One thing I have realized about gambling is people stopping and leaving gambling to later come back to gamble again.

I guess you haven't met many addicts in real life, because relapse is very common thing among addicts, whether it's gambling or any other type of addiction.
Many people with addictions relapse after they quit for some time and when it happens, it's usually worse than it was before and it becomes harder to recover again.
If you quit then you need to do it for good.
