable to discipline their children well enough because they themselves are still children, the level of early pregnancy we are seeing today is way too high, you will find people becoming parents at very young ages and then having to start taking care of their own children, most can't even do anything without the help of the own parents, grandparents now have way more responsibility than they planned for and that can be overwhelming for them.

Very rarely today there are children who can use social media appropriately, adequately according to their needs. Most children today use social media excessively even this makes them addicted to being able to spend hours without leaving the House. I agree with you that those who are like this need stronger discipline and with parents they should be able to be more assertive in setting discipline. I hope the level of addiction to the use of this phone can be overcome first because with this reduced then the level of addiction may also be decreased.

We all know that doesn't work. Even with big advertisements on the highways about gambling addiction, it doesn't really work. Now, if it's social media companies who would do that, it might just end up the same because I highly doubt they will offer help financially.

Anyway, I think they are just making some claim here, and I doubt the sincerity of it. The chances of it trying to just divert the blame onto others, in this case, social media platforms, are higher. It's just a blame game, and I do believe they know the answer from those big companies on this.
