there is a hypothetical situation where we will have a draw, have all penalties questions equal except for the minute of the first yellow card in the game Colombia - Ghana. We picked 22' and the opponent picked 69'. Now I guess it is clear, but I ask anyway: if the yellow card is awarded in the first half in extra time, say after 45+3', that still counts as 45', doesn't it? Or would 45+3' count as 48? I thought that would collude since there can't be two yellows and different times within the same minute assuming there would be a yellow in the 2nd half at 48'.

Since this is so damn close this time with all the answers, I thought I'd ask. Still depends on their betslip failing, but since that is not impossible, the above described scenario could come into action.

Yeah, I was ready for this technical detail and still made the choice I did. But I did not expect cryptofrka to go down to the 30 seconds haha.  Who's going to be the arbitrator if it happens in 46', someone's going to have to watch the game and start counting the seconds to the whistle for foul... or time of the card to actually get shown? Mexico was not a problem, I don't know what to tell you, but I'll repeat what I've been saying in our team chat: I watched their games and felt they were the most comfortably consistent team who knows what to do with the opponent they face. Most news sites said Ecuador would cause problems and they were the value bet but I thought Mexico 22/10 was great value!

Things may change once they actually meet a proper pedigreed European team but that's a question for another day!

it was an honor to have played in this wc-tournament, and now our focus shifts entirely to the bsfl league so that (in my case) i don't end up getting relegated...

I don't get it either. They knew they had to beat Brazil, and you usually can't do that by sitting and defending. You got the goal, a very nice one, why not keep adding?

Worst of all, they keep doing it all the time, just stopping when they have good result, instead kept going for more.
I read somewhere that Japan never won knockout World Cup game, and one would think that they would change something as this approach obviously doesn't work.

To be perfectly fair it is hard to play that strategy against Brazil who will punish you if you do that, it was a valid statement for their other rounds for sure and they did score for a lot against Tunisia so I think we only have a small amount of games to judge them. But still I judge them, I mean other than Vini, the rest of Brazil team can allow many goals, Japan should have taken maximum advantage.

Now they have added a record to their knockout perfect loss record, which is latest goal to concede in World Cup to lose the game.

There are really a lot of unexpected results and surprises at this world championship and it is not easy to predict the results of all the matches.

Yes, that's exactly how it is. Unfortunately, my (our) tournament journey came to an end much earlier than I had hoped. Now I just have to wait and see whether the Austrian national team will suffer the same fate or manage to advance further than I did.

Nevertheless, it was an exciting experience and a refreshing change from the usual prediction competitions. The format was both varied and entertaining, which made the whole event even more enjoyable. On the bright side, I managed to win one bet slip, so my overall loss remains fairly limited in the end. 😛

Yes exactly,,, that is why I said it seems fair, since you already ended bottom, and there is an extra chance to win something for the members even if you get knocked out, or as a reward for surviving more games in a way.

Not yet but we'll have the draws done soon - probably tomorrow.
Teams that were 2nd placed will be seeded against the teams that progress from the current round.

Bosnia can beat the USA, but only if they stay fully focused in defense during the last 15 minutes. The American players are very quick,i'd even say quicker than the Bosnian players but they don't have that Balkan mentality of going all in when it matters most. Honestly, i also hope the host nation will be eliminated by Bosnia.

And then when everyone expected the game to go to penalties, Belgium got awarded a penalty kick. Such a sad way to lose a game after leading 2-0 until few minutes before the end of the game. I'm sure they were already celebrating the victory in those last minutes of the game.

Yes, our team started this competition slowly, with a defeat, then a draw and then a minimal victory in the group.
Now we have won 2:0 and probably 3:0 and as the competition goes on we are getting better and more dangerous.
Our next opponent will not have an easy job with us because we are now fully prepared and ready. 
As for Senegal, and before Japan, I would say that the problem is the mentality of "small teams", the players' immaturity and tactical indiscipline.
You play great against a big opponent, you take the lead and then you don't know how to finish the job and bring the opponent back to life.
