Do You Ignore Temporary Or Forever

I don't know how y'all keep up with this but I can't figure it out and it has been on my mind for few days now, so I think it's high time we talk about it because I want to hear from your perspectives.

The thing is, how do you handle those profiles or let me just say users you put on your ignore list?
Did you keep them ignored forever or you revisit the profile/posts to check if a y of them have imporoved their posting patterns or they still keep on repeating it the same things?

I believe nobody get ignored for no reason (unless there's a mistake). Actually, from my own perspectives, I believe some of those users who get ignored might improve in the the future (if not 100% but at least up to 80% quality). Meanwhile, if they are still ignored, how are we supposed to know that they have changed or improved.

It highly dependent on why the ignore button was used in the first place because let’s be honest there are accounts which I know of some members actually puts on ignore they are seriously not going back there again to reevaluate this decision, accounts like those which supports or promotes scams, aggressive trolls accounts or related behaviors.

As for newbies account they don’t usually get ignored like that because of post quality, best you will see is corrections been done for better posting quality. For newbies should be ignored it might be that there coming was to spread maybe false information and for that it’s actually hard to go back to unignore that account, because those cannot be anyway repentant.

To see if they have improved I think you would definitely find them on knowledgeable threads and mostly get to see them been quoted by some reputable members. This way you could revisit the profile again for reevaluation

I don't put any user on my ignore due to post construction, and i only put people on my ignore list when i see that they seem not to have a sign of respect for others or take things out of every users that say thing based on their perspective about the discussion. However, i sometime remove them from the ignore list when i notice a lot of people are quoting their messages, which i personally beliefe it a sign of improvement.

Well, most people just move on immediately they ignored someone or a profile but that doesn't mean people can't improve their method of posting or how they do things in the forum. So long as someone is open to learn from others and also correct their mistakes, change is possible for them. Honestly I believe improvement even matters mostly if it gets noticed by others, so for that reason I think checking ignored users might help them sometimes. Some people might might not agree with this probably because they understand that the ignore is just to exclud some users, so for that there will be no reason to preview that post, but it's wring based on my perspectives.

Well, the ones who ignore other members don't really care that the member is improving or not, they just ignore it and keep going. I believe the one who got ignored should not care much either because as long as he/she is doing good and posting helpful things, then it doesn't matter if he/she is ignored by someone or not. I personally don't ignore any member and there's no one in my ignore list, but surely a few members who're high in reputation might ignore some users here and there.

You ignored a member and you can not see that member's posts directly but if any other forum members quoted that ignored user's posts, you will see the quoted contents. This is chance for you to assess that user's post quality and consider to unignore the user or not.

Mostly spammers are spammers, they don't change their post quality like after they change their posting for merit, they will return to be spammers after achieving the rank they want. Like you see how Hero members and Legendary members spam in Stake signature campaign. They are spammers at beginning, somehow got merit like 500 merit or 1000 merit to become Hero and Legendary members. Then after getting slot in campaigns that accept spamming, they will return to be spammers, and perhaps you will need to Ignore them again.

To this, I think there are two categories of people that ignores and how that handle the ignore aftermath.

• The aggressive ignorers: These set of people ignore users very easily. Anything that looks like spam, even if it's some kind of poorly formatted grammar, the user is immediately ignored. This set of people believe that the noise ratio in the forum is high, they just want the sanity of their mind. This set of people are the ones that ought to visit their ignore list once in a while to release some repentant users.
  
• The considerate Ignorers: People under this category hardly use the ignore button. If they use it, just know that the ignored person is an unrepentant idiot. This people don't need to review their ignore list. If you are there, you deserve there for life.

The only reason I do click and check the people I have on my ignore list is to see if I have mistakenly clicked and ignored someone when I did not know during the times I use mobile often. Aside from that, I only have two members on my ignore list, and I don't think there is a need for me to revisit their profiles. Those who ignore a lot based on their quality might do the rethinking, maybe after they might have seen posts done by the person being quoted by another user.

I never ignore anyone in the forum intentionally. But I understand that the ignore option is useful for some users, and that’s really up to them, since we all have different ways of dealing with people in the forum.

Maybe if the time comes that I feel too insulted, and arguing with that person through posts would only make me look stupid, then I would not hesitate to use the ignore option. But so far, none yet. Maybe it’s because I already developed a thicker skin in life, considering I’m already old.

But if I ever ignore someone, it might be forever, because how would I even know if that person changed if they’re already on ignore, right?

Anything that can make me put my hand on the ignore button for a user shows that that person truly deserves it and I don't think I will have any reason to unignore such, some spammers and scammers deserve this and we can't hesitate giving them the benefits of being ignored to avoid reoccurrence of their kind of Post on the forum, I do this when I already ascertain my fat that they are being intentional about it.

How a user ignores is personal to them, just like how people use the block or mute feature on social platforms. You should not be looking to copy how any other person if ores users but to find the best way to use it to improve the quality of posts you come across when surfing the forum.

If you have a low tolerance for spam, you should have more people on your ignore list and review it seldomly. If you don't mind reading all posts you'll use the ignore feature a lot less and have just a few people there you can take off if you come across their posts and chose to read it to check for improvements.

I am of the opinion that some members deserve a second chance to avoid being ignored forever, but there are members who have hundreds of other members on the ignore list and I think most of them will not spend time looking through such a list. However, there is one thing that looks really strange: if you have multiple people on ignore and then in a topic you don't see what they wrote, your post can look like repetitive content.

Of course, a lot of people don't read the posts and respond exclusively based on the title and the first post in the topic, but I guess anyone with a little intelligence can figure out who is ignoring them.

Putting people in ignored list is based on several reasons but it is generally to maintain certain level of peace which the user might have distorted due to their behavior, actions and inactions. It is entirely up to the person that add them to their ignored list to review their actions if necessary or continue leaving them there. I don't think there will be any single formular for this so everyone will have their respective ways of handling their ignored list.

It takes alot of work to get on an ignore list, especially mine. Everyone has something they see before putting others on an ignore list and once you get into mine, im not sure I'll care to check if you have improved or not. I don't judge people simply by how they post or what they post, I mean the forum was not built on a single day so everyone should be given a chance to learn and grow.

I judge by how you interact with people on the forum. It's a public space, you can be whatever you want but don't try to make anyone look stupid or fill the forum with topics that seems to be nothing but repeated spamming, this is more practiced by scammers.
P.s, I just checked my ignore list, it's completely empty. I was expecting to see some popular names there, but I guess I never ignored them.

Same as yours, I seldom put people in my ignore list unless they are disrespectful, and they are here just to disrespect members with no valid reason. After I put them on my ignore list, if they are quoted and the quote is something interesting, I unignore them to check, then I return them to my ignore list, but there are times when I do not return them to my ignore list.
I believe in giving people another chance.

However I don't easily ignore people. If I put someone on ignore, it is because s/he is structurally retarded. Meaning, there is zero room for getting better in the future. Even if there was any, it would probably take a decade to see the improvements which nobody has time for. In this situation, It is not even a choice for me. I was left without one. Ignore, and move on. Life is too short to get angry on stupid people's stupid posts.

There is room for change and growth, I will never put anyone on ignore list on here even if they are annoying, or if they curse me somehow, if I put them on ignore list and later they changed how will I know?

I will like to know if someone who says hateful words to me yesterday have changed, I can remember when I was very newbish on this forum, if I want to ignore alot of people I would, they said some harsh words to me.

Today I don't see them doing the same to other newbies, maybe they did have it up? It's a free world, if anyone is spamming try to correct them and if they won't change it's left for moderators to do their jobs.

As OP asked how others handle it, here's what I usually do. I'm quite lenient to put someone on my ignore list but some work really hard to earn a spot on it. Occasionally I peek quickly into a post of ignored users to reassess my past judgement briefly.

In the majority of cases an ignored user mostly posts the same crap that earned them to be ignored by me and often I ask myself, why did I waste time to peek again.   [giggle], maybe it's worth to report their post...

Rarely I've removed someone from my ignore list to make them visible for me again. There were cases where I did regret this "second chance" and returned that user back on my ignore list.

I looked at my ignore list on my profile and only saw three members ignored. I don't know how long they've been there, but they're just not very popular. As far as I can remember, they were just spammers from a black campaign for a casino brand that was once controversial, and they're unlikely to improve in the future.
