That is probably the safest approach, but if you want to feel the excitement, especially if you are not betting heavily on the match, then backing his opponent can make sense.

After all, Canelo is coming from a loss. You can look at it from the angle that maybe he has not fully recovered mentally yet, and that loss could still be haunting him and affect his performance. If that happens, then an upset is definitely possible. That’s the angle I’m looking at here.

This is a very interesting fight. We all know how Canelo fights very methodically. He sized you up, studied your movement, power, and ring IQ, then he adjusted to beat you.

Mbili is a strong power puncher with a wicked left hook, but he is slow and stiff; many of the fighters he has knocked out were easy targets. With Canelo, I don't think he can do what he did to his previous opponents; he is still undefeated with 29 wins and 24 fights, looks impressive, but not so when facing Canelo.

If Canelo wants to win that fight, he’s gotta bring something different than what he did against Crawford; probably more early aggression by establishing his jab and body shots before Mbilli can start to power up.
Or he could just try as much as possible to initiate a higher work rate in the early rounds, that way he probably won’t get out worked by Mbilli later in the middle rounds.

IMO this fight is a 50-50 fight so if i were you, i wouldn’t be so quick to ride the hype just because Canelo is the bigger name, Mbilli is no joke and his fight with Lester Martinez is enough proof even though that’s not the only one.

I do agree with the assessment, as Mbilli struggled against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who was 38 years old and was fighting with a torn bicep. And yet, he was able to land clean counters on Mbilli. If Sergiy Derevyanchenko can do that with a torn bicep, you can only imagine how Canelo will easily find the chin of Mbilli. This fight now is a level above his talent, in my opinion.

Canelo may be the favourite in this match on paper and in every one's lips, but it would be very wrong of him if he allows that to get to his head, and if he start underating his opponent that is more of a defensive fighter.

I believe that a defensive fighter are not easy to beat, because they might take all your punches and be blocking it while reserving their strength waiting to hit when frustration sets in, so canelo may be the favourite here, but he should not let what people are saying get to his head, because he might not like the final outcome of this match if he becomes complacent in this match.

Yeah, i agree that Canelo isn't a fighter that is easy to beat, you need to be in your best shape if you want to win against him but the thing with Canelo is that he is now on the twilight on his career while Mbili is younger than Canelo and he is unbeaten with a high knockout ratio. For me, Mbili just need to be patient in there, don't rush and over commit as this might cause harm to him. He should work on his defense more like what Bivol did in his fight against Canelo.

Haven't pull the trigger yet on this fight but definitely i would go for Christian Mbili, this might be the changing of the guard.

I also haven't pull the trigger yet for this fight as it still have a full month to go. But it's good that some predictions are taking shape already. And with the recent upset that we have seen in the Itauma fight, there could be good reasons for some of us to go against the favorite Canelo here.

We can only see his version in his last fight, he can still put some output there, but he faces a very different fighter in Crawford that's why he lost.

So let's see how it goes for Canelo here, it might not be an easy fight for him as Mbili will come in very confident.

Yes, he is really in the decline in the last couple of years, even his fight with John Ryder in Mexico, there has been signs of wear and tear and his body is slowly deteriorating. But him and his fans didn't see it that way, then another lost to Crawford and you can see his frustrations.

So everything is really mounting on his physical body, maybe not in his mind. But we all know that most great boxers fail to see it before it's too late. So we will see if Canelo has still that couple of good fights in him, or it's really time for him to retire if he lost against a young Mbili.

This is a high-risk fight for Canelo coming off that Crawford loss. Mbilli is very good with his pressure and undefeated hunger. However, Canelo’s counters and experience are still levels above what Mbilli has ever faced. The prediction here is Canelo, but he will have to work hard for it.

Oddsmakers see it the same way. Canelo is a -350 favorite, and Mbilli is a +250 underdog. The smart money is on the veteran to outclass the younger guy.
